I was a young ballet sudent when the Turning Point came out. I was still young so I didn't really know who Misha was. My mom was a former principal ballerina so when I was soon introduced who this magical dancer was. When I finally saw the movie all in the dancing world knew who he was and how he changed ballet, especially for male dancers in the west. Every ballerina would have loved to dance with Misha as a partner. He is a remarkable man, as well as one of the greatest male dancers of his generation.❤❤❤❤

I was a ballet dancer in my country when this movie came out…Many of my dance company fellow dancers we went together to the movie theatre in opening day. Misha is still today the greatest ❤

I was a ballerina when The Turning Pointe came out. It was great to have a ballet movie with such incredible dancers, and our Misha in it. Of course, White Nights was fabulous. Both stories that have real life significance, with real art and athleticism. Baryshnikov also speaks several languages fluently. He will always be the best in my book. His turns are so tight and controlled. He was born to dance. He did make it look effortless. It's far from effortless. It's grueling everyday, but I sure do miss it.

I was born in the late 70’s and would watch The Turning Point on repeat. Fast forward many years later and I wound up marrying the love of my life from Finland who looks like Mikhaïl Baryshnikov 😂 Crazy!

One of my Top 10 favorite movies-my Grandma introduced me to it, as a child. This movie does not get nearly the attention it deserves either back in the day in 1977 or in the modern day, today. Stellar performances by all in every aspect & i loved that it was an on-location shoot in NYC which lended more authenticity to the lives in the story. (So sick of that CGI cr@p they use today, you never know whom or what is really present or not.) It was so magical to see a Real entire Audience applauding Real Ballet Dancers. Transported. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Oh my!**😂🎉I have only become physically obsessed with ballet for one decade, preferring chakra awakenment without shoes through all my life. After being immersed for these ten uears, I found out that when I was one year old my dad worked as the second assistant director on "The Turning Point!". What a life changer, indeed! Is Misha not the material world manifestation of Angel Michael, Seraph Uriel?! And this story, OMG, the sweet truth of the utterly infallible joy, the sheer seratonin rush ceaseless of the prima ballerina* even in the face of betrayal, she is filled with the completely real non chalance which will allow no genuine heartbreak to enter into. 😂😊🎉🎉🎉🎉

I think this was a most thorough review of The Turning Point…excellent research and opinions! I loved this movie…it was on Cinemax through Prime Video, but I tried playing it multiple times and it only produced an error message, so I cancelled Cinemax as that was the reason I subscribed in the first place!

Not diminishing the merits and the genius of Michel Barishnikov and his turnings as Basil, I think it is absolutely comparable to Tetsuya Kumakawa - in the role of Basil among all the other classical roles he danced. Another example with Kumakawa is Le Corsaire.

He was riveting and you couldn’t take your eyes off of him until Gelsey Kirkland was on stage with him. She was supposed to be in the movie but starved herself to get out of it. With her in it the movie would have made more sense. Leslie Brown was decent at best.

B-plays a Soviet defector convincingly as he was a Soviet defector. He also plays a player convincingly. Two acting parts he may not have had to tediously work hard to depict--hm (lol)???!!! Just kidding, ha ha, he's undoubtedly not a player but a defector playing a player defector.

We are talking a Major disappointment with your Part 1. It's very nice The Turning Point is one of your favorite movies- and your video's main purpose seems to be to get others unfamiliar with The Turning Point to watch it. Laudable, but that's NOT how this 14 minute segment was introduced- with describing Baryshnikov's superb "charisma" onscreen and that the upcoming 14 minutes would examine his skills as a dramatic actor when Not dancing. This did not materialize. Having seen the film when it first opened at 11 years old, and Many times since. So I learned nothing from your video, and I had hopes of learning what you had promised- as I can find zero out there on video or UA-cam analyzing his dramatic performance in The Turning Point...other than a write-off "he was playing a Soviet Defector which was himself" You don't get nominated for a best-supporting Oscar for that
