Amazing music...beautiful singing... even beautiful effect with the sky, and the assumption of people in Heaven... but the oddness of piles of garbage onstage, and wtf is the baritone doing at the end?? And the tenor on a KMart horse...It is time for opera (especially the librettists) to be treated with respect. It is NOT a vehicle for warped minded directors to "express themselves," rather their role is to SERVE the art. NOT the other way around.

These productions are part of the Peter Sellars school of staging which originated in New York.
How can anyone pile all that garbage on a stage, with incongruous costuming and oddness during that glorious music???? America and Europe both guilty of art desecration. Anna, I love you... you, the audience, and especially Verdi deserve better. Artists please use your influence over these clueless and destructive productions.
I am not a Netrebko fan but she's bloody good here. The staging is Eurotrash garbage, shameful!
Ugh- horrible set design. Terrible singing. Best to check out Svetlana Vassileva and Renato Brunson’s version. It’s also in UA-cam.
