      Hi JeN!
The second comment from me today.
Today’s lesson was special to me because you gave us a riddle.
      It was a splendid attempt!
The riddle was rather hard for me to solve ,but I really enjoyed it.
I guess the answer is his son, right?
I love riddles. They give me the opportunities to learn English with pleasure.
Would you mind if I asked you to give us riddles with “ Question of the Day” at times?
      Have a nice day!
      Ikuo

      Hi JeN!
      What you saying?
      How’s life in The Six?
About my family,my parents have already passed away about 16 or 17 years ago respectively at the age of around 80.
My maternal grandmother was blessed with her longevity until she was 104.However,that is not rare these days in Japan.
I'm married with three children.First daughter, second son,and third daughter. They live independently.I live with my wife now.🎵We're all alone ( by Boz Scaggs).
My first daughter is a public servant like me.She lives in Osaka and I'm worried about an exponential surge of COVID-19 infections there.
My second son is also a civil servant. He and his wife live in an apartment house within a walking distance from my place. So,they sometimes come to our dwelling to have lunch or dinner together with us and we enjoy playing mahjong without betting.
My third daughter once worked for a junior high school as a school staff in Saga Prefecture. She called an end to her job in a year and has gone to France. She is a would-be artist.I reckon she's good at drawing, painting, and calligraphy to some extent. She has been teaching calligraphy to the French.
In any case,I hope they will enjoy their lives peacefully.
      Have a nice weekend.
May God keep your land glorious and free!
      Ikuo from Nagasaki,Japan.

My family and I live in Punjab, India. I have an extended family as I live in a joint family. I live with my parents , grandparents , uncle and one sister. We live happily in our home and understand each other's feelings immensely. My father is the protagonist in the movie of my happy family. We all are dependent on him as he is the only one who is earning yet from my family. I love my family unconditionally.

    Hi JeN!
I got a notification about your lesson around 4 p.m. on May 19th.I'm worried that you have been burning the midnight oil.
I know you are always gung ho to teach us new lessons each week.
However, please don't burn the candle at both ends!
I'm cheering on you all the way from Nagasaki,Japan.
The theme of the lesson was quite attractive also this time.
I was so interested in the topic that I've watched the video for four times in a row.
You looked absolutely stunning in that kimono as the bride.
I'm sure you were pleased to tie the knot in Japanese way.
I think I'm familiar with lots of words, phrases and expressions about family.
However,I was able to realize the meaning of some words again.
    For instance,godfather,estranged and descendants.
Particularly, your explanation about the word ’ descendants ‘
by using a staircase was really understandable!
I'd like to write about my family next time.
    Have a good one.
    Ikuo from Japan.

Jen, thank you so much for this video.
I have been making a genealogical tree of my family. The names of my third great-grandparents were Pomposo Montes and Luz Franco. They were probably born in the 1870s or before.

Wow 🤩. That's so interesting. I have no idea who any of my great grandparents were, so it is really cool that you have been able to find out so much information about your family 👍🏻🌸. I wish you even more success as you work on completing your family tree 🌳 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦.

Thanks, Anne. They were a gift from a friend because origami cranes were a theme at my wedding. My husband and I tried to get our guests to help us fold 1000 paper cranes so we could make a special wish for our future together 😁.

Hi Jen, in this interesting lesson, estranged was the new word for me. About your question of the day: My parents had two children, my sister and I. My wife and I have had two, a boy and a girl. The girl was born in Madrid and the boy in Montreal (Canada). My daughter, married have three children.
The tricky riddle, is quite interesting to think about. In a way it looks like being a nephew, but no, because brothers and sisters he has none (??)😉 perhaps is my son?😨 Will you tell the answer? Un acertijo muy curioso. A very curious riddle😄

To be honest, my first impression about this video wasn’t that good. When I read the title, at the beginning, I found it kind of a boring and expendable topic. 😳However, I totally shocked 😮 how many new words and informations I have learned from this incredible video!
    My new vocabulary.
Siblings. Maternal/paternal. Godparents. Estranged. Ancestors. Descendants.
Also, I like this sentence (In my grandfather’s generation, many people didn’t have a TV in their house, let alone a computer with internet access.) This is the first time I heard the phrase (let alone.)Is it ok to use it in a formal situation or writing? And can I use nor, neither or the word rather instead?
I like the expression (On his death bed🥺) too, we do have a similar one in Arabic.
Thank for sharing your pictures with us, I think you take after your mother, you both are so pretty. 😍By the way, you look so adorable in this beautiful wedding dress 🤩and so cute in that traditional japanese cloth. (Is that a good parallelism sentence😬 ?)
For the riddle, I think the man who is in the photo is the son of the same person who is talking ,🤔isn’t he?
Thank you so much for your effort! You are a great teacher👍🏻🌷

Are Step brother and half brother the same?

    • @JeNsJyugyou
      @JeNsJyugyou  2 роки тому

Thanks for the question✨. A step brother and a Half brother are NOT the same. If you have a half brother, it means that you share a parent. You either have the same mother or the same father. If you have a step brother, it means that his mother or father married your mother or father, but you don't share any DNA. A step brother is related by marriage, whereas a half brother is related through having one common parent. I hope that helps 🤗.

Hi Ahmed 😎. If you had a son and your son got married, then his wife would be your daughter-in-law. You would be her father-in-law. So my husband is my mother's son-in-law. I hope that helps clear it up a bit 🤗.
