Sounds good although I put an Emerson harness and Gibson 57 pickups in my Peter Green Vintage LP They are great but sorta heavy I just got an early 80s Luxor Tree of Life LP back after about ten years Being a bona fide strat cat those are the only two I've bonded with besides a 97 R9 that I let slip away
I now own 3 Vintage guitars, V100, V62 and VK300, they all are excellent guitars. I used to own a Les Paul Studio and couldn't get on with it so sold it, the V100 blows it clean out the water and gives a LP Standard a run for its money...
Really love the playing man. I hear you put a lot of feeling into it, not trying to show off but putting your soul into it. Good luck with the channel!
I played one for the first time yesterday, owned by a Sound guy who worked on films and had his own studio, it felt like a custom shop Gibson or a PRS, excellent quality, I was blown away, most guitar snobs are not great players, worth checking them out, great vid mate.( I am not knocking Gibsons as they are mostly wonderful, but if a Guitar sounds good and plays good then it is good, also, love your mellow playing mate.
I have a 2010 Vintage V100 Lemon Drop Greeny.. It is one the earlier V100s with the traditional neck heel and correct body curve around the pickup switch area...before they changed to the newer funky neck heel.. The build, playability and sound is amazing. The pickups in particular are really amazing, because Trevor Wilkinson had them voiced so well and close to the originals.. These are superb guitars that sound and play way above their price tags.
refreshing vid... in a sea of shredders and widdlers, yours was music to my ears as they say... just sold my 2nd epi les, great tools but i couldnt find that connection, i have the vintage strat .. and an icon tele.. great guitars for the home you tube enthusiast like most of us are... i just will not pay more than £350-400 for any guitar i dont think they are worth it.. i will keep eye out for one of these they do come up on marketplace occasionally, but seem to be holding at £180 if your lucky or upwards.. (mar 2022) .. and those 'green jeans'..... oooosh.!
Had my Vintage Tele for years. Great guitar. Great action, sound, intonation, and tuning stability. £100 used! I look out for their parts too. Prices and quality every time. Lining up one of these.....
Got myself a v100cs (cherry burst), was going for a squire jazzmaster at the time and the guy in the shop pointed me in the direction of the vintage stock and handed the LP copy and Im grateful as its amazing what you get for the price... had it over a year now and am gonna do some mods, pots arent too smooth , and Im thinking of going for anew sound re. Pick ups (stock are great tho'). If you get the chance to try any Vintage guitar go for it!
I had a top of the line epiphone 1960s Tribute plus which has CTS Pots, Grover Locking Tuners, Gibsons 57 Pickups all stock - I sold it to buy back my old Vintage V100. It just feels like home, the v100 sustains TWICE as long as the double priced epiphone,. Even without all the fancy hardware it works just fine and I just missed it so much I had to have it back. Yeah it might need a setup and play one before you buy it, but if you get a good one - KEEP IT The neck just feels better and whatever Trev has done with the neck angle or something it’s absolutely killer, beautiful guitars.
I acquired one of these, wasn't expecting much but to my surprise, the action is really low and the neck profile feels thinner than my tele and strat which results in it feeling super slick. It's a keeper, but will be flipping the neck magnet and swapping the caps.
Exceptionally Rich and dynamic Richie......another great presentation with the tools of the trade......and what it takes for the arsenal & the urge & moment.
Hey brother....good stuff. I’m not a Les Paul guy either. I’ve had a fair share of them pass through the door here. They just never seem to last that long, and away they go...and I don’t miss them, not a bit. For me the SG is where it’s at. Clapton, Zappa, Trucks, Iommi, Young, Townsend, Garcia. All the greats played them at one point, and probably my favorite work of most of them comes at the times when they played, the SG, if they don’t anymore. Slow creamy blues, jazz, heavy metal. It does it all. Love everything you’ve been doing. Kept the 339. I’ll put a bit of work into it. Just ordered a set of Lollar Imperials for one of the strats I have. Be good.....
