My grandfather had fields of blueberries and orchards of peaches and apples on his farm. This is bringing back some fond memories.
Sounds wonderful!
weehawk you from...

Lucky guy
Not good for black people i guess
I love that you shared the Native American part of the blueberry history as well. Great video!
Ben Hussain You're talking about two different berries
Ben Hussain asian soil is more alkaline than acidic, which means blueberries can't grow there unless acidic environment is provided. Muslims might have eaten similar berries but not blueberries
vin 950 'old' world..... Eurocentric alert!
Terry Giang 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
@vin 950 The American blueberry species have close relatives in Europe and Asia, with similar-looking and tasting berries, and the name "blueberry" often refers to all of them.
In most European languages, the name of the native berry translates directly to "blueberry", and that same name is often also used for the cultivated varieties of American origin.
In England, the European berry has a different name: _Bilberry_ , but
it is likely that the American name for the American berry has its origin with settlers from other European countries that saw them and said "Hey, guys. I've found blueberries!"
This channel deserves a show AND some awards. The amount of detail and information they add whilst making it understandable is amazing.
I can eat literally hundreds of this fruit, they’re so delicious and unique! 💜
I can't eat this fruit at all. There is a vasodilator in blueberries that I am sensitive to. Just a few results in my having a bad migraine headache. Darnit.
Could you guys do a huckleberry video? They're perhaps the most underrated North American berry, and they're shockingly delicious!
Nick C Or honeyberry or seaberry or gooseberry
Nick C huckleberry is still somewhat un domesticated. With luck, you will find very few people on UA-cam on the frontier of domestication and commercialization of the huckleberry. Just search it. I've found some people trying.
Efren Chen sea Berry’s are good but most unknown berry probably goumi berry
@@andrewzcolvin Amazon has a couple plant and seed options for reasonable price if you have a yard or porch.
Ooooo, cobbler
The Scenes, the lines, the Music, the visual Quality, the recipes and the host, everything is just perfect
Yes, the Blueberry (Vaccinium corymbosum) is native to North America. But the genus Vaccinium has other species that also produce blue fruits which are known to mankind for thousands of years. Most notably the European Blueberry or Bilberry (Vaccinium myrtillus ) which is native to Europe as well as parts of Asia and North America. I personally prefer Bliberries - they are smaller and they are blue on the inside as well. They have a rich and aromatic blue-ish juice that is ideal for making sweet juices, jams or sauces. Plus, bilberries have been a part of the traditional european herbal medicine for thousands of years.
Nicole, you do an amazing job! Your thorough research and preparation shows. I really enjoy these videos. Thank you
I love this video so freaking much, I never knew how much I was interested in blueberries, very at the most!
The music is also tearing me up.
Aethyr Stonite i love them too ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ i also like blueberries and the music is so fitting to the video
Thanks, guys!! Means a lot!
AHHH
Loved learning about the history and significance of the blueberry with the Native American people, as well as how they began to be cultivated. I agree that the blueberry really embodies the spirit of the United States!
I'm so glad you enjoyed it! :))
After watching several How Does It Grow videos, I have to say that I love these! They are educational like the things my generation used to watch in science class, entertaining enough to make me want more, professionally cut and edited AND our lovely host is not picture model perfect, but has beautiful natural looks in every video! I would not like these nearly as much if every shot had every single hair pasted down and perfected airbrush makeup, etc. This is... Naturally Vibrantly Beautifully Perfect! Great job on this series!
I just wanted to know why watermelons are seedless. Now, three hours later, i can't stop watching lol
She is intoxicating. Super cute.
Parthenogenesis..
You make anything sound sooo good :)

I can watch you all day picking blue berries. Its like therapy. Thank you for existing Nicole.
I just discovered your channel and omg! These videos are so so so well done, you make it very understandable for people who don't have any agricultural knowledge but at the same time you share some interesting and more technical concepts. This should definitely be a tv show. Great job!
She was so funny out in the fields! I love how far they go to show us every step of cultivating these berries
I will send this channel to my friends, I promise!!
You are so kind! THANK YOU!!
I really like hearing your voice. Its so calm yet informative.
I just discovered your channel and I'm hooked! This is absolutely fascinating! So much I was clueless about, thank you for your in-depth episodes, short- yet so informative, now back to binge watching!

