Great review! I'm happy to have found your channel. I love The Shining and am on my way to reading all of King's works. I do think, however, that the movie is also awesome in its own way. I know King hated it because it was not true to the original text, but it is still a brilliant, iconic horror movie.
Thanks! And agreed about the movie. Lots of iconic cinematography and music that you just can't get from a literary experience. Side note: I was watching an interview with Martin Scorsese and he said that he liked to watch Kubrick films with the sound off. He was talking specifically about the shining and I think he mentioned that bathroom scene with Mr. Grady. I keep meaning to watch that scene on mute to figure out what he was talking about.
I think I'll always wonder what a true to the book version of The Shining would look like. They did that TV miniseries which was closer to the book, but I thought it was terribly made and I couldn't get through it. I'm sure there's a great movie that could be made from the book that would be true to what the book was going for. Maybe one day...
...and SHIT loads of other stuff... Well, that was literally like, 3 things that happened in the Shining. Thanks for watching 😆

I read the shining book this winter it was good to me Stanley Kubrick shouldn't had changed certain things from the book in his version of the shining