Joe Mccleery good job on keeping the 339 !! I adore mine , a lot of tone in there !! Yeah I love the SG’s , a bit Like fenders Tele imo , super versatile ! Thanks for being here buddy 👊🏼
i bought a Harley benton SC 550 last week fantastic guitar sounds amazing must say this one you have here does sound real nice very organic whatever the price, i might check one out
Hi Richie, I recently picked up a v100 Icon that had the Wilkinsons switched out for Tesla Opus-1s which to my mind sounds almost as great as my LP with Gibson 57 pups. On the strength of that, I just added a Harley Benton SC-550 II with the Teslas. I bought the V100 for £150 with the intention of keeping then selling on for a bit of profit but it is as good as you demonstrate. Weighs an absolute ton but being a bass player I wonder what all the sissy fuss is from other guitar players whingeing on about it :D
I purchased this all solid wood copy of a D-100 spending around $1100.00 and I was so amazed by the quality and build. First off do not by the cheap laminated copies, spend the money for a all solid wood copies because these guitars are ones that they put more time and effort into also they are all real Spruce tops, real solid one piece Mahogany necks, real solid Rosewood back and sides, better tuners and a will come with a real bone nut and saddle also real Abalone inlays. I did the setup myself and the intonation and action is spot on. I also for reference own a real Martin HD-28 Deluxe VTS Custom Top as for tone comparison to the D-100 copy and I am sad to say it is not as good as that HD-28 but I only paid $1100.00 not $4400.00 also I will never have a chance in my life to own a real Martin D-100 or even see one up close. There was only 50 of the real D-100 ever made and now they are selling tor $140,000.00 plus and that is out of my reach totally. But I now have a copy that is like the real deal and i could not be happier. When people catch on these will go up in value because they are very desirable guitars.
Yhup! You have a keeper there man! I picked up a 2010 Vintage Cherry Burst Re-issue for $200.00 Canadian dollars about four years ago. Only mine doesn't have the curved in heel neck at the body. It is a straight in set neck like the a Les Pauls. It too has the dime size pots, but they work. And I don't fiddle around with them much anyhow. The guitar is stock with Gibson Bright Wires 10's strings and other than polishing and looking at it every day, it plays like an old friend. Heavy tho. I believe it is around 8 pounds in weight. But built like my old black 1960 Mk 2 Jaguar, Max! Rock on my friend. These guitars are an incredible find new or used. Tnx! ss Vancouver BC Canada
Beautiful playing 👍 I bought a cherry burst v100 from a guy on Gumtree for £110. It's the best money I've ever spent, you certainly get a lot of guitar for the price of a Squier bullet strat.
Bought one of a good friend , a black one, nothing to complain about, sounds great, peculiar though, it has got some hollow parts in the body, took a light torch, tried to look what is going on there, got the idea that the neck is set all through the body like Anno Galema, a rather well known luthier from the Netherland , used as a building principle. His guitarbody's were solid though. I think i'll keep it.
I'm currently on my fourth Vintage brand guitar. Currently on my second V100, i have a V400N acoustic and i also had a Vintage PGM which was a Peter green, Gary Moore signature edition guitar. Sadly i sold the PGM which i regret. Vintage guitars are solid, they use great components, stay in tune, sound and play extremely well. They are a Proper work horse.
Got one for Christmas in tobacco sunburst. Seems a fantastic instrument except the neck pickup was lifeless ! Returning it tomorrow... hopefully the new one will be in fully working order 🙏
They are decent players , i have a couple with different pickups (standard but each one came with different types ) the mick ronson is rock orientated , the iced tea is bluesy as you demonstrated so well
Beautiful guitars the Vintage brand! I have two Agiles, one with humbuckers and one with P90's. Epiphone and Gibson are not the only quality LesPaul's out there!
I picked one up for £150. Was really nice single-piece body that sings. Have since basically used it as a "pimp" platform. Done a refret and fingerboard level/radius, changed, the tuners and nut, replaced bridge and tailpiece, changed the loom to Jimmy Page setup and dropped in some HOT TruPAFs. Oh, and sanded off the neck lacquer. Don't think I'll need another LP style ever again, and everyone can't really go wrong with these! Great playing, as always.
@@FretJunkies I got to say, it is. But (and perhaps unsurprisingly) the best thing that I could have done, was to do the fret work, radius and lacquer - the "user interface". That bit of maintenance really made it a keeper: you get what you pay for, and the care/attention of the fingerboard is low at these low price points (and even at higher ones too!!!. But you knew that already :). Enjoy, and stay safe/healthy one and all.
