Does a 'blind' ranking, has a Steve Wonder album at number one😂
💀
I actually see what you did there.
That's racist.
@@devzeppelinhe didn’t
He ain’t blind tho
Bro didn't even hesitate before putting Rubber Soul at 4th 💀💀💀
Mid
It's a good, maybe even a great album. Yet it was still the weakest out of every album he got today. He made the right call.
It wasn’t their best, but it’s still noteworthy as it began their transition away from being a pop boy band and becoming experimental.
They had just met Dylan, started messing around with pot and LSD, and it showed in their music. It’s even in their terrific Anthology book.
Was it their best? No. But it was still solid with some real high points (so to speak) and became their jumping off platform. In My Life, I’m Looking Through You, You Won’t See Me, and Norwegian Wood are all stellar among other good tunes.
Lmao everyone in the replies straight up defending his choice
I kinda agree with what ya'll are trying to say, but come on, how can you not see the appeal? It is easily the comfiest and most nostalgic-sounding album in their catalogue before they went even more sicko mode with experimentation.
rubber soul had some absolutely amazing songs like in my life and nowhere man, but the remains of pre-rubber soul beatles was still there with The Word and Run For Your Life to name a few, that are just nowhere near as interesting or good as the highlights on the album
Well, it's in the name. In theory, it's gotta be on the low end of the list.
I love this comment
Good comment!
Bruh jokes aside 😂the record is far better then rubber soul even though RUBsoul is catchy and has a lot of good trackss. LET is above it anyday
Cringe comment
@@Andy-bh8hw Facts though
never seen someone call Coltrane just "John" lmao
They're on a first name basis.
Real fans call him Dave
An actual jazz listener/enthusiast/musician would call him Trane. 😁

