    3:46 - When my friends come over; they can't tell what is furniture and what is scrap at my place either.
    "You've got sooo much scrap here! Hey, how much copper is in that lamp?"
    "Put that down! That's my lamp bro!!!" :D

      Lol....I am getting a handle on the mess slowly and then it is garbage day again and I am full again! The lamp works so I am not going to scrap it as yet. There is a copper wire in it, prob. .75lb of copper.

    Lots of the newer vacuums have copper coated wire so be careful when separating it.

    Great videos, really enjoying them, one question I have is what do you do with all the plastic parts that are not recyclable like the insulation for wiring?

    • @bfg69bug
      @bfg69bug 2 роки тому

      in most places you can take wire in thats not stripped. It pays less than copper strands tho.

    The motor core can actually be scrapped a little further for some dirty copper pretty easily, you'll see that on top of the copper coils, there are copper plates for the brushes, a couple hits with the hammer and those pop right off nice heavy copper chunks although still rather dirty.

    I agree with saving the silver contacts for maybe it will bwcome a category and be worth something per lb. But mixing them with the acid seems to be a bit too costly and dangerous for the yield.

    I'm just wondering do you have any deep fryers to review because I have an extra one and would love to take it apart and get to see what's inside and get to sell some of it

    I do the exact same process... but sometimes the vacuums still work so i clean them up and sell em for 20$ once i traded a dyson for a full tote bin of appliance wires! Unfortunately these days lots of the cheaper vacuums are being manufactured with aluminum motor windings and wiring... sux. Always a disappointment. I probably have like 6 working vacuums in my garage lol one for the house, one for the garage, one for the vehicles, one for the camper, etc.

    • @TinManScrapper
      @TinManScrapper  3 роки тому +1

      Yeah, I actually just found one the other day and no issues, other than some dog hair around brush. Took it off, cleaned it up and works beautifully. I agree with the aluminum windings, however, the small copper core is still copper. I am sure that eventually the scrapyards are going to want you to separate them.

    Once you dissolve the silver in nitric acid, what's the process for reconstituting it?

    • @TinManScrapper
      @TinManScrapper  3 роки тому +2

      The silver actually is the only thing that won’t dissolve with nitric acid. It is the other elements like copper that will dissolve away leaving silver to be put together and melted down
