Being a Kathmandu resident, I would like to say a few things. 1. 42 international airlines operate here but only 7 parking stands, so delay is very much common. 2. The domestic apron is much crowded with aircrafts than you think. 3. International airlines can only land from Runway 02. If you have to add something more, go ahead. 😁

I am from Kathmandu and the Airport (actual name: Tribhuvan International Airport) is very Old. Due to unmanaged urbanization there is no place for airport expansion. Also since its a valley, glideslope is higher. 6:16 There is a golf course and the land structure is not flat. Due to negative issues the Airport is Renovated recently and airport capacity is widened.
My father been there like between 2010 and 2015 and he said this airport is really bad. He also described the check-in area of this airport looked like a check-in area of the bus station. He said this was very difficult to find the places where he must go to get to the plane he’s going on

Kathmamdu Airport is upgrading. They increased the runway up to 3350 meter but the big concern is about the terminal infrastructure. Even they made new departure hall. Things are improving and can be good airport in future.
yea when I went there back in December the arrival hall was SO MODERN AND NEW!! like I was amazed especially since it was my first time since 3.5 years
When I lived in India, I went to Kathmandu airport on indigo. It was nice but the airport doesn’t allow food after security, my family and I found that out the rough way. My mom insisted we wait till after security to get food and water. There was a communal water cup and no food at all, it was midnight and we hadn’t eaten all day, I told my mom about the sign but she was a frequent flyer and she had never experienced that. We didn’t have chairs and our legs failed so we sat on the uncleaned floor, the entry portion was great but leaving was horrible, the domestic terminal was SO SO MUCH BETTER, surprisingly.

The Turkish airlines plane was not skitted off the runway, actually the crew landed on the grass because of the fog . Us Bangla q400 crashed because of pilots misunderstanding,not because of airport. You can also see the video on UA-cam. Btw ,yes it's a very dangerous airport .

LOL, Good video. I was waiting for this video. Me personally have also traveled from this airport in international flight. The experience in that airport was decent but during this quarantine there have been a lot of renovation to kathmandu airport and if I'm correct there are 2 new international airport which is at its last stage of construction and there are plans and discussion to make a new huge airport in Nepal and I believe an A380 can land and takeoff but this project is halted because they have to cut thousands of trees which is really bad for environment.
Well as a Nepali, I hate to break it to you after having 2 new int'l airports except the old one, there haven't been any flights on the two of them cause India hasn't given permission to use the int'l air route to Nepal..

Also u did not mention the dangerous airport approach to Kathmandu .As u have to descend and accend frequently is the approach as there are lot of hills surrounding airports . Also not in Kathmandu but in Pokhara and Bhairawa international airport construction is taking place .also with in 1 year bhairawa airport (Gautam Buddha international airport) is going to be launched .in addition to it Nepal has planned a development project of nijgat airport which if made would be the third largest airport of ASIA .Also the availability of trivuvan international airport made in such a place is piece of very good engineering.

You should do reagon national airport in Washington DC, I live near it, it’s got one of the only visual approaches for a large scale airport in the US. And it’s really scenic flying over the river. The runway is only like 7000ft long and it operates 757s and A321s everyday.
cathay pacific, thai airways, malaysia airlines, singapore airlines, korean air and china eastern have operated 777s to Kathmandu air china operated the 747s to here and many more history remains in Katmandu aswell
TIA was built when the city wasn't congested, it was just farm land all around. Also the entire valley is surrounded by mountains so honestly the options are limited. But the terminal, facilities and people are teRRible that's when you're inside once you step out to collect ur bags it gets even better, it's a free for all. The domestic terminal in another part of the airport well yeah, they have a metal detector everyone chooses to walk around it, one word Chaos.
The runway in XPlane is not updated yet because Kathmandu Airport just got upgraded to 3500 metres runway and Qatar B787-8 and Asiana Airlines A350-9 (which just landed yesterday) started direct flights.
Even like The worst Crashes that happened at Kathmandu just happened in under 2 months,the first crash was of a Thai Airways Airbus A300 then a month later a PIA A300.
I've Been To This Airport Twice. My Mom Is A Doctor And Her Student's Who Worked In Ragib Rabeya Hospital Where On A Us Bangla Flight To Kathmandu Airport And Their Plane Crashed And They All Died. My Mom Almost Created A Ocean Of Tears By Crying. I Once Got Lost In This Airport Thinking My Parents Where Inside But Guess What? They Were Taking Photos With The Plane. It Was A Spicejet Q400. Luckily They Found Me. Our Flight Was From Dhaka. It Was Way Back In 2017 We Were Just Going On A Winter Vacation.
