I know that they have had the original Amanda guest on the Locker Room. I would love it if they could get Ben, Eve, and Diane to appear on the Locker Room. Would love to see how they are all doing!
Stephen Yates was absolutely fantastic as Ben McFarren. Such a gifted actor!!! I love the quiet, subtle approach he took to the character. Such good looks, charm, charisma. He was absolutely dashing!!!! I'm not sure if it was his decision to leave G/L or if he was written out at that time. I believe he moved on "Another World" post G/L, however, I am not sure where he is today.
Absolutely!!! G/L was such an incredible show under the Dobson's and their successor Doug Marland. This was truly the golden era of G/L. You are so right. In 1983, Pam Long took over and decimated the Bauers (unnecessarily killed off Hillary, uncharacteristically turned Hope into a lush and then her out, send Mike Bauer packing and unfortunately Charita Bauer passed away). She also destroyed the Reardon family. Although there were some entertaining and thrilling moments on G/L under Pam Long's regime, the entire history of the show stripped from the canvas in favor of the Lewis and Shayne families.
@@erikparker6501 Unfortunately Pam cleaned house. G/L ironically briefly went to #1 in 1984 but the wrong message was sent and Pam went further in destroying the foundation. Additionally, except Vanessa and Ross, all of Doug Marland's creations were gone by 1985. Ross was a Dobson creation
@@aphillyate1 Absolutely. It's so ironic that G/L as a top 5 soap under the Dobson's and Doug Marland's regime in the late 70's and early 80's was far superior to the G/L that briefly went to #1 in 1984 under Pam Long.
comments below so true. after GL became the Reva Shane show and those hillbillies the Lewis's arrived and it became a teen soap and all the core, crucial characters were thoughtlessly written out, to me the show was over. can you imagine if diane had not been killed and tried to take spaulding away from alan with all the stock she had?
I totally agree. When the hillbillies came on and that was the true end of classic GL. Of course different regimes did some back pedaling but not enough to save and restore the classic juggernaut that was Guiding Light.
I believe that it was mentioned sometime during 1983 that he and Eve had moved to Europe - just hurredly, casually written off. Don't know whatever happened to Stephen Yates after his stint as Jamie Frame on Another World.
I miss watching The Guiding Light..best soap ever!
First soap i got hooked on. It came on after I got off work at 11:30 am.

Ben n eve were a good couple.

Here for it! I believe it's a shame that so many Dobson creations faded after 1983. Ben McFadden was GL's leading man.

Whatever happened to his character? Whatever happened to the actor who portrayed him?
