    Looking good! How far does the wireless connection reach?

    • @STRThermal

      I think I've probably only USED it at like 20-30 ft, but I'd had the controller at the other end of the house(50ft, multiple walls) and still broadcasting.

    Quick tip..
    I have several RC-Pro controllers and was very disappointed when I first received and saw they had used a HDMI-Mini connector.
    I was very concerned about damage, something I experienced TWICE with the HDMI-MICRO connector on the Goggles RE (Racing Edition).
    And… I try to treat my gear with care, which doesn’t matter when everything DJI selects is for maximum fragility.
    I experienced extreme fear of connector damage when I bought my latest spectrum analyzer, a pricey ($12k) piece of test gear which uses “N” type RF connector. “N” connectors are actually one of the most durable connectors in use, but I’m into overkill. 🙄
    Here’s my “solution” to avoid damage from insertion / removal…..

      That’s exactly why I’m using the wireless method…I’ve had friends with damaged hdmi ports.

      I never saw your hdmi "solution" by the way. Maybe I missed that comment or you forgot to put it. I'm a mechanical engineer and have considered a number of ideas myself.

    Hey I like your setup. I recently put something together as well. I used a 24inch tv with a power bank mounted into a hard case. I had an issue with the mirroring and wireless apps So i decided to use HDMI instead. Runs about 6 or 7 hours from what I have experienced so far. I also, upgraded to the Matrice 30t from the Mavic 3t.

    • @STRThermal

      Only issues I discovered with mirroring apps is that while mirroring you cannot screen record. The controller will indicate the screen recording is running but the data is not there when you view it back. I reported this to DJI and they say it’s an issue of hardware resources to screen record and mirror broadcast…so there is no fix. I will be looking for alternatives and I still would like to avoid the hdmi cable if possible.

      Seems like it needs to be powered though. Thus adding a cord, basically defeating the purpose.

    Great setup! I’m looking into building something similar. Question though, do you have to have wifi nearby to use the cast function or will it work without wifi somewhere like in the middle of the woods?

    • @STRThermal
      @STRThermal  29 днів тому +1

      No, no wifi necessary. Works in the boonies, that was the intent as I’m always where there’s minimal/zero signal.

  • @WW5RM

    Here is a thought. With a right angle adapter so the cable runs across the other ports ( usb C and usb A) over beside the screw hole, take a crimp ring terminal with a small wire in it, put a screw into the hole so it holds the ring terminal, wrap the wire around the HDMI cable and attach it so it puts slack back towards the mini HDMI and removes any strain. Thus creating a Strain Relief.
    Or possibly 3D printing a Strain Relief with a hole so it can be screwed into the hole. Either zip tie or hot glue the Strain Relief opening for the cable and cable so it holds it firmly.
    You just have to deal with a cable though.

    • @STRThermal
      @STRThermal  4 місяці тому +1

      Mine would be covering the port with short cable attached, then use a second cable to allow it to pull out of the first if tripped on. I’ve plugged up my Innoview to hdmi and I wasn’t impressed but I need to find the right cable combo too.

    • @WW5RM
      @WW5RM 4 місяці тому

      @@STRThermal ok well maybe with a left angle adapter, run the cable over to the other side beside the screw hole, screw it down / attach it and that would put some slack before the adapter creating a Strain Relief and not cover the ports.

    • @STRThermal

      My issue was I want to protect any force on the port(including resting it on anything....the hood of the car, my stomach, etc)...not just force of the cable weight/tension itself.

      @@STRThermal gotcha. yeah thats part of why i drug my feet for so long and not gotten a M3T. I can foresee just the screen size alone i wouldnt like it. I run a 11 inch Galaxy Tab S7 with my M3. But im old and cant see crap! lol
      The M30T has come way down in price but still almost 2X the $. Kinda seems like just the RC Plus alone might be worth it. Now we got this possible DJI ban so i still fly my M3. lol

    • @WW5RM
      @WW5RM 4 місяці тому

      @@STRThermal what about a 3D printed cover that screws into each of the two holes? That way you could rest it against you and keep the force off the connectors.
      Leave a hole for the usb C for charging.
      Someone needs to make them and sell them.

    Very nice, thank you. I sit in my Ranger and fly sometimes with someone that wants to watch a second monitor also. I really don’t have a problem with the cord now because it lets me screen record at will. What 12-14” monitor would you pick that will plug in with no additional setup to a RC Pro and has 3 hrs of internal battery life?

    That's a 250 nit brightness. I feel like it would suck during the daylight. What is your experience in the day? I bet night is fine.

    • @STRThermal
      @STRThermal  3 місяці тому +1

      You’re correct, it would not work well on a bright sunny day. But so does thermal in general. Definitely best under the shade of the tailgate of my SUV or a sunshade/canopy. Night or a cloudy day I’ve had no issues and it’s plenty bright. The key is its simplicity, cost($300 involved), and efficiency(7-10 hrs on this little powerbank). Of course there are much brighter and higher quality setups but they will cost more and be more power hungry.

      Works great, occasionally longer connection time(10-15 seconds) but otherwise great for the cost. The case can run 7+ hrs on the current 50k mah power bank. I’ve been happy with it and it’s super lightweight.
