@@TrueFoodTV I really appreciate your work.. I would like tell you, I have subscribed only few channel and you are one among them. I Feel so happy by watching your excellent videos
I lived in Sicilia for a year. The Sicilians I lived with were chefs and a fisherman. Very simple. Washing dishes? Plates, cups are kept in a wooden or steel rack above the sink. We kept these beautiful lemons by the sink. Just cut and use the thick pulp and juice to just wipe the dishes. No rinsing needed. Then just place the plates, bowls, cutlery back in the racks! They grew their own olives (a large stone press was in the courtyard that folks would use), grape vineyards that were easier to press (no we didn’t stomp on them!), and lemons. We’d climb up in the mountains to irrigate each night from aqueducts. We lived near Taormina by Mt Etna the active volcano. It was BEAUTIFUL. I ate plates of pasta each day but never gained weight. Long climbs, hauling water, harvesting…I was the most fit in my life. No butter, just Italian baguettes fresh each morning. Siestas each afternoon and the shops all closed. Sweet naps in cool shade. We played tennis on the public clay courts everywhere. I would still be living in Sicilia if I had any sense! BTW the Sicilians don’t speak Italian you’ll find on Rosetta Stone. It’s a specific local language and as an American woman (only American in coastal town) the locals loved hearing me make embarrassing mistakes. Kind good people! BTW be forewarned! The Sicilian men are very macho! Don’t expect equality. But walking with my fiancé each night on the lungomare the men dress in their finest modern suits, the married women all in black dresses. No shorts or pants for me. Even harvesting fruit I wore dresses.
We really need to appreciate the farmers that devote their lives to producing our food for us. It may be a simple life, compared to other jobs, but it is extremely important and fulfilling. This video illustrates the beauty of farming and carrying on traditions, and how those traditions can very well keep society from crumbling apart.
It's strange we do not appreciate our most essential needs. Where I try to make it a regular practice to thank God for what I do have. As quality foods is good. I'd prefer to have my own homestead, a couple hundred acres would suffice. Grow heirloom fruits and veggies, an orchard, vineyard, edible landscaping, companion planting, everything natural. Processing supplies, including nitropacking and freeze drying, making syrups, jellies, as well as a whole host of medicinal herbs and berries, maybe a mote to surround the property as a pond with varying depths to grow rice and bamboo, where bamboo can be used for drip irrigation.😉😉, Sound good? Oh, definitely plenty of honeybees. Might need more acreage to receive restaurant wastes segregated for papers, coffee grounds, eggshells, wasted foods, grocers wastes produce, and lawn clippings etc. for soil building. Which I mentioned a mote as a pond, where need a deep spring fed creek that runs even in draoughts, which feeds the pond, with a water well and maybe turbines connected to generators. Oh and methane generators where sewage, manure, animal waste, organic matter is used to create methane to fuel lights, heat, etc., while creating huge amounts of nutrient rich fertilizer. Sound good?
I don't know why my tears kept on falling while watching and my heart dances while Gigino speaks... this is so nice. Their family could be considered as heroes of their community❤❤❤
I absolutely LOVED this episode. I myself have a Meyer Lemon tree that's someone turned into a hybrid tree with a grapefruit and oranges all on one tree. I got it from Florida and so far I've had some AMAZING lemons. So sweet and sour. This is truly inspiring. God bless this gentleman and his family. I'd love to visit or even help him harvest.. Such a sweet and wholesome episode
This old man had me in tears with his love for the land and his beautiful trees. Thank you for another amazing video. Hopefully you can travel to other places in the world too.
This is absolutely wonderful, I was moved to tears by this family's dedication and love of their land, the sheer beauty of the life around them, and the yearning to have this deep connection to the land myself. Please keep showcasing these kinds of farmers, not only is it so important to share their stories and perspectives, but you're changing the hearts and minds of people all over the world, how we look at farming, and giving us a new appreciation for where our food comes from and who grows it! Much love from Canada, keep finding new food adventures and sharing your and your team's amazing work
Victoria, thank you! This has to be one of my favorite comments ever. Your words are motivating and affirming, and we really appreciate them. Much love to you!
