VERY NICE SUSTAIN AT 15-47 WOW !!
Is this real¿!??
I slowly decreased the volume of my speakers to make it sustain less than gibsons I saw before.
@@ernieflanaganstingraybassm1463 its feedback mixed with the sustain
Dig the passion you bring with your videos bro. I am definitely interested in the Vintage Lemon Drop. Your video really sold me on the idea of purchasing one. Cheers and keep rockin.
Great video! I own 4 Vintage brand guitars including two V100s. My Lemon Drop is the "distressed" version and it's a beast. The only mod I recommend on these guitars that will take them from a really good guitar to an outstanding one is to buy high-quality CTS pots and replace all the tone and volume pots. I think the cheap pots were a natural way to save money in the manufacturing process. Ironically the soldering and routing of the wires were very professionally done. Once I did this the tone completely opened up in the most organic way. No need to upgrade the pickups, they're fantastic for rock, blues etc. right out of the box. Wilkinson got that right the first time.
Yep. Exactly the same experience. I got a custom made 50s style wiring and ditched the out of phase wiring. Too much pissing around with the volume pots trying to get a balance. Mine is a really early one in the Icon series. Although the neck is thinner than the guitar it is supposed to be modelled on, it is quick. With the volume pushed on a good valve amp it does what it says on the tin.
Yeah I picked up one of those PG models....very nice..a little heavy but sounds good I put some Classic 57s in mine but still might go with some Lollar A2 low winds maybe But hey might try the pot and caps first and see if it does the trick I actually reversed the PG modd back to stock LP wiring And for chuckles I ordered one of those Oscar Shmidt Gold Tops and was going to decide which one I want to invest time and money in The 1st one they sent me had some issues,I had to jack the bridge up all the way and it still fretted out at the 1st fret so sent it back for a replacement Vintage has a one piece neck where as the OS has a 2 piece and thats a pretty big deal for LP type guitars Im thinking the Vintage will probably win out but will see and will keep you guys posted..
Hey wanted to ask what type of pots does this use..the long shaft or short shaft...was going to get an Emerson wiring kit but not sure if long or short Thanks
Vintage won out.......so long shaft or short shaft for the pots in the Vintage ?
I did that with my V100, replaced the capacitors too with mojotone paper in oil caps and the combination of the new pots and caps REALLY opened up the guitar. Didn’t replace the hardware on mine, it’s all quality stuff
you're one of a kind man! keep up the good work. BTW, good review!
BEST REVIEW OF THIS BEAUTIFUL INSTRUMENT ON UA-cam!!!
GREAT WORK BRO!
This is an extremely good review with excellent photography, well done Cory!!
+Tony smith thank you!
Great video Cory, I was glad to hear you mention the deeper (woman) tones that you get from this guitar. So to combat against all the rolling of tone & volume pots just to get to tone you want, I put 2 orange drop capacitors into my guitar. It's just brightens the tone up just enough to make it sound so sweet.
great review! this is definitely one on my 'to try' list :)
Good review. This is my next guitar. Thanks.
wilko you will like i am sure
Have one myself and it is indeed a fine guitar for the price, plays as well as my 2005 Gibson Standard...the only issue I had was my tuners were rubbish, very slack with a lot of play so, no problem, just changed them out for a set of Klusons
Paul Smith klusons suck
Yeahh🤘
when in the middle possession to take it out of phase turn one of the volume knobs down a touch doesn't matter what one it takes it out of phase
Great stuff Cory, hope you're enjoying doing this because I'd like you to keep on doing it :)
ArielsSmartyPants yes i am enjoying it! comments like yours helps of course too! glad you like it!
I have a Vintage VS6. I wouldn't say the finish is great but on the plus side it's very resonant, the pickups really nail that SG sound, also the neck profile is sooo comfortable. The guitarist in my last band has a V100 (not the Greeny) which he loves and apart from one tuner that buzzes a bit it's great.
Great guitar man. Never been convinced by the out-of-phase sound though. Cheers Cory.
I have this guitar and you have shown me some wonderful new sounds it can get! I run it with a tweed blues jr and a couple of pedals. Love your tones!
