What I really like about Steve Austin is that he's not afraid to admit when he was the problem, you hear all these wrestlers doing shoot interviews that had a thousand problems in their career and none of them were their fault 😂
Yep, and everyone likes to blame Hogan, yet they themselves were no better. Shawn Michaels was a whiny baby and he was mad he couldn't beat Hogan so he threw a silly fit in the ring by over selling more than he already did. What a joke. Hogan might have had reignnin the backstage politics, but he earned it. He put in the work. People like Shawn wanted shit handed to him on a platter. He was so far up McMahon's ass that he was coming out of McMahon's ears. Stone Cold will man up, and even Hogan will admit when he's wrong. Guys like Michaels still think they are the greatest of all time. Even Bret Hart was a big cry baby.
Unpopular opinion perhaps, but I think in hindsight, Hogan vs Austin should have been the main event of Wrestlemania 19. Rock vs Austin was good, and Hogan vs McMahon was decent, but I think it would have been more iconic if it were Hogan vs Austin in what would turn out to be the last Wrestlemania match for both of them.
@@captainjaber5610, I think it's possible they both would've been cheered. They had the best crowd reactions of the night and the most signs. Stone Cold already got cheered at a pre-show for saying he didn't give a rat's ass about Hulk Hogan's match with Vince, and the fans were into the actual match.
An NWO Hogan vs SCSA wouldve worked and drew well. The Red and Yellow in 2003 vs SCSA wouldnt have been as good. Hogan being able to cower off of Steve and do his heelish shit with a big Austin comeback and stunner out of nowhere wouldve been big. An NWO Hogan wouldve been cheered some vs SCSA in 2003, but not to the level he was in 02.
Two biggest attractions in the history of WWF/WWE and quite possibly the history of the business. Austin didn't like Hogan, it was pretty clear. Wasn't going to job to him (and at that time shouldn't have either). He must have watched that WM18 match with Hogan/Rock and just shook his head.....They did nothing and had the crowd in the palms of their hands.....meanwhile Steve wrestled Scott Hall and nobody gave a shit. They lost a ton of money not working a program together. Damn shame....
I think if Austin and Scott Hall had been in a better place mentally and physically their program would have been ALOT better.....I mean honestly that match should have taken place at a rumble or summerslam it wasnt a wrestlemania caliber match....But yea....He could have had Hogan at Mania if he would have gotten out of his own way...But Rock got the call and its a master class in "less is more"
careful u will get soime idiot telling u the rock is bigger then stone cold lol peace out ps lots didnt like hogan not because howmpopu;lar he was but he was so hard to work with ps im australian
I think Steve saw how the crowd had universally sided with Hulk over Rock and that scared him a bit I think. Rock was so over in 2002 it was unreal and to see Hulk Hogan come in and basically take the top baby face spot from him was something to see. Steve saw the way the crowd started to turn on Rock after that night and never wanted to put himself in that position.
@@robwinn1522 How can any crowd boo the fucking man who basically put that damn company back on the map and was the only star to reach and achieve what Hogan did. Hogan vs Austin Just Does Not Sound Right...Cant Picture Them Wrestling Against Eachother...Not Exactly Sure Why...Maybe This is Another Reason Why it Never Happened...Austin is Also 100% Right About Hogan
He mocked him cause he was hurt, just like most of em are...he wanted to work with him in wcw but when that idea was shot down he held a grudge, that's why he tried to big league him in 2002 only for it to bite him in the ass.😂
You're right- he truly did think that about Hulk Hogan at the time. But what he's realized since then- and what he's admitting here -is that he was the one who was in the wrong, not Hogan. He'd been so overworked and over exposed by Vince by that point that he'd become perpetually cranky, suspicious, and embittered. He's confessing that he never gave Hogan a fair chance when he returned to WWE when he (Steve) should have. He'd already had his mind made up about Hulk Hogan based on backstage rumors and horror stories of Hogan's antics behind the scenes with those who'd worked with him before. Virtually everyone in WWE's locker room at the time said Hogan was on his best behavior. No politicking or high handing the lower card guys backstage. He didn't bring his ego back with him when he returned either. The consensus of Hogan backstage- according to what The Rock, Chris Jericho, Booker T, and Edge & Christian have all said since then -was that Hogan was just grateful to have his long sought wish to return to WWE and finish out his career and retire from pro wrestling as a member of the WWE.
Well yea Rock is gonna go be better than Austin.....Austin had 13 years in opposed to Rocks 6 and 3 quarter years.....Austin's neck was awful, both knees where shot and he was downing black coffee and beer every day to survive the road.....I think we all wished we could have seen Hogan and Austin.....But that ship was never gonna come into port ever.....and Rock vs Hogan is a master class to show all wrestling students how to do more with less
i know brother, but you gotta understand that 2002 was the worst year for steve austin & the rock because austin turned down working with hogan & refusing to put over the upcoming mega star brock lesnar. hulk hogan's 2002 run was amazing & i'll go through the matches he fought from wrestlemania until august: wrestlemania 18 lost to the rock backlash 2002 defeated triple h for the undisputed title judgement day 2002 lost to undertaker for the undisputed title king of the ring 2002 lost to kurt angle smackdown july 4th, 2002 hogan & edge defeated billy & chuck to win the tag titles vengeance 2002 hogan & edge lost to lance storm & christian for the tag titles august 8th, 2002 lost to brock lesnar hulk hogan had memorable matches & feuds in 2002-03 & he PUT OVER brock lesnar cleanly in which steve austin couldn't do. 2002 proved to be a massive year for hogan, angle, lesnar ,triple h & undertaker ,but it was terrible for austin & rock because rock was already leaving for hollywood & austin was unhappy with the booking decisions & the domestic abuse really bugged him from a personal level.

Sub Zero spot on. Hogan Austin rock and taker are my Mount Rushmore of wrestling. They all gave back to the business.
Facts. Its sad to hear old wrestlers blame everyone else

Who plays heel? Seattle wasn’t booing Austin, if Hogan attacks Austin in Seattle, the likelihood is he’ll get booed.

They wouldn't have turned on austin like that I don't think. It would have been more even like wrestlemania 17 rock vs Austin
You can't judge it based on that crowd at Wrestlemania 17. That was a hometown Texas crowd. They were going to cheer Austin all night over Rock.