Holy moly! What is that incredible amp with that incredible grill ? Great tones and playing. (Cool Guitar, btw. I have an old V99, made in Vietnam, that I got in 2000. It's with a bolt on neck, but hey, it's alright - though obviously not as good as these ones with their glued-in necks)
I've had the Vintage V100 for a couple years now, I've also got an LTD 256 and in every aspect, tone, quality and playability I prefer the LTD, V100 sounds great, LTD even greater IMHO.😮
Vintage do make some great Les Paul style guitars...But I think that their earlier models were a bit nicer because they had the correct style neck heel joint and the correct curve around the body in the pickup switch to the neck heel section. These current ones have that funky neck heel and strange body curve around the pickup switch area... That just adds a weirdness to the overall look and feel of the guitar.
I really want one. Always loved the les paul sound, style and their players but the epiphone ones I've had weren't comfortable to play, the quality wasn't impressive and the paint job wasn't as good as I thought in pictures. I can't afford a gibson and don't think I need to so this may be my next purchase. I have a supro tritone atm which is phenomenal but looking for humbucker goodness.
Check out the Artist LP59! An absolutely fantastic Les Paul copy for an unbelievable price and a more “authentic” Les Paul shape too! Intheblues does a great review, check it out! The only downside is availability, they go out of stock as soon as they become available so you may need to pre order and wait! Got mine last week, it’s awesome with the Artist pickups being based on the Seymour Duncan Jazz/JB set! Comes standard with real bone nut and locking tuners! Oh, and it has coil split/taps too!
These "Vintage" guitars are great, not just "great for the money" I mean really good instruments. They have quality Wilkinson hardware and pickups, which are sold as aftermarket parts and the build quality is usually very good. I read somewhere online that they´re made by World Musical Instruments in S.Korea, which also makes guitars for many known brands like PRS SE,Schecter, ESP/LTD,Dean, Agile etc. and has a great reputation when it comes to quality control but I couldn´t 100% confirm this.
I love that quote from Trevor Wilkinson about how anyone can build a great guitar for £2000, the challenge is building a great guitar for a fraction of that.
@@emmemmemm2360 Cool. This is the Iliad I got ua-cam.com/video/jWWoeVg_pLE/v-deo.html It's flawless. I was tired of buying guitars online that often felt disappointing. This time I thought to myself "why not spend a little more and get something GOOD for a change?" I don't regret it :)
Came for the review and ended up more interested in your playing. Very nice, easy going style you have. What kind of inspirations or references do you use for playing these chord shapes and runs? Cheers
That is one gorgeous guitar. I'm torn between the v6 strat and the v100 lp. I love both styles and have heard nothing but great reviews about both of them.
I might be the only person that wants this guitar because of the anime K-On!, I did around 5-10 minutes of digging around and found the exact guitar. I'm pretty sure it's this one, it looks exactly the same.
The guitar in the show was Gibson Les Paul standard 50s. It looks very similar. For example when i saw it for the first time i thought it was Epiphone classic. If you want exactly the same model it could be a problem because it's quite pricy but i have V100 and It's really good instrument.
Vintage gtr's usually come w/Grover tuners, the same one's Gibson uses, which is great since u usually have to change tuners on LP copies & knockoff gtr's
@@FretJunkies Thanks mate ! Im looking to get one, apparently the only available here locally are the AFD ones and distressed. I just dont like their distressed ones. and I really want a burst finish. appreciate it.
I've had the Vintage Peter Green LP for a few years I upgraded everything except the pickup selector It already had the Grover tuner upgrade from the factory It replaced my 97 R9 that I had to sell in 08 during a money crunch A couple lbs heavier than the R9 that cost 4K LoL but for 500 bucks very comparable except for the scarf joint I don't think I will ever spend that kind of money on a guitar again
Paul Cowart is that the lemon drop ?? Those things look amazing !! I have some new pots and bumble bee caps to drop in , the neck pickup is a little murky but actually very passable . Seriously great guitars for the money ?? 👊🏼
@@FretJunkies Yes the Lemon Drop Here's a little something I do that can help that I use the Ranger as my base tone so with the LP put the Diaz in the mid position Strat always lo position it seems Might have to adjust the amp a bit though Oh yeah Gibson 57s in mine as well Lollar Imps are good too but yeah the Wilkinson's aren't bad
Paul Cowart nice one ive not tried any pedals with the Les Paul yet !! Looks like we all have some extra time to explore 😊😊 I’m going to look at the pots Tmw hopefully ⚡️⚡️
I'm trying to choose between two guitars: Harley Benron SC-550 and Vintage V100. Do you really think that this guitar is the best in sound?Or are they roughly the same? Thanks!