+Stephen Whiting cool! and thanks ! its a good guitar! 😊
Having a coffee while the note sustains. 😂 Should have had some lunch. 😂
LOL
The out of phase middle position needs to be tweaked to get the sound is emulating. I find the "honk" with the bridge volume on around 8 and the neck volume on 9, both tone controls full up. If you have the volume controls equal the tone is very thin sounding. You have to find the sweet spot but once you do you will know.
So apart from having the neck pickup turned around, it's also wired for out of phase. Interesting. Those two things have different effects.
Great review, thank you very much, just purchased the guitar today.
How is it?
Man! That sounds GOOD!
Amazing review should be getting this in a week 🤘🏻👍🏻
I've got it now and it's even more amazing than I thought
The bridge and tailpiece are made by a korean company that also makes the wilkinson stuff (Sung-il)
I had one, and it had a bad finish where the binding meets the neck. And I have seen the same finish problem on a new one in the guitar shop. Other than that, it sounds great, confortable to play, a great guitar.
Great video, bro !
Had a chance to get one a couple weeks ago but got a Dean Hardtail instead and made a real deal with it. Maybe you could try that one some day ?
Cory nice guitar and i love your new 1x12 cabinet !!! have a nice weekend my friend !!
+Ernest Flanagan thanks! you too!
I have the pgm model,i love the neck shape ,its so comfortable! its a great guitar.
heya, could i kindly ask whats the neck profile like? any dimensions (e.g. 1st fret, 12th fret) would be greatly appreciated. thanks!
Great review , thank you .
I’m hesitating between this vintage PGM or a Tokai Alc60 (Chinese Tokai not mij) which would you recommend in terms of build construction and overall quality ?
Great review
HEllo! Thanks a lot for your review. I have a question, How is the fret's edges (borders) please? Is it smooth or does it itch? (When you slide your hand)
I played a used one of these at Andertons 2 years back, the relic's version. It felt amazing and sounded even better though the blues cube I was using. It was up for 200 and I kick myself for not buying it. I compared it to a Epi LP custom and a Chapman ML2 classic and the lemon drop blew them out of the water. Really great guitar for the money.
Excellent review!!!👍👍👍👍
Cory vintage are the best guitars on the market in my opinion, really stand up there with any Gibson guitar.
Vernon Robinson I'd say Epiphone tbh. Gibson guitars use better timbers but this is down to taste I suppose. But yeah vintage guitars are great and are better than Epiphone
Vernon Robinson ---I think I agree, I was surprised with mine, love it!!!!
@@Steve-nq8jc not anymore brother, Epiphone have notched it up 👍
Thanks Cory
Great review sir! I am thinking of buying one of these. Danke
+rumglas gern geschehen!
heya, could i kindly ask whats the neck profile like? any dimensions (e.g. 1st fret, 12th fret) would be greatly appreciated. thanks!
I'm planning to buy a new guitar. But I cant decide between Epiphone Les Paul Standard PRO and a Vintage V100. I've heard about the perfect Probuckers that are built-in in the epiphone and about the all in all warm, typical Gibson sound. Especially keen on the coil splitting feature that lacks on the Vintage. I think that the Epiphone is a allround-talent. So do you guys have any experience with those two guitars and could give me some feedback? Thanks! ;)
I had the latest version Epi Les Paul Standard PRO with Probuckers and the Vintage. I sold the Epi and kept the Vintage. The Epi was OK but I'm not the biggest fan of coil splits so that wasn't a consideration for me, but I really didn't like the D shape neck. And of course it didn't have the out of phase sound of the Lemon Drop which I absolutely love.
i have a epiphone les paul 56pro it's a fantastic guitar p90pro pickups fat neck even though it's a good instrument I'm gutting everything apart from the pickups and the tailpiece.
Hello Cory ! I have a Vintage v6 fillmore (like hendrix fender series) , you bought a vintage v6 blue color ,i'm impatient to see the test of this guitar ,to compare with mine ,the fillmore maybe sound different because the staggered plot are inversed on this guitar ,and the bridge pickup the tilt are inversed the heavy string are very close at the bride and at the thin string very far at the bridge and reverse headstock too ,my guitar have very wild sound for a strat guitar clone for sure ,if you test this one ,you loved it ! (sorry for my bad english ,i'm french and i learned it for long time ago... lol ) .