Now I'm crying, also you're crying! 😢 This video is not just about the lemons, it's about the people all around it. May these lemon trees continue to grow and protect the people 😊

There are so many elder people that we admire how dedicated they are. I myself oftentimes see elders that love their profession even in their late ages, it's not because the money they earn but the passion to keep the tradition or heritage. That's what we can learn from them as the youngsters. By the way your video is amazing too. Love from Indonesia 🇮🇩 😊
Nicole, this lemon farm looks like heaven. I am sitting home, drinking your favorite earl grey tea (harney and sons), and watching your lemon video. I love your choice of shirt. It matches well with the lemons. Thank you for sharing :-) By the way, I love the 80 year old farmer. God bless him, and you too.
Hi Nicole. I am from India. I am a farmer too. I salute the flying farmers for the hard work, they are doing. I like you're all episodes. The 'lemon farm' the way you do the picturisation is awesome. Looks like heaven on earth. Here in India too there are places like the northeast and the sahyadri's the farming is done on the hill sides.
I am sitting in front my computer with tears... this episode is just so moving. I would gladly travel half across the world to be right there... I wouldn't mind spending the rest of my life caring and nurturing lemon trees.
There are so many food shows but why I keep coming to watch your show in UA-cam..coz the way you present it ..we feel like we are in the farm with you.. simple awesome..loved this one too.. Love n regards from Gangtok 🤗🤗
I have been watching your videos for a while now Nicole but coincidentally I’m currently studying abroad in Italy (Milan) right now and I saw the thumbnail of this video today and booked a trip to Amalfi!
As someone who works in the development sector with focus on the environment, this video hits home. The words that broke my heart? "The farmers are aging and there's no exactly a line of people clamoring to take up this work. As more farms have been abandoned, the mudslides have increased." And Nicole, the background music didn't help! 😭 Where I come from, this is a sad reality for many agricultural as well as fisheries areas. Less and less of the younger generation take on agriculture-related jobs. Thank you for yet another informative and touching video! I've long added the Positano/Amalfi Coast in my dream travel destinations. And when that time comes that I finally set foot in the coast, I would probably spend most of my time with the lemom trees. Just imagining about it right now makes me emotional. God bless you, Sir Gigino and your family! Thank you, Nicole and team!
These farmers are so genuine. They are worriers like climbing these lemon trees carrying on the legacy they have started hundreds of years ago. Wow you have to salute them.
This old man living with full of happiness even he’s gone Hes life is so simple, happy and no Worries under the lemon tree’s (look how the way he smile) love this episode
A truly touching and beautiful story!! i love how Nicole is so respective and kind to Gigino. This was a teachable moment to my kids to appreciate food and those who make it possible for us to eat
This series is so wonderful!!! We watch it in the nursing home where I work for armchair travel. We made Amalfi lemon bars. The residents LOVED this senior farmer!!! ❤️🍋❤️🍋❤️🍋
I really enjoy watching your channel, its full of joy with colourful fruits, well-told story, and informative even. But this one really moved me. What a great content and coverage it is; exposing the real essence of life. I bet you can be a great Anthropology and Sociology researcher too. 👍🏻
I would love to try that lemon cake! For someone who appreciates the gift from mother nature and dedicates his life to preserve all the traditions / environment, his fruits have to be special. How can they not be? His face along tells me how good those lemons are.
Nicole, I want to thank you and everyone at True Food for all your videos I recently went on a trip to Italy, and thanks to your video, knew I had to include time to the Amalfi Coast. I visited Gigino's farm and got to meet the family members and taste the lemons. Truly a highlight of my rare travels overseas (due to lack of time because of work), and I'm so glad I got to see the coast. The lemon tour included a lot of additional information, like how global warming is affecting the lemon production so that it's financially more and more difficult for the farmers to maintain their land, how the future of these lemon trees are uncertain in the next 5~10 years. It's such a pity to imagine what could happen to the lemon groves and even the city down below under. Even the bus ride to Amalfi was incredibly beautiful-- the winding roads up the mountain that gave the perfect view of the sea and the mountains cradling the towns (I highly recommend sitting on the side of the driver on the way to Amalfi, and sitting on the side of the door on the way back, if you are going from the direction of Pompei). I never would have been able to experience such an amazing place if not for you. Thank you so much, from the bottom of my heart.
