Board art to me is like the fruiting body of the skateboard cultural substrate that i have always tripped off .. massive love for all pro graphics and artists in this community
Thomas explained his creative process with such honesty, depth and eloquence. You can clearly see how gifted he is in his craft. He is deliberate and thoughtful about the way he incorporates these ideas and styles into his art…it really shows his passion and his work ethic. There is so much wisdom in the idea that limits sometimes are actually helpful in the creative process. Props to his mom for nurturing Thomas’ creative talents 💛! What a joy to watch him do what he loves! What a great interview!
I am a graphic designer and illustrator and for sure skateboard graphics were the biggest influence on my development as an artist. Thomas‘s artwork is awesome and all the graphics he does are super cool! Very nice to see the process and how it works. My dream is to one day design a board for Santa Cruz as well :)
Hey there do you possibly have a recommendation for anything free software wise I can use with a scanner to refine my art? New to the cad side of things but have drawn all my life
@@YeFartz hey dude, I’m sorry but I don’t know any free softwares. I have always used adobe softwares like illustrator and photoshop and I also used procreate briefly on a friend’s iPad. I would recommend you look for free alternatives to photoshop because it is the most instinctive software IMO. Hope I could help a little.
Thomas is a motivated and fucking skilled artist. His work fits perfectly with the heritage of the brand. Thanks Santa Cruz for respecting your tradition of analog illustration. And I dig the subtle nod to Escher in the "Sketchbook" graphic.
I love this! Thank you Santa Cruz Skateboards for always giving skateboarding exactly what it needs. You have always been the real deal RAW Skateboard Company! Much Love and Eternal Respect!
Thomas is in my opinion the best skateboard artist. I love his art style its got 80s early 90s soul with a new vibe. Winkowski is my favorite skater so to me they make the best team.
As a broken skateboard collector, i appreciate how parts of graphics stay preserved (especially when using rail-guards on the deck.) ie. The graphic wears out in the wheel wells, and at the nose and tail (from ollies, tail smacking tricks, dropping in, noseslides and tailslides, etc.) yet graphics in interior and under trucks always preserved (especially if using rail-guards). Thanks again to the artists who take the consideration of life into mind. As in life of a skateboard, and Life as it is. Dimitri
@@AA-bh3bz I save all my old skateboards and put them on my wall in my shed. I like when graphics contain a message or something, for personal insights or conversation piece. What do u do with ur broken decks?
I would love to know how to get some of my artwork samples to someone at Santa Cruz Skateboards, to see if they might like boards designed in my style.
Artwork creation needs inspiration. I'm glad that Thomas doesn't need to be high on cannabis every day (at least not in this interview, so it seems, due to articulation ability), and/or has ingested an entheogen in the recent past (guessing). The way he eats must be very sophisticated. Breathing ether and feeling his own lgiht and lifeforce from his own raw biome. I have such a high respect for artists who are a part of eternity. I like also how he puts the appropriate amount of legs on each ant on Kevin Braun's board. Also wild superman-air from the WinkiMan at 5:08 This is the kind of isht that makes me want to skate hometown village cobble streets. Dimitri.
Anyone recommend a software to refine hand drawn illustrations? Been drawing for years but want to break into the stream of creating og graphics making my own shapes etc

You folks rule. Love NHS. My Winkowski’s rule.
not sure how old you are?
broke + time = ruined it
money + art = crap / who cares?
@fattihattener big akashic ethernet points for making reference to mushrooms
Thomas is very well spoken, awesome video!

Nice
my dream is this deck with a nose but is my best deck ride !
It reminds me of the grosso toy box
Yoo do some more product pillage videos showing off Santa Cruz and Creature products
I wonder if this guy is paid a base commission for the decks he designs, or if he gets royalties on top of a commission? Stellar job
Man I got a lot of sick winkowski decks I’m blessed for sure. damn I need the aquatic day tho 😂 really enjoyed this
KILLLLER!
Weird my name is Erick Mackowski.