Anthinoy Fanta
It's always Fantano leaving the number 5 or C tier spot vacant when doing blind rankings, and then a fantastic record appears
You fumbled the bag at the end fantana
Fantana💀
Fantanthony
Songs in the key of life absolute classic
Rubber soul at 4 hurts
Fantano really got all the beatles fans crying with this one
Nah I agree with this one. I love Rubber Soul but I never understand people saying like its on the level of Revolver or even better lol
@@gdvitor6566it’s definitely a more enjoyable listen than the snooze fest that is Sgt Peppers
@@gdvitor6566It's literally better than Revolver though
@@natehaskey9300 Maybe its more enjoyable, but Pepper's has a better flow for me, it feels like a diferent experience, not only diferent songs. Its way more experimental and thats why I like it way more than Rubber. Track by track you could argue that Rubber Soul has better songs, but as a whole Sgt Pepper's is a better experience
@@artaaangels Nah. Track by track Revolver probably stomps Rubber Soul, and its way more experimental and has more quality and creativity. The only thing about Revolver though is the lack of cohesion in Yellow Submarine, that for me doesn't fit in the album, but besides that the album melts perfectly a lot of diferent genres in a great way, having a perfect flow, defo way better than Rubber, that has some tracks that are kinda uh
Fantanos the type of guy to dislike Run For Your Life because of its lyrics
this was exactly what I thought when he put it at 4 💀
LITTLE GEHL
I wish it didn't go so hard
Could be too relatable some of the recent months
@@NamelessInternaut It's just a song Cheech
Love supreme #1 all day
Rubber Soul at 4 is mad
Bro plays it too safe and gets destroyed in the end
Huge Tribe fan, but this is accurate.
Pretty fair list. Stevie’s album has absolutely no skips, Coltrane is incredible, LZ IV is beautiful, A Tribe Called Quest is great but it just isn’t quite as influential as the others. It ended-up in a weird list, whereas for 90’s albums it would rank higher.
I love how everyone and their mom unanimously agrees that Songs in the Key of Life is amazing
if low end theory didn't exist, tpab would probably sound extremely different
🤓
Kanye said once that blame Tribe for what he's doing, cause they inspired him the most (it was around late 2000s not now lmao)
Sin of omission
As much as I love The Low End Theory (one of my top 50 albums OAT), this was honestly a pretty fair ranking considering the relevance and quality of the rest of the albums.
Yeah, tbh SitKoL is a top 5
@@paulncindyhome Just heard that album for the first time recently, literally blew me away. One of the best listening experiences I’ve had in my life.
Exactly.
TLET is great and all, but ranked against Rubber Soul, Led Zep 4, Love Supreme and SITMFKOL? How would it outrank unless you overrated it by a decent margin.
The _only_ album you could conceivably do this with is Beatles, and even then it's a maybe. TLET is definitely in the top 5 jazz rap albums ever (though personally I prefer Midnight Marauders, and even sometimes We Got It From Here), but how do you place it above the Beatles album that was so groundbreaking it influenced the making of Pet Sounds, Aftermath, and VU&Nico?
@@bluelines2287TF you talking about?
Said that LZ isnt influential is such stupid take, man these dudes are one of the first bands that beging the way for born of metal bands.
A album with Stairway to Heaven, The Battle of Evemore, When The Leeve Breaks and Black Dog cant be behind of TLET that dont has tracks with the impact and legacy in music history that Zeppelin made with LZ IV.
Man the comments acting like Tribe didn’t give rap a new sound it crazy
Rubber Soul is so fucking gas dude
I love rubber soul. Yeah it’s not their best but it so charming. And It’s the first Beatle album that I love
The list is dope regardless of order 🔥
my favorite beatles album💔
Rubber Soul is one of the best.
But not THE best
Would take a couple Beatles projects over it personally, but it’s still a great record.
Every Beatles album is overrated cheeks
No it’s definitely not
Yo fantano, cool video idea. You can always do a video going back to your live ranking and then do the actual ranking that you believe the albums, songs, or artists really deserve on your list.
My respect for Fantano skyrocketed when he put A Love Supreme at 2 🔥 thanks Melon
For me it's:
1. Coltrane
2. Stevie
3. Zep
4. Tribe
5. Beatles
I love those videos
>Coltrane
>Not #1
Yup I'm thinking filtered.
All the 5 are great albums.
A Love Supreme at #1 for me. No question.
think I understand now why you don't share ye classic album takes more often felanto
First time I’ve seen the melon acknowledge jazz
Fanta needs to up his game
My List:
1- Songs In The Key Of Life
2- Led Zeppelin IV
3- A Love Supreme
4- The Low End Theory
5- Rubber Soul
I guess fantano doesn't like to drive his car
I do agree with A Love Supreme being one of the "best jazz albums of all time". That being said, it's not that simple to say, there's too many outstanding jazz records, the genre is too extensive and varied; it's filled to the brim with talent, and great musicianship. So the "no question", is questionable, even though it's not necessarily wrong. 😌
In my personal preference, I would've placed it at the top. But I love all of the five records in this rank. 😁🍻
Yeah I didn't get the "I'm big into jazz" vibe off of this one. But he definitely knows the album which is good
You agree its one of the best jazz records but then disagree because jazz is too varied? Which one is it?
@@jdb5961 "A Love Supreme" IS "one of the best jazz albums of all time". Also, A LOT of jazz records ARE "one of the best jazz albums of all time".
So, the answer to your question, is; yes. 😁
Jazz is too vast in its quality, to this day; so it's way bigger than a simple "one of the best -insert music genre- albums of all time" tag.
It's not really a tag you throw around much, when you have so many amazing and influential records by artists like Miles Davis, Wes Montgomery, Trane, Alice Coltrane, Herbie Hancock, Bill Evans, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone, Frank Sinatra, Chick Corea, Joe Pass, Pat Metheny, Jaco Pastorius, Charles Mingus, Keith Jarrett, Django Reinhardt, Monk, Oscar Peterson, Julian Lage, Clifford Brown, Freddie Hubbard, Chet Baker, etc, etc, etc, etc.
It just becomes redundant and dry (kind of out of place, also) to think about like that. It doesn't really work in the genre. Same would happen, although with some fundamental differences, in classical music.
There's no "no question" (like Anthony says, in the video), in jazz/classical music. So I agree, even though I disagree. It's not a "black or white" topic, and it's not a "black or white" answer. 😁
@@Caleb-zl4wk Absolutely. 😌🍻
have you listened to every music ever?
Love Supreme should be 1 bruv
Over Stevie Wonder?

