  • Dr Peter Attia says VO2 max is the most important number for predicting how long a person will live. More than any other biomarker. When I learned this I realized I should probably work on improving my own VO2 max. I this video I talk about how I have been working on this and explain how you can too.
NOTE: Using a fitness watch to calculate VO2 max is not the most accurate. It CAN be close and give you a very good idea of where you're at in that regard AND it can help you see if you're making progress. If you want to be 100% accurate you need to do an actual VO2 max test.

You DON'T have to be training to go to the Grand Canyon to work on improving your Vo2 max. Anyone can do it with a little effort and consistent dedication. If longevity and health span are important to you and Dr Attia is right, then improving Vo2 max is very important. I hope this video helps.
    Thanks for watching!

Good information Jared, sure looked like San Tan on the mountain portion of the video, and on the steep section where at the end of steep section the trail takes a sharp right turn by the viewing bench. Looking forward to seeing some of your training videos on other channel

Hey Fran! Yep you got it. My favorite place to train. Goldmine Mountain at San Tan Mountain Regional Park. I'll likely be spending more time there this year. We have plans to go to the GC again this year. Nice hearing from you!

It was difficult to keep to the same HR. I'm going to keep trying to be more consistent though!@@JTJaredTaylor

Where do I get my VO2 max measured?

You'd have to find a place in your area that offers a Vo2 Max test or if you have a reasonably good fitness watch it can tell you. They're not 100% accurate but numerous tests have shown that they can get pretty darn close. Garmin and Apple seem to be the most accurate. Hope that helps.

Peter atia endorses AG1. Which is mediocre. Don't trust much he says.