This is the best review of this guitar I've seen. I am really tempted, despite the neck heel. I'm also thinking it wouldn't be hard to unreverse the neck pickup if that sound was too much after a while. Did it stay in tune for you? Thanks!
no need to reverse it just turn one of the volume pots down a squigee and it goes back to normal try it
Hi Cory,
Nice reviews as always.
Where do you buy online the vintage guitars in Germany? I am from México but want one and one possibility is to send it to a friend in Frankfurt and later travel on vacations to there and pick the guitar. Thanks!
Dear Cory greetings from Florence, Italy. Since I own a Vintage V100 Reissued and a Lemon Drop in the specs of the two pickups' guitars I have noted the name of wilkinson WVC for the lemon drop and MWVC for the Reissued. As far as You may know are these different pickups? Are the WVC Alnico V and the MWVC Ceramic? In the Web there are lots of confusion about... Thanx a lot in advance for the help you can give us. My really best
+Alessandro Giangio the confusion is real.. for me too! and thomann specs lists are often faulty too. i cant really say, but they should be the same. i had both guitars.. the lemon drop in 2015.and i would say they sound the same. i cannot believe that they used ceramic on any of them.. wouldn't sound that bluesy i guess (?)
so imo same pickups
Thanx a lot Cory. I have found this solution by a spanish blogger: "Wilkinson Humbuckers.
Wilkinson PAF modelo WVC made in Korea.
If you want me to translate it no problem (My parents are Mexican...)
Superb guitar, imagine what it would be like if you coil split it. Thanks Cory 👍
Love your videos🙂👍
Have you done a Vintage PGM vs Harley Benton SC450 video? If not that would be good🙂👍
8.40 is the true colour , lights can make this colour look animated
Hi,love your reviews, and I have to say your English is excellent👍🙂👍
Great review as always Cory! I love your style. Very nice looking and sounding guitar. I'll have to look one of these up. Just can't stand that headstock shape (like the HB SC's crewcut look). If they could fix that this would be perfect. Beautiful photos of that killer top!
It is a far better headstock than the Epiphone Les Paul's, it could easily be made to look more like the Gibson open book by sanding down a couple of the wave tops.
I agree. I just hate it that they couldn't just get the headstock shape "right" from the beginning. It'll grow on me. Especially for the price vs value comparison. This is a great looking and sounding guitar.
There's a reason why they didn't get the headstock quite right and that the horn is a lot sharper and that the access to the neck at the high end near the neck pickup is different (its actually an improvement and more ergonomically sound) and the arch near the toggle switch is more arched. This is all done on purpose. JHS Vintage did this to try and protect themselves from being sued by Gibson because they can use these changes to prove it isn't a straight counterfeit in court. That didn't stop Gibson however but they lost the first part of the court case in the UK earlier this year that it was a straight counterfeit. The second part of the case is still ongoing that JHS V100 guitar design has infringed the copyright of the Les Paul design.
Hi Cory,
Mach weiter so, Digga!
Luv Ya Vids :)
Cory very cool having a swig of coffee during your long note. I was looking at Harley Benton guitars but I am very interested in this guitar. I don't know if you mentioned but Vintage guitars are made in the UK👍 The the neck may also be made out of a single peice of wood. I was looking at their guitars online but the only downside is that they have gone down the whole relic look on a number of their guitars. I like a new guitar to look new.
Great guitar.! Well done great wall.!!
Does the guitar feel the same as the other V100 models? Black-White-AFD ones?
Weight, neck, sustain ?
I am gettin this or the afd but its hard to pick
almost perfect for me. the arm is too thin. beautiful color finish. Finally i got the V100 TSB, which the color is very similar.
its a beatiful guitar and a nice one!! i keep saying i really envy you, beacuse you have the oportunity to play some amazing guitars!! the bad thing is that you have to send them back!!! lol
How are these compared to a Harley Benton quality wise? I think they are about double the price of a HB but curious about the quality
I keep hearing they're basically the same in quality but the Vintage has better pick ups.