Coltrane was an easy number 1
Well considering the four albums that came before it, its no shade to have low end theory at five
The rankings are pretty much right
1. a love supreme
2. led zeppelin iv
3. rubber soul
4. songs in the key of life
5. low end theory
...huh.
If you get Coltrane, you should really enjoy Stevie as well. SitKoL is the epithome of pop music imo, clearly above the other 3 albums.
Rubber Soul at 4 is insane wtf
Every album he got is better than Rubber Soul
no it's not

Yeah should have been 5

theory has been proven im afraid
1. Led Zeppelin IV
2. Stevie Wonder- Songs In The Key of Life
3. John Coltrane- A Love Supreme
4. A Tribe Called Quest- Low End Theory
5. The Beatles- Rubber Soul
Love Supreme is an automatic #1! what are you doing melon
Absolutely. A safe 2 for one of the greatest records of all time? Lmao
on the low he doesnt really know jazz even though he acts like he does
@@daybrink1267we keep it on the down low tho bro can't know ab everything. And songs in the key of life is the album you'd choose to contend A Love Supreme.
@@Caleb-zl4wk its true, songs of the key of life is a good pick for #1. If I got sitkol on a blind ranking I'd probably put it 1 but if I got a love supreme it goes straight to one for me. I just wish he would do a classic review for chick corea, mccoy, freddie hubbard, or even someone more commonly popular like trane.
@@daybrink1267 I think you need more experience with jazz than just cursory knowledge to jump in there and review McCoy Tyner. You’d either love him or have a stroke 2 minutes into Four by Five.
Anthony bringing out the red flannel for The Low End Theory, you hate to see it, you really do
The two things that upset me the most about this blind ranking is The Beatles not getting 5th spot and that TLET showing up at the end, so it couldn't be on the top 3
I don’t know if I’ve ever heard melon talk about A Love Supreme but I’m glad he likes it👍
love supreme was 1st man
There’s something so wrong about seeing a guy like Fantano say anything remotely negative about Rubber Soul
(All love I get it😂)
i think Rubber Soul at 4 is pretty valid, like they have better records and putting SITKOL, ALS and LZ IV above it is pretty valid
Magic 2 review now!
Nah A tribe called quest is too goated for that spot melon held an L

Where can I find these apps that he does in his shorts?
rubbet soul is the best beatles album

Key of Life should have been at 5. Love the record, but I saw that fumbled ending coming
I put them all in the same spots (just swapping Coltrane and Zeppelin). Low End theory made me so pissed
Though tbh I would put it at 3 or 4 compared to the others
which filter is this?

1) Led Zeppelin 4
2) Songs in the Key of Life
3) Low End Theory
4) A Love Supreme

@@lkusler_ I love Rubber Soul but I prefer Low End Theory more. It was a first jazz rap album I've listened and I was so amazed how smooth the production and it destroyed my stereotype that rap is always offensive.
TLET isnt even closer to Legacy in music history that LZ IV.

Stevie John Led Beatles NOOOOO
Rubber Soul is not FAR from the best Beatles album. But it isn’t their best work either.
Revolver and Abbey Road are the 🐐🐐🐐
Agree
Yeah Rubber Soul was the beginning of the Beatles just making non-stop amazing albums and it's hard to pick from them cause they're all so good in different ways
@@LuckIsImpossible True. I was very much like one of those Beatle Bible thumpers back in high school and probably turned more people off to the Beatles then on.
Now, I just tell people to explore them at their own pace, and that their albums are so wildly different so there’s an album for you to enjoy, at least one.

False it’s number one easy
Rubber Soul smokes LZ4
Nah, honestly Rubber Soul is defo weaker than Physical Graffiti and IV by a long margin
Led Zeppelin is just better than The Beatles in general. Both bands are goated tho
@@whydalukaton5818 Not really IMO. The Beatles in general have better records (though Zeppelin has some great ones), they have a beter catallog and variety of songs, they were way more influential and sucessfull. Still LZ had better musicians and Live performances and was a big reference too, but The Beatles are greater in general , still top 1 and 2nd of all time lol. Better is subjective here, its what you like more.
Not a single skip on rubber soul
Run For Your Life?
What Goes On?
