  • After 19 years, Sergeant Roy Woodlief retired from the Wake County Sheriff's Office at the end of February.
    Sgt. Woodlief started his career as a deputy in 2004. He never gave up on his dream of joining the Special Response Team and became sergeant over the team.
    In December 2023, Sgt. Woodlief was diagnosed with ALS. Even with this diagnosis and an early retirement, his joy and courage remain unwavering.