Wow! This video is spectacular and I can really see the improvement of the quality of these videos as they progress. Great job and keep making amazing and educational videos!
Insta-like when you mentioned the Native Americans.
Please do more videos like this one. I've been watching your channel for a long time now and it's this type of production that lures in the likes and subscribers. Anything you do with a brief history, behind the scenes and supply chain of the farming industry is where you shine.
From Portugal, with love.
Thank you so much. I appreciate the feedback!

Your videos are so perfect. They’re beautiful, emotional, educational, not too long, not too short, amazing background music, just perfect.
My 5 year old son is obsessed with this show ... He loved this one the best
Like how much respect the general farmer has for his professional pickers that’s really dope
I want to thank all the Latinos for working American lands.
I know some of us are ungrateful but we kind of need you.
Here, here! We definitely need them.
Major Disdain You sure about that? Are you going to plant your food?
Yes we welcome the law abiding legal immigrants with open arms. The illegal immigrants and their liberal supporters not so much.
Well you're slightly odd-ish! Get it? Oddish
@Dougie Doug are you getting this info from the tv or what
I missed your videos. you rock. Thanks for the magic you put into all your shows. God bless you.
I missed your videos! Great video as always
Love the channel! My grandmother had a blueberry bush when I was growing up. My cousin and I would always snack on them when we'd come by to visit. We had some great memories there. Keep up the good work!
What a beautiful memory! Thanks for sharing it -- and for watching!!
geat ...hi
Very informative! In my country we call them "bush blueberries" and our "blueberry" is actually the bilberry, it grows everywhere in forests alongside lingonberries (and our land is mostly forest) so people tend to go to the forests to pick them up themselves.
I personally like the american blueberries more but they're only available as imports or popular garden bushes.
What country do you live in? That's so interesting!
Finland!
And when I said they grow everywhere, they really do! If you go into a forest, most of the undergrowth is bilberry bushes
+ShroomWalrus
Have you by any chance had blueberries? And how would you compare them to bilberries? As far as I know bilberries are not available this side of the pond (North America), but I have been keen to try some.
Oh my god! Thank you for this post! I've always had "blueberries" in Sweden, but when I ate blueberries in America, they didn't taste the same and were so tasteless. I could never figure out why they tasted so differently and just settled on the idea that climate affected their tastes. But after your posts and then looking it up on the internet, I found out they're different berries! I never even knew!
+M. Utley
I've had blueberries, the taste is completely different to bilberries, as blueberries tend to be a bit tart. It's been a while since I had bilberries since their season is in late summer / early autumn but they taste much more "berry-like" and foresty. I would say while blueberries tend to be best enjoyed as is, bilberries are perfect for jams, muffins, pies, crumbles and all sorts of bakery, as their taste gets sweeter in the oven and their colour spreads easily.
Love this video!! So informative! We have plenty of wild blueberries here and I truly thank God for this treasure!
Yet another beautiful presentation Nicole, so are you.
Enjoyed every bit 👍
When i was a kid i helped pick blueberries a few seasons for a family friend of ours. Really good memories of those times. Damn tasty fruit
Hopefully there're more videos about "how does it grow?" really love watching it. I've got a lot of information.

Yay a new video! Thank you!!

Your videos are fantastic. I share the videos with the students (Intellectually Disabled Adults) at my day program, which serves people with mild to profound intellectual disabilities. Everyone loves the videos; we have seen several. During our group discussion in the classroom, our verbal participants wanted me to thank you for your great work and they can't wait to see more of your videos.
I'm so delighted to hear this, and pardon my delayed response. Please send your students my appreciation for watching! High fives all around!
My grandfather had blueberry bushes on his farm. They were a summer treat. I planted several when we bought a home and I still have a decent crops each summer over the last twenty years.

This made me eat Blueberries at 1am ;-;
Yeah, it's midnight here and I am thinking about it. Lol
Blueberries are my favorite, especially the sour/ kinda green ones. They have a sweet and sour punch to them.
Undead Trooper yes I love all kinds! I’ve always said if I had to live off a fruit for the rest of my life it would be the blueberry!
Awesome reporting. Thank you very much for being so enthusiastic
Just bought a home and found two blueberry bushes. Thanks for doing this video. Beautiful!