VINTAGE!! The HD isn't even close. HD is a BUDGET guitar and meant to be. The Vintage are pro guitars available at stunning prices with excellent build quality.
What sort of neck profile is on these V100's, are they thin or thick necks? I'm interested in one as it sounds awesome, but prefer my guitars with thinner necks as opposed to baseball bat necks, so I'm just wondering before I order one.
Superb! Have a really old V100 black n gold custom copy that`s gotta great mojo! Thought about changing the pups but they sound great and have most of the "gold" worn off etc! Might fiddle with treble bleed or something. Not a lot of room in there though!!Great video.
I have a v100, taking into consideration I have two gibson Les pauls, the v100 is better in certain departments, would try rewiring to 50's style wiring before changing by adding anything, I ain't doing it to mine yet as both gibs are wired 50's style, v100's are the best bang for buck guitar you could want, better than prs se at over twice the price, my v100 plays like butter as they say and sounds fantastic especially in the rock genres .. buy one if u any got one ..
What do you think about the fretwork? I bought a vintage VS6 SG style back in 2012 i believe, and the fretwork was absolutely horrible...maybe they improved since then...Any thoughts on that?
Always tuning problems with the Gibbo....design fault at nut means they never stay in tune! Strat steady as a rock.... Saying that Peter Green and Gary Moore did kinda fine.....
Can someone give me some advice please because I have a vintage v100 and a boss katana mk11 50 watt but it's sound smithing like this and I search up videos on how to get good tones but it never sounds quite right
Hey Fellas, what do you think?? At the bumble Bee capacitors?? Change the pots?? Or does it sound Good enough??
Fret Junkies sounds great to me
Dude i might get crucified for this but to my ears these sound as good or better than Gibson’s that are 5 to 10 times the price
Have the specs on these guitars changed in the last ten years?
Not sure what those capacitors would make this guitar sound like - but I think this guitar is great as it is. Did you do any changes in the end?
Sounds good although I put an Emerson harness and Gibson 57 pickups in my Peter Green Vintage LP They are great but sorta heavy I just got an early 80s Luxor Tree of Life LP back after about ten years Being a bona fide strat cat those are the only two I've bonded with besides a 97 R9 that I let slip away

I bought my V100 Icon brand-new in 2008. It's still my go-to guitar.
you've really got the blues inside you!! Getting my v100 tomorrow! can't wait.
I remember when these guitars used to be £230 about 3 years back.... I really wish I had purchased the white version and slash afd version
Picked one up for £150 second hand last week , can't go wrong for that money
I traded for one recently, fantastic bit of kit love how it feels and plays. Great vid.
I own v100 in iced tea, love it, love the action, Wilkinson pickups are great and tuners faultless and heavy like a les Paul should be
I am loving the V100s so many great reviews and you have a great tone right there.....

I love that quote from Trevor Wilkinson about how anyone can build a great guitar for £2000, the challenge is building a great guitar for a fraction of that.
Got mine in 2010 and it's the best LP I've ever had. A while ago I bought a FGN Tele, and now I wonder if I should get me a FGN LP too. I mean, MIJ :P
What a coincidence. I just ordered a Vintage V100 and I'm planning on getting an FGN Iliad. How do you like the FGN?
Buy both. I did.
for V6 better go for the icon.. has better neck-profile than the Reissued
I've got one in tobacco sunburst, needs setting up properly though doesn't play great from factory.
Vintage gtr's usually come w/Grover tuners, the same one's Gibson uses, which is great since u usually have to change tuners on LP copies & knockoff gtr's
Super axe. Have one of those (2012) and i prefer it over 2 Gibson Trad i have. 4.8kg of a beast.
Beautiful guitar that... sooo tempted by it... or possibly the v6
Who cares what people think
that there box sounds great when you play it looks a gem too
Enjoy bro
Love your playing and tone was that just straight into an amp no pedals
Thank you !! Yes all straight into the AWEN amp ! ⚡️⚡️
Nice playing man
Awesome. May I know what year this particular model was produced ?
