CoastalDCC vs the new Legomanbiffo: Class 50

  • For quite sometime I have enjoyed the Hoover project CoastalDCC has made, mostly for its cold start sequence. However the rest of the project has somethings wrong with it, most noticeable, notching transitions and short thrash sequence with a noticable sound of rail joint clacker during a fade transition between thrash and idol. But during operation away from the confined space of Alesmead, these miner issues can't be heard clearly.
While I was out, I get a message asking me if I had seen DCkits latest video showcase of the new Legomanbiffo Class 50. So without hestation I quickly opened youtube and watched....... Damn, that sounds good.
Thinking too myself, Well, sounds good in a "00" model, I bet that will be something else in an "0" gauge and promptly visited DCkits website and ordered the 7mm scale version of the sound project. After a couple weeks spend away from the computer and unable to excess internet, I downloaded my order and spend the next 60mins installing it. Yes, this is a big file that almost filled the storage on the decoder.
Once the new file was done, I grabbed the phone to film what is sounded like with drivelock on and slowly moving the slider of the Lokprogammer softwate. Well, this is excellent but how far does the notching go and most important how much THRASH!!!!!!!!!!!
Without getting to excited with the sound, does it better CoastalDCC ?
In a nuttshell, it's a no brainer. Course it does. The only thing missing is the long cold startup the CoastalDCC has, but Biffo has done an amazing job with this current version and unless Jamie Goodman can do better, I can't see any other sound project to beat him at the time of uploading this video.

@@moss8448, I’ll try and get online and explain my situation here currently. I think I told Bjorn last week but will say more when I’m able to.

You can't make any comparison unless you test them both in the same location!

@@IronHorseRailways , the release of the Accurascale Hoover should be an interesting one for the sound version. The Biffo has a couple areas that just isn’t quite right, unless you really sit and listen (Really Hard), however you can’t notice it in a normal room environment with other noises around you. I hope Biffo does a much better Crompton project has the wind buffering his current one suffers from puts me off using it in a Depot environment, thats the only reason I’m forced to use the Jamie Goodman/Engineman that’s missing brake sounds because it’s a very old project (V4) on a V5XL which only Digitrains sells for O gauge, unlike the OO version supplied by Roads and Rails has more to it.