Jessica!!! This made my heart sing. I'm thrilled you got to walk through Gigino's ancient groves, and to experience a coast that is very very dear to my heart. I am so honored to have served as a source of inspiration for this trip. Thank you for sharing your memories with me here. xoxo
Nicole . Thank you once again for another piece of superbly done video. What you are doing helps to preserve much of earth's culture and historical richness. I wouldn't have known about this bit of Amalfi uniqueness if I had not watched this. You realize that you are now also a historian? Awaiting your next video.👍
What a beautiful comment. Thank you so much! I do feel a deep sense of privilege to be recording and sharing these stories. I'm so glad you find in them the same value I do!
Nicole, I have been enjoying your TF series for a while now but this episode is truly exceptional. My Mother was Sicilian and my first job after high school was working in an Italian restaurant owned and operated by a couple who were from Italy. You brought back a lot of wonderful memories both of her and them. Thanks for the reminder of a very special time in my life. 🙏❤️
Of all the videos that I watched so far on this channel, this one is my favourite. This place is so beautiful, I wanna move there one day! I'm amazed by the dedication and care that Gigino puts into his farm, and as always, I love and adore the quality and production of this video! "Knock, knock..." "Who's there?" "Your new subscriber. Hi!" Keep up the good work. We need more quality content like this one. :) P/S: Please do banana next. One of my favourite fruit ever!
The trees affect the micro climate, the roots prevent landslides. They are finally replanting the slopes of Spain now. I hope they don't stop. Such a beautiful film.
I have one word to describe this video ...... AMAZING! I was so moved watching this, at one stage I seriously had a tear in my eye. Your content & delivery is on point.
What a amazing episode, gave me such a peaceful feeling. I really like your channel, the language and passion you have for it. Thanks for producing a content like this. Greetings from Brazil.
Miss Nicole thank you for this! We, farmers, are the backbone of our nation. We hope we get more support. Btw, this is so moving! Another great video! God bless.
I'm going through a chronic health crisis at the moment but once I heal up I am packing my bags for Italy. I dont want to live the stressful life in North America. I'd love to make lemonchello and olive oil
Very well done thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank you for taking the time to share these stories and pass on the awareness of how crucial a role these plants are!
This is one of the best episodes that I watched. it's not just about the love of farming but as well as the love to our whole environment.. the back ground song really touches your soul...., ♥️🤗
Best video ever. how beautiful ways you use to tell us about farming i wish we can see everything good in the world through your videos not about agriculture only. Thank you very much this what we need on UA-cam.
Never thought I'd get emotional in the first five minutes on a video about an old guy lemon farming, but here I am. I looked into it, and as far as I am call, Gigino is still doing his thing!
What a well done video! Love all of your videos but this one is by far the most interesting and heartfelt! The farmer is inspirational! Thank you for posting this awesome video!! Keep the videos coming! 👍
Just discovered your channel. I love the grass roots approach to where our food comes from. This is the best of the ones I have seen. The love of life and lemons is humbling. Please keep up the great work.
By far your best episode, made me go through so many happy memories and feelings of my own grandfather tending the fields and the sadness that this is a dying art. More of this please, much much more
This is a work of Art. This is what I long to see when i ever make it to Italy. The people, not tourist places but the places lived and loved for generations. Like the Vermont I live in and the maple syrup that runs through my veins. Thank you for this beautiful story.
This was a very touching videogame!!Their care and love for the people and awesome trees made me cry!!The beautiful trees are definatly ones of a kind!! Please send my love and great respect to this awesome family!!!!Love and a great fan!!! Tamsen Roberts in Riverside California.....
You can tell that these men (father and son) were talking about and sharing about what they love, and there is positively nothing wrong with loving those trees and the beauty of nature.
Amazing views, amazing lemon , amazing farmer who keeps his garden and lemon alive for many years that will help to support the terraces intact. Hope more people will go into farming.
this episode is amazing... the quality of the video, the story that gigino shared, the background music.... and overall this episode is just too pure 😭❤
"I was conceived under a lemon tree, lemon juice runs in my heart and veins" This episode is beyond beautiful
Thank you! I call Gigino my poet-farmer.

omg your comment made me cry! :'( it's so beautiful
He"s the Lemonth son of the Lemonth son
I will always have a huge respect and admiration for all the farmers doing all the hardwork to feed us. 💖
I can respect his work and dedication...i am glad his son is going to carry on the family farm.

You can tell that these men (father and son) were talking about and sharing about what they love, and there is positively nothing wrong with loving those trees and the beauty of nature.
A beautiful and tragic story. Wonderfully presented ❤️
