It allows any legal gun owner to carry a concealed firearm without the permit and training that was previously required.

I have no problem with taking a class, passing a test. If I don't pass the test I will willingly not own and carry. My problem is begging to sheriffs for permission when I already know the answer will be "no" after they stop laughing. If this checks out, I will start looking for a class to take. I suspect it's not true, as it's always been guns for cops and their good friends only. And just because it's one way on paper doesn't mean it will be that way in practice. I know how cops are, they will take issue with the gun and find something else to arrest me for so they can take it.

What i love about moving to Ohio several years ago is that when you go to the range there are ppl that train you in the basics of fire arm safety. They do it because it’s responsible and not for the extra money. On guard self defense has been great. I’ve even introduced my kids to gun safety. The kids know what’s going on. Definitely a step in the right direction but it doesn’t go far enough. There should be no place that is allowed to deny a law abiding citizen from carrying their weapon(s). Every type of place that has been illegally made a “gun free” zone, better known as a “do a massacre here” zone, has been attacked one or more times in the past with large losses of innocent life. Being “gun free” literally invites attack. It is not a question of if, but of when and where.
And this nonsense about training needs to be called out. No one needs to become a world class sniper except for those few whose business is actually to be a world class sniper. The fact of the matter is that a firearm is barely more complicated to use than hammer. How many political entities try and mandate 20 hours of training, or the like, in order to be a “certified” hammer user? Statistics show that the majority of shootouts take place within a range of 10 feet. At that range one could almost reach with their firearm and touch their target with it.
While training should certainly be done, it shouldn’t and doesn’t need to be mandated by government. Most gun owners in America are honest, ultra law abiding and conscientious people who will train on their own and don’t need to be dictated too in any way. For those who aren’t, there are laws already in place to cover any criminal and/or negligent acts on their parts much the same as there are with automobiles. No system is perfect. There will always be a degree of crime and of carelessness involved. The lack of perfection should not however be used as an excuse to deny honest citizens of their most fundamental right of all, the right to self-defense.

100% Bullshit! Guns ownership should be held to the same standards as driving a car. Written test, proficiency test, licensing and INSURANCE! Hold gun.manufactuers to the standards of car manufacturers, every death means investigation and possible safety recall. Texas has the loosest gun control laws and school shootings occur. Owning guns did not stop the Uvalde shooter. Parents were willing to rush the shooter. They were beaten back and bear sprayed by heavily armed policemen. Your argument is just stupid. These shootings are acts of terrorism. Every contact of the shooters, live and online should be thoroughly investigated. We need to stomp out terrorism in America! Clue: They are mostly white males.

First, it preserves the existing system of training that results in an official concealed-carry license, in the form of a photo ID card. For the first time in Ohio history, though, the law also authorizes concealed carry without a permit. This means that any Ohioan 21 or older who is not prohibited by law from possessing a firearm can carry a concealed handgun. Many laws may prohibit you from possessing a firearm. Before hand cuffing them. So if I do ever get arrested (even though I don’t do anything) letting the cops know ahead of time will make them a little bit calmer when detaining, than a person who did not. Because then you don’t know where the weapons could be, and if the individual would go for it. However this all comes down to criminals, a law abiding citizen would have no problems with explaining things. While a criminal would. But this is just my reasoning, no hate plz.

I agree. Second amendment says own whatever you want and obviously other laws imply use it responsibly and do not infringe others. But I don't think anything precludes the govt. from asking for people to identify weapon status when being pulled over- as driving is considered a privledge and this seems like a safe and reasonable request. And asking to identify your weapon status does not infringe the right to own and carry it.
I disagree on the test. I mean as a human I agree, but as an American I just have to read amendment 2 to see that a test would infringe this right. I would however like a test for immigrants, a test for voting, and a bi-annual test for anyone over 55 who wants to drive. Plus voting results should be public information.
