  • Hung out with a friend and fellow recovery pilot Drew from Eagle Eye Aerial Services for one of his recoveries. He made short work of finding this buck.
    Hope you enjoy.

    Wow. That was refreshing. Just honest drone work to help out outdoorsman. Not at all like those infomercials that @infomercialmike puts out at Drone Deer Recovery. Keep up the good work.

      I’m finding there were a lot of people doing this before Mike and DDR but he definitely made it popular and is great at marketing whether you like his methods or not. Personally I started a deer recovery drone pilot map in Alabama…it’s a free and shareable resource for connecting pilot and customer and I hope to expand it soon.

      For the overlay, I’ll need to make a separate video. It’s in the settings and I’m not at my controller or I’d walk you through it.

    Nice video. From videos that I have watched, the DJI 3T is just as good as the30T, not sure the extra expense is worth it.

      Thank you…glad you enjoyed it. The M30T is slight better in almost every single area…but there isn’t a single M30T feature that I can’t live without. Thermal performance is 100% equal. After the price drop the M30T is a much better deal but it’s not necessary for this usage. The one feature the M30T has that may be the difference between getting the job done or not is the weather/IP rating….not only for working in the rain but the peace of mind it adds when there’s potential for rain(on a dark night) and the drone may experience it before you do at your location. And pilots in regions of the world with normally poor or rainy weather might require that M30T feature. But for me, the Mavic 3T works perfectly well.

      @@STRThermalRight on the money! I have m30t but it’s used for what it’s designed for doing commercial Powerline work. Would have just bought m3t if I was just doing wildlife recovery as it’s a workhorse.

    At the 3:34 mark that big 55" tv is displaying, it looks like, a full 16:9 aspect ratio. Today, I hooked up my controller to a 24" monitor.....I could only get a 4:3 ratio view of the duplicated screen. How did Drew do that?

    I have a question do you ever lose satellites with the light attached? I have the CZI GL spotlight and lose satellites occasionally and it goes in atty (attitude) mode.

    • @STRThermal
      @STRThermal  7 місяців тому

      Hey Lee. The only experience I have where satellites might have been an issue(odd flight behavior right after lift off) were not light related. And I’ve never gotten ATTI mode in flight. Maybe it takes longer to lock onto satellites but I find that more terrain and tree cover dependent than anything. Usually once I have 12 satellites and the “Home Point” message I don’t have any issue with the light or without. I wonder if your light is putting off some bad interference. Is it happening during flight? What’s the terrain and tree cover?

    • @leejacobs5931
      @leejacobs5931 7 місяців тому

      @@STRThermal yeah I don’t know… you talked about it taking some time to lock in satellites how long you think ?

    • @STRThermal
      @STRThermal  7 місяців тому

      Usually once I have the 12 satellites needed to get a "home point" set and usually additional satellite are locked on quickly(10-30 second maybe). I'm good to go. I will say, on this very recovery, Drew re-launched his aircraft after we had the buck back at the road so we could attempt a cool drone-to-drone picture and he lost satellites after launch(he had 12 and saw it dip to 6-7) and the drone danced around and I thought he was gonna crash it. He did have the light attached at the time but I can't say if it was light that caused it...but it was definitely the worst of any post-launch weirdness I had seen before.

    What are you using to power the monitor? Great video btw

    • @STRThermal
      @STRThermal  7 місяців тому +1

      Drew is using a Jackery Explorer 300...he says it will run his 55-inch big screen for 2.5 hrs. All depends on the size and power requirements of the screen. I have a 22000mah powerbank the size of an iphone that will power my 16" usb-c monitor for 7+ hrs.

      My small one is an Innoview 15.6 inch USB-C/Mini HDMI from Amazon, I'm working on a case for something larger. Drew's 55" was just an old Sceptre TV he had....but he's got a new case with a 24" he's using now.

    How do you hook up your drone to a tv at 4:00 min
    What apps or screen mirroring are you doing?

    • @STRThermal
      @STRThermal  7 місяців тому

      In the video, Drew's is running his 55" big screen with a Jackery Explorer 300 powerstation(good for about 2.5 hrs) and a mini hdmi to standard HDMI cable. He is now running a 24" monitor in a large pelican box with the same Jackery power station and via wireless(miracast and native casting app).
      I am running a 16" monitor that uses a USB--C for power input and mini HDMI. I am also running a J5 Create 4K screencast device(and a mini HDMI to std HDMI adapter) on the monitor which allows me to connect the RC Pro wirelessly. No cables, nothing attached to the RC Pro. Drew is using the Miracast module on his monitor and the native casting app. The only drawback to this wireless method is that is conflicts with the screen record function, you can't screen record and screen cast at the same time. I have an email/video in to DJI that details this and hope there can be a fix. I prefer the wireless method to prevent cables being tripped on or yanked out of the RC pro and causing port damage.