Hi Cory, excelent review as always. Could you review the Cort CR 250? It´s a Les Paul with the same price range that this one, nice guitar in my opinion, but I would like to know your opinion.
Thanks, keep going.
Antonio Alejandro Hernández Pérez will try to get my hands on one. but will not happen soon i guess
Got the impression the lemon drop was tuned for blues , always vheck the pickups numbers in vintage guitars , theres a few , the mick ronson is an all out rock guitar , the hot black pickups suit it ,
this guitar really sings well!
These are great guitars stock, BUT you can transform them and turn them into Gibson slayers by simply replacing the stock pots and wiring with an upgraded set. I got an 'Oddtones' Gibson set, CTS Pots, Sprague Capacitor, braided wiring and it sounds like a different guitar, the Wilkinson Pickups really sing. I also have a Gibson Les Paul Studio with Burstbucker Pro pickups and the Vintage absolutely kills it. The only advantage the Gibson has is that it is light weight due to the modern weight relief on the Studio models.
That middle position sounds right for some Brian May style riffs.
i found the vintage guitar very difficult to like. it started falling apart withing a few months, the bridge and toggle switch were the first to go.
Really good guitar ! While watching and hearing it, I'm wondering if it's still woth buying a Gibson nowadays... Thanks for the demo !
Gibson are not worth the money especially with the single piece of wood neck design which breaks so easily. Much better, like these guitars, to have a scarfe joint, its a cheaper method (allows the use of 2 pieces of wood instead of one)and much stronger.
Got GAS for an LP style guitar right now, the big G is and always has and will be out of range for a good long while. I've had Harley Bentons in the past and had good experiences with them but none of them caught my eye, same as Epiphone but this one has. I had the distressed lemon drop years ago and it was a monster, sold it last year and regretted it as soon as the guy drove away. I think this might just scratch the itch, though I'd replace the hardware with aged nickel
Good one, Cory! Is this guitar equivalent to the HB SC550?
650Thunderbird Vintage makes their 'versions' heavier (4,3 kg here), neck heel is different too.. both makes them feel different. otherwise they are pretty close in every term
My SC550 is over 4kg (not sure how much over, no digital scales here), despite having weight relief.
Got one today, Sounds, plays and looks amazing
Hi there. Good for you! Does it fit for John Sykes sound?
@@trilogyopus it's good for almost all hard rock/Metal
One year later, are you satisfied? 😁 What are the pros and cons? I am considering to buy one....seems like a best wannabe gibson😎
Cheers🍻
@@myguitarcloud5987 its a seriously good guitar, i play mine everyday and it hasnt let me down, i would highly reccomend it 👍
@@myguitarcloud5987 the only problem i have with it is the g string and holding tune, but thats to be expected with les paul styled guitars
The sustain on that thing is absolutely mad
For the price its not a bad guitar at all....I find the neck profile a bit small /shallow for my taste though.
Cory you are great🙂👍
Is there one that doesn't come with that out of phase tone in the middle?
Mr. Glabalabadubeestu The Mexican Cyclops I think there is also an AFD version with normal oriented pickups
p.s your recording and practice room looks really good and Vintage makes great guitars !! And Cory is the guitar lighter than a LP ???
+Ernest Flanagan you mean lightwr then a gibson? they vary a lot. 4.3kg is heavy nowadays... the old gibson were heavy like that.. no weight relief
You are very welcome my friend !!!
Where is this guitar made?
Converted me from Strats to single cuts.
They are good guitars for the price .
Maybe wished i'd dip my toe in first and maybe would of gone for a PRS Bernie Marsden..
It is strange but cool to see almost my setup gear been playing :-D I play with Vintage Lemon Drop, Dozer Cap and Egnater too.
About the sound I would say exactly everything you said.
My Vintage is the Icon series, distressed, just have two big differences from that in the vídeo: tunners and holes. :-D I think the tunners from the Icon Series are better it fits better aesthetically. The holes is for turn the guitar "exactly" like the Mr Green and Mr Moore... Look for the video at SNAMM by Premier Guitar channel about the guitar.