Nicole is such a great host. She’s very engaging, enthusiastic and bright! She deserves to have a bigger audience and a longer TV show!
They are my favorite fruit! ❤😍 Amazing view! Thanks for sharing! ❤
Subscribed! First time on this channel and love it! Now watching all the other videos lol. Super interested and educational! Keep the videos coming! Great job. 👍👌
This channel is so underrated!
Thank you! Please help us spread the word!! :)
we had the first blueberry farm in texas down near houston.. its still there.. rabbiteye southern blueberries..kin to the huckleberry and a couple other plants..i cant remember.. that was another millennium ago
Yes, I read a bit about the rabbiteye while doing research for this video. So much great material that we don't have time to put in! Glad to hear the farm's still going.
That is really cool 😎👍
I will never forget the trip I took to the Adirondack mountains, when we had almost reached the summit I ventured off on the less traveled path and found wild blueberries. Instead of the planned pancakes at the summit all were blessed with the freshest most amazing blueberries pancakes I have ever had!!
Love the way you presents the video💚
The feeling when you are from Finland where blueberries grow in forests and they are smaller and taste better
Beautiful ❤️
Farmers are humble and nice everywhere.
Amazing.
she make everything look delicate to watch.
I one day hope to own a blueberry farm, blueberries make me so happy! 😍
Live the dream!🌈
Same Dude!
Wish the same
Some of the best blueberrys I've eaten I found while hiking around in Fort Mountain state park, in northern Georgia. My wife and me were snacking on them as we walked around, and another hiker asked us, " aren't those poisonous?". lol
I explained that they were wild blueberrys and very delicious. There also some wild gooseberries here and there.
edit: I've also had the "Those are poisonous." comment when people saw me eating elaeagnus berries. The're rather tart, with a kinda strawberry flavor. Very tasty, but has a huge pit in the fruit.
I really enjoyed this. I found her elocution and presentation to be excellent. The music and
editing was great and the writing was more than I expected. I found the history and literature
references were intriguing as well. It is hard to ignore that the host is beautiful.
That smile is contagious 😬
Cool ! In France, blueberries are only found on top of mountains, as we make absolutely delicious pies with it ;).
When I moved back to Canada, my native country, in 2002, I was graced with living on a property that had a baker's dozen of high-bush blueberry bushes. The first year I lived there, once they were ripe, my mother and I could pick four, four and a half pounds a night... the next year was much drier, which I didn't realize until it was too late to water the bushes, and I ended up with... _three_ berries. =3
Just subscribed! Love your channel! More power.
I’ll be your huckleberry! Your voice is like silk to my ears. Excellent narration!
Great vid!!! Your vids are very informative. Im from the caribbean and we grow at the family farm various fruits. Would be cool to see a vid of tropical fruits
I'm dying to do tropical fruits! Have to find some funding to get ourselves to tropical places! ;)
Here in Romania we have so many wild blueberry, they taste way better then farmed one ,that is for sure.Olso the bushes are like 10 cm tall ,not 2m :))
Same low height bushes here in Manitoba , central Canada .
Our families roots are in Romania .
Cheers and all the best in 2020 !
She’s talking about northern highbush blueberry and carelessly only calls it blueberry. It’s an american variety and not the same as original blueberry.
The european blueberry is better tgan the North American one. In Kosovo we call the bluebarries in Canada, dog berry as it tastes unfit for humans.
North America has more species of Vaccinium genus. I'm not sure how European blueberry related to North American one.
I love how your channel is getting more views and subscribers...u deserve it!
Many Awesome qualities in this presentation.
Professionalism.
Classiness.
Excellent.Subscribed👍.
Blueberries are for fun and must be native American. Bilberry (cousin of blueberry) is, though, more liked and in higher demand in Northern Europe. Perhaps, if Americans look around them ) they will find bilberry as well. (Short crawling bushes, green stalks, don't get "wooden brown", small and dark blue-black berries - black inside, stain things around like ink )). No "star" on the end of the berry, more like round circles in the same berry "end" ). Northern thing. Here in Russia, and there in England. and I think - in Norway, Finland, etc. - is believed to be good for eyes. Improves vision. That's why very expensive. Tender in taste, as well. Doesn't keep at all (
I'm from Finland and for a moment i was like "huhh those aren't blueberries," no but really, i didn't know the European blueberries were called bilberries
"Blueberry" to mean European Blueberry/Bilberry has been done in English in Britain before the colonisation of America.
It just just over there in the USA, they call blueberries "Bilberries" and America "The Americas".
Says not to rub off the protective layer. Then does so and puts the berry right into the bucket...
She did indeed...ooops!
She was demonstrating. dude.
Do you spend your life picking away at what people do how sickening obviously a single person who would want to be married to you
That was so interesting. But also too, she has a way of reporting in an interesting and giddy way that makes for pleasant viewing.
her voice makes everything so much better
