#1 Massillon Washington vs #5 Big Walnut | 2022 D2 Regional Semifinal

The D2 Regional Semifinal kicked off at a rainy Arlin Field in Mansfield on Friday Night as #1 Massillon Washington and #5 Big Walnut met for a rematch of last year's Regional Semifinal game!
The intensity began from the opening kick as Big Walnut's Nate Severs took it 91 yards to put the Eagles on the board first, the extra point would be missed, 6-0 Eagles.
On their first offensive play, Tiger QB Jalen Slaughter would be intercepted, leading to an eventual 19 yard field goal from Cam Gladden to extend the Eagle's lead to 9-0.
The Tigers would respond in impressive fashion on both sides of the ball. Giving up no points defensively, Massillon would score three unanswered touchdowns (Willtrell Hartson rushing TD's of 5 and 10 YDS / Jalen Slaughter to Braylyn Toles 45 YD TD Pass) to give themselves a 21-9 lead heading into halftime.
Massillon would score first in the second half as Willtrell Hartson took it 79 yards to put the Tigers up 28-9 with 8:16 in the third quarter.
Big Walnut would respond almost two minutes later as Nate Severs found a lane and took it 40 yards to reduce the deficit back to a thirteen-point game.
In the final quarter of play, the Tigers would finish the job outscoring Big Walnut 14-6 in the fourth to earn a 42-21 victory over the Eagles.
#1 Massillon Washington advances to the D2 Regional Final Game where they will face the Lake Blue Streaks.
