its not bacon, its cured pork cheek, called "Guanciale" in italian, from Guancia = Cheek

It is another part of the pork but the "meaning" about bacon and guanciale are similar. Guanciale is tastier but it is also fatter and more expensive ... unlike many other Italians, I maintain that pancetta (of good quality) is a good substitute for guanciale (if you don't find guanciale).

Oh goodness sorry about that haha. That explains why it is soooo much better than bacon. And yes the Hawaiian pizza subject can be sensitive to Italians I guess, it is like blasphemy 😁

P.S. next time try some different gelaterie, for example Otaleg in Trastevere, which uses very high quality ingredients.

Traditional Carbonara is done with Pigs cheek, Guancaile. One of my favorite dishes to make, but I use bacon. It is one of my dreams to visit Rome. Hopefully I'll visit before I perish.
But for real try to make it, very easy, extremely satisfying!!
there are distinct difference between the dough used in pizza from Naples and pizza from rome . the dough we use in rome dates back fro the ancient romans who used to call it ''PINSA'' the flour is a mixture of ''00' flour and flour from soy, chickpeas . this makes it very light and easy to digest compared to the neapolitan style that uses only ''OO' wheat flour

100% agree on gelateria la romana. Best Gelato I ever had in my live and in Rome. Also Cacio e pepe is my favorite pasta now. I actually liked pizzeria la bocacchia in trastevere better than Bonci. Better prices,too.

Im keeping some of these addresses in my back pocket...i love these pockets/sandwiches, they have a place in Florence too, ive only tried their vege and vegan options and they were really tasty! Italians are so good at packing up flavours...i cant wait to be allowed in italy again.

Hi Guys, I love Rome! I stayed for 2 weeks in an apartment just off Piazza Navona back in 2017. Your video brought back so many wonderful memories. Italy is an amazing Country and is on my must return list. (Covid permitting, as we are currently in a severe lockdown, in Sydney, again! )

@Suzanne Tunks: in Istanbul we parked in a car park where you can also stay overnight with campers. In Rome we parked at a camping ground (paid). It is not advised to leave your camper in a normal street parking lot in Rome, we have heard may stories of campers being burgled there

Enzo is a very good place to eat, but a bit more expensive than other traditional roman restaurants, but it's fair cause he uses only top quality products. You should have tried the tripes, it's so good.
