This is shell from palm beach gardens Florida. Funny you had this video on today. When i was 15 years old we lived out in the Midwest and we got a lot of snow. We had a cub cadet mower small tractor to plow our driveway in the winter and cut the grass in the summer. It was a big property and a long driveway . i was running the plow during a storm once and the blade got caught in a divet in the driveway and it ripped the surface material up. My dad was not happy bit i didn't get in trouble.
Hello, Very good material indeed. Here in Belgium, most of northern europe only this is used for municipal and airport winter purposes. Steel is considered "stone age"😂 . Rubber is also still in use for very delicate undergrounds because brushes are far more expencive. Cheers from Belgium. Nice promotional video for this material.👍
UHMW is the way to go for snow removal, I have had mine on for 3 winters in MN and it still looks great. I leave it on my blade year round and use it to level rock and dirt with no issues! If it ever wears out I will definitely buy it again!
Nice comparison, however, my experience is that uhmw does NOT last longer than steel. That said, it is still my edge of choice to prevent driveway scraping on customer's pavement.
Hello, I received my UHMW Edges and Runners that I purchased from you and can attest that everything arrived unscathed. Thank you for the recommendation and I can't wait to use these on the HLA Snow Pusher.
Yes, good cheap alternative to rubber for smaller plows. Not good at scraping through packed snow. Not as durable as UHMW or steel. Would have to double stack for larger or heavy duty applications.
On our 10ft box i hated the steel edge cuz it had no trip so i had a semi tire and i cut the side walls off and had a 10 inch strip of tread and it was supper tough
I tried horse matt for 3 seasons. Each of them tore and it was very difficult to cut. My recommendation to any one thinking of horse matt is be ready for some work.
I know you advocate for not using buckets to move snow, but is it possible to get a bolt on polymer edge for my GC's bucket? The Pushers and Blowers are out of my price range for a long while.
How does the uhmw blade work on plowing gravel driveways and portions of roads where the local plow trucks put down gravel on topnof paved roads as they plow?
You can add a piece of the UHMW to my order please. I've made arrangements to pickup the pusher when it comes in so that can go with it. I'll replace the steel edge on backblade with the UHMW. Great instruction video.
I use the rubber edge on my 54 inch blade. It works like a squeegee on hard surfaces but as you say it will not work with packed snow or ice. The rubber has to be clamped with the steel blade. I want to put UHMW on my 60 inch loader mounted snow blade. Deere's kit includes a steel clamp and is very expensive.
Ordered my uhmw yesterday. Does it make any sense to put the old steel edge on top of the uhmw like a sandwich? Yes, I’d let the uhmw protrude out front about 1/2”. Curious???
Got my uhmw on Monday, a day earlier than expected. Will install today for Thursday’s expected snowfall here in central Wisconsin. Thanks for the information you provided about this product and vendor.
Hello! What “thickness” of UHMW is recommended for the HLA 1500 series snow pusher when it comes to the main cutting edge, the skid shoes and the back drag? Also, if I have the welded steel back drag can I add the UHMW cutting edge to it - or should I have bought a different back drag initially? Thx.
We don't typically get a lot of snow here in Kentucky. Any suggestions if someone wants to use a front bucket? I can't see investing in snow removal equipment when we might use it 3 or 4 times a year.
I have an X739 with a 72” snow blade equipped with a UHMW edge. I have plowed snow out of (several) neighbors’ driveways… in the wee hours of the morning… without them even hearing it. 👍🏼😊 DISCLAIMER: I did purchase my UHMW edge from Good Works Tractor. I had no purchase incentive from GWT, although, I will defiantly purchase from GWT again. This is an honest review. #JohnDeereEmployee
@@GoodWorksTractors Excellent! We had the driveway repaved this past summer and I have already been out there with a scrub brush and water clearing marks made by the stones along the edge. If I put marks up and down it this winter with the snow thrower, my head will be on a pike at the bottom of the driveway! LOL

These videos you make are such a help for new Tractor owners man. I’m very appreciative thanks
Glad to hear it!
Hearing a snowplow in the middle of the night is a GREAT, comforting sound. It means I can get out in the morning!
Haha, good point!
@@mikegraziano1562 , Why did you decide on a 2032 over the 2038? Did you ever consider a 2025? Considering on getting one myself. Thanks.

use it level rock do you scoop it too, I used my tractor in summer to scope breaker run and gravel so wondering how it would hold up to that
UPS guy brought mine today. Thanks! Good video!
Urethane is a great snow plow EDGE. Good advice for the UPPIES!!!
After watching this im glad that you sent me the UHMW
Yessiree :) Thanks again!
Okay, you’ve sold me on the UHMW! Going to go to your site and order one now!

Is there a bolt on rubber edge for a John Deere 1025r bucket like the bolt on tooth bar
Hello, I received my UHMW Edges and Runners that I purchased from you and can attest that everything arrived unscathed. Thank you for the recommendation and I can't wait to use these on the HLA Snow Pusher.
I bought a piece of 3/4" horse matt at Rural King and cut it down to make my own edge. It is very durable and lasts and is MUCH cheaper.

We have a very steep driveway. We have to clear it down to bare pavement in order to drive up and down. Will the UHMW clean as well as rubber?
I think UHMW cleans much better than rubber.

GREAT overview! I may be asking you about the UHMW for my rig after I flip my rubber edge. It is wearing out at a frightening rate.
Can't like! Except I like understanding! I like where I am at! Hope your day is good

Yes, use a steel retainer for rubber. Thanks for watching!
Can I get a rubber or composite blade for my land pride box blade?
Ordered my uhmw yesterday. Does it make any sense to put the old steel edge on top of the uhmw like a sandwich? Yes, I’d let the uhmw protrude out front about 1/2”. Curious???
I don't think the extra steel is necessary, but wouldn't hurt anything either.

With the poly or rubber cutting edges do you need the skid shoes on the plow or can you leave them off?
I cut strips out of the tread of old tires. I get 4 out of my truck tire and get about 2 seasons out of each strip. Slow cutting but they work well
Use a semi tire. Way thicker
@@jamespetrich5610 I don't have any. Only my diesel pickup truck tires 🤷♂️
Great video. My finance committee says not yet. I will be down to see you when it's time

Finance commitee.... Boy, do I understand that! I even have a CFO who oversees the budget. Good thing I love her! :)
"No oranges here" good one!
I need some of this UHMW for my ATV plow. I’ll give you a shout.
How much is the whmu?

Look at Edge Tamers.
I have the same thing for my john deer 10/25. I have a question. Is it ok if the knives are in steel for my driveway who is in asphalt
Not sure what you mean by knives.
@@GoodWorksTractors excuse me

Courtney, I wish you would offer a bolt on solution for a 1025R 53” bucket. You’d sell a ton of them. Me first.
Trying to find a good attachment method is my main obstacle.
How much does the uhmw plastic cost per foot ...
Howdy, pricing is in the listing. I keep it out of videos and comments because pricing changes over time.
Pretty cheap on ebay
Yes love your channel
Thanks for following along Billy!

I could be wrong with my number but UHMW is 20 times more wear resistant than steel.
sounds like you take a few old car tires and cut them into strips and save more money than Geico
I need a phone number to order a poly Cutting Edge
For someone dealing with areas that have raised concrete edges on driveway and sidewalk slabs, what is the safest edge on a rear blade?
Rubber or UHMW. Not steel.
@@GoodWorksTractors Well, I'd figured that. Wasn't sure if rubber would flex better if it got a catch, or if it would take a chunk out.
