Tarot has helped me in my life so much. When I first got into it, I honestly didn't care if it was my subconsious or God or whatever speaking through the cards, I just thought why not give it a try? Especially after seeing positive results, why not keep doing it? What do you have to lose? Readings were sometimes harsh, but have immensely helped me better my life. I am so grateful for it. Now years later, I really do believe there is something more, that it connects us to a source and our subconscious both. I have also been diving into learning about different ancient religions and customs and I see the parallels in them all. I think the 'modern' especially western world is currently very disconected from their souls and spirituality, because we try to explain everything away and the honest truth is sometimes, we can't 'know' it all. When you use the tarot or any oracle, you are communing directly with the living Universe. You use the cards to communicate with the Universe, and the Universe uses the cards to communicate back to you. When you speak with someone on a telephone, you do not think that you are talking to the telephone. You understand that the telephone is your link to the person at the other end. Likewise, when you use the tarot, you are not communicating with the cards. Rather, you are using the cards as your link to the living Universe. Using any oracle has nothing to do with your subconscious. You are communicating with the living Universe, not with your subconscious.
The living Universe is another level of consciousness. First, you have your sensory input. Second, you have your ability to make sense of it. That is your consciousness. Then you have your wisdom, and that is your subconscious. Then there is your universal consciousness as Carl Jung taught. Then there is your amala consciousness, which is the same as the mind of the living Universe. The dreams we have while sleeping also come from our amala consciousness. The appearance of omens is a manifestation of our amala consciousness. Any visions we might have are manifestations of our amala consciousness. The amala consciousness of the Universe speaks to us through whatever oracle we are using. Ultimately speaking, the conscious Universe exists as much within us as it does outside us. Ultimately, there is no separation. In Buddhism, that is called esho fune, which means the unification of the self and one's environment. If the Universe were not alive and conscious, it would be impossible for oracles to work. But since the Universe is alive and conscious, and as long as you handle your oracle properly, the answers we receive through our oracles are 100 percent accurate 100 percent of the time. This is because there is nothing that the Universe does not know about itself.

I've recently come back to the path an finding your channel is a total breath of fresh air. Your explanations are so on point and easy to understand, not the grueling next to impossible learning of the group years ago. I feel like I might actually be able to get something out of the cards. Back then it would take me hours to intuit anything out of a reading - Looking back, I was on point with my readings but I didn't know what the heck I was saying, I just looked at the cards in candle light until a thought passed my way. Yeah, I love your content and the way you explain tarot. One thing I'm super curious to hear from you about though: How do you separate energies when do a reading for others, or even yourself? In other words, there is a major life event going on in my life atm and when I try to ask about other aspects of even my own life, the cards frequently if not usually only want to talk about that same life change. It's fine for me now because I don't read for others, but I have been deeply intuitive and correct in the past with my intuition (cards, I Ching, other signs and premonitions) for both myself and for others, with quite specific accuracy, and I've considered eventually trying to read for others. Honestly I'm just more interested in general in honing my psychic skills as opposed to being a more passive (sometimes unwitting) recipient of messages as I have been in the past.
This is a great question. We were just talking about this in my class on Monday. I would be able to teach you over a comment, but the general idea is presence with what is showing up. The more presence and surrender to the energies that show up, the more subtlety you will have in discerning them, but it's something that grows over. Something cool about being present with your experience is that you begin to see how complex things really are. The ego is appreciated as a complex whirlpool of fluid dynamics of so many influences that are connected to everyone and everything in your life.

It’s disappointing that some teachers of Tarot are pinning it down to a simple exercise for your subconscious to interpret pictures in front of you. Sure this can be a small part of it if you find that therapeutic. But make no mistake the Tarot is the Source sending you specific messages for that point of your journey, specific to your question and intentions. Otherwise there would be no “accuracy” to it at all.
I understand how one can feel disappointed with such an approach, but personally I find exactly that approach to be the most appealing to someone like myself, i.e. a person who believes in some sort of divininity but does not treat divine as supernatural, rather an integral part of the reality. Something that we are all connected to via being part of the same reality, existing within the same medium of matter and energy, if you will - with body and spirit being the part of the same reality, even if divided into different stages/dimensions of it. If one so believes, one can find it convincing that our contact with the "source" (however we define it - internal or external, material or metaphysical) can occur simply through the interplay of our brain activity, ourselves as organised matter and information, with a Tarot deck - also being a peace of organised matter and information - providing us with a stimulus. I do not find it sad or disappointing if my Tarot reading is just a conversation with myself, because I as myself emerge from the infinite universe. I find the perspective unifying, rather than reductionist. But then again, I've always shunned Platonism as something that has hurt the Western understanding of reality and human condition, by e.g. paving the way for the Christian philosophers to separate the soul from the body and make us (boradly speaking) shun the latter for the benefit of the former. In a way, I find it a bit self-contradictory when Joe integrates Platonism with several Eastern philosophies that seem to be its polar opposites, but it could be just my ignorance of each other's intricacies. He certainly encourages one to learn more.
Joe, thank you for the background. How come some readers doing a zodiac reading get the cards turned over which describes what that zodiac sign is going through? It is obviously not the reflection or introspection of the reader if it fits somebody halfway around the world.
This is a good questions. There's different theories for and against it. One theory is that they are tapping into the sign itself through the cards instead of the astrology. Readings done for the collective are just that though, so it's always good to be cautious with those.