Hey there , I’m not actually sure ? I’ll look into that ⚡️⚡️
@@FretJunkies Thanks mate ! Im looking to get one, apparently the only available here locally are the AFD ones and distressed. I just dont like their distressed ones. and I really want a burst finish. appreciate it.
What is that beautiful amp you are playing through? Super sounds
Hi Yvan!! That is the AWEN amp I have been working on remotely with a good friend of mine from the states !! Killer TONES ❤️
@@FretJunkies Indeed super tones. Are these anywere for sale? Can't find anything about them.
We have no production models ~ other than this one ! We are looking to get a few out in the future ⚡️⚡️
@@FretJunkies Ok please keep me posted. Grtz
I heard Carlos Santana...sounds good to me..!!
@@FretJunkies Stay safe my friend
You made it sound amazing.....great tone. What amp are you using ?
Hi Don, This is a Heavily Modded Circuit that we will be Releasing in the near Future .
The AWEN Amp.
Sounds awesome...would leave as is !!!🙂
It sounds absolutely on the button , sure you havnt changed the pickups ,
Hahahah !! Noooooo
If you get a chance could you do a demo of the Harley benton 550 Amber Paradise
Cheers that be great
Hey amazing video I have the v100 afd, what's your amp ?
What amp is that? It looks awesome 😎
Awen prototype
No need to modify this one, IMO!
I'm trying to choose between two guitars: Harley Benron SC-550 and Vintage V100. Do you really think that this guitar is the best in sound?Or are they roughly the same? Thanks!
id go vintage all day long
VINTAGE!! The HD isn't even close. HD is a BUDGET guitar and meant to be. The Vintage are pro guitars available at stunning prices with excellent build quality.
@bennyh4950 completely right !!!
@@bennyh4950 It's too late! More than 3 years have passed since my question...
What sort of neck profile is on these V100's, are they thin or thick necks? I'm interested in one as it sounds awesome, but prefer my guitars with thinner necks as opposed to baseball bat necks, so I'm just wondering before I order one.
Hello what year is this one?
must say
ive never seen an amp like that one though
Is it just me or does Richie sound like Joe Calzaghe?....great video, thanks 🙏
I was Born and bred a few miles away from Joe !! ⚡️⚡️
Fret Junkies some talent coming out of that area 😉👍
Would that amplifier happen to be a Carlsboro Stingray ??
Superb! Have a really old V100 black n gold custom copy that`s gotta great mojo! Thought about changing the pups but they sound great and have most of the "gold" worn off etc! Might fiddle with treble bleed or something. Not a lot of room in there though!!Great video.
I wouldn't touch a thing long as it plays good! Great playing 👍
hello pleas can you tell me about the frets ? how does it feel ,i mean
are strong resistant m or soft blunt quickly? thank you!
Yo I've got one aswell but I can't for the life of me get these tones I'm not sure if it's because the pickups are old and rusty or I'm an idiot
What do you think about the fretwork? I bought a vintage VS6 SG style back in 2012 i believe, and the fretwork was absolutely horrible...maybe they improved since then...Any thoughts on that?
Hi Samuel , fretwork on this one is solid ! I’m not sure if I lucked out but it’s a VERY good guitar for any money paid ⚡️⚡️
That bridge isnt factory v100 thats for sure.
The original has been replaced.
How do I get one in the US?
Hey there , im fairly certain they ship worldwide.
Bests,
Richie.
Which brand is this guitar exactly? Where can you pick it up in UK? How much? Thx.
Vintage is a brand by JHS (John Hornby skewes) in the UK the nodel is the V100 they should have dealers on the JHS website.
Always tuning problems with the Gibbo....design fault at nut means they never stay in tune! Strat steady as a rock....
Saying that Peter Green and Gary Moore did kinda fine.....
Add to that Clapton, Paul Kossoff and Jimmy Paige, to name but a few legends!
stock pickup ?
All stock 👍🏼
Have you ever heard of another key than E?
I_stole_a_bike hahah !! Usually it’s E flat !
I thought I’d go crazy and step it up !!
Thanks for taking note .
@@FretJunkies Try C# minor xD
Can someone give me some advice please because I have a vintage v100 and a boss katana mk11 50 watt but it's sound smithing like this and I search up videos on how to get good tones but it never sounds quite right
Anyone know if it’s a 50s or 60s neck?