Important tip: when using the out-of-phase (both pickups) a important detail is to lower one of the volume knobs to decrease the effect to the right point and find the sweet spot of the out of phase.
ua-cam.com/video/muomWiUrwx0/v-deo.html
how much this guitar cost? and where i can find one
Depends on where u live
Around 400$ in Europe but idk in USA or other countries
15:55 I am now deaf. Thanks man. In all seriousness these one is fantastic. The only two things that bug me are the vomit green tuners and the slight variation in body shape. But those extraordinarily minor. Too bad I'm too poor to afford even this inexpensive but otherwise flawless guitar.
I just got a bill from you loving Thomann for $22.40usd at the post office for shipping after I waited 4 weeks and paid in full ahead of time. What kind of company are you backing?
Ronald Clark you should complain to them. I'm guessing you mean Thomann? I find their customer service to be really good (considering they are Europe's biggest box-shifter). Did they not put enough postage on it or is it a US Customs charge?
That sounds like customs.
I have also a peter green Vintage guitar aging lemondrop model. Good guitar.
Mike, compared to guitars under €1000 this is prossibly the best there is. Far better than Epiphone and as good as €1000 Gibsons (maybe even better). I would suggest that it is even better than Tokai's. It has a real LP weight 9 lbs/4,2 klilos.
You maybe right about it, i never play a Gibsons or Epiphone similar guitar. I bought it long ago around 2009/2010 because the company go for online sales and all the showroom models they sell them very cheat. I pay around €200 for the Lemon Drop (aging type) guitar. Btw is one of the guitar that i still play almost on daily base. It sound so lovely and especially with tube amp. Thanks for the very good review.
Cool guitar, PS: i have the same Hendrix picture :)
Lords Ulrich I had a t shirt with that on
This vs HB SC550 if you had to choose one.
Me I'd like to know too!
This guitar is much better than the Harley Benton.
Harley Benton is much better than the Vintage.
The quality is pretty much the same, guitars sound-wise are bit too different to make a direct comparison, the biggest difference is the price.
The Vintage is more expensive because its better finished and has better pickups, but it also plays better. The out of phase sound of the Vintage isn't to everyone's taste, I agree.
No, it's more expensive because ther are more peple who you have to play for. Harley Bentons are directly sold by Thomann, Vintages have to be sold to music stores before they reach the customers. There's a middleman and more traveling cost that have to be covered.
Vintage can't have better pickups because both are Wilkinsons. Actually, HB is moving on from Wilkinson pickups due to QC issues. I doubt that Vintage plays better, because HB has better fret access. Finish is pretty much the same, mahogany body with maple top and maple veneer.
pgm stands for peter green mod
Vintage always make quality guitars.
Trev Wilkinson is a genius
du bist deutsch nh?
The only bad thing u would replace is the pots
The middle sound is not great to my ears. Would get lost in a live mix.
Incredible value for money. I sold one of these a while ago and regret it!
If you are a fan of Peter Green, which I am, the out of phase sound is essential and this Vintage recreates it very well, but you do have to juggle the tone and volume controls for the optimum sweet spot. I use it all the time.
Not impressed with those Wilkinson Humbuckers (from thise video and also my own guitar!) regarding high gain sounds. I actually think it sounds really horrible. Clean and overdrive sound though is CREAMY! awesome.
I put some Classic 57s in mine...made a big difference..still might go with better pups...had the 57s laying around
Stop swaying, dude. I’m getting seasick.
No kidding...just threw up overboard...
@@bddmhopp5 that's the I have to pee dance

Würdest Du mir den Gefallen tun und Dich bei the näxt video einfach mal hinsetzen, would you please? Ansonsten, prima Deine lemon drop-Vorstellung!
18:11 sound like brian may.
pulido mi yeah, mays guitar works with out of phase etc too i think.

The guitars are chambered. that gives a different feeling.
What are u talking? I m talking vintage
I dont think this is chambered ..
This guy talks like Arnold
Nice video bro but stop moving while you talk
funny english.
Latino english, right ?
indeed Joe B. is not very original.
