A Do I've been working on recently is to make use of your about section and channel trailer (although I still haven't completed the trailer yet). That way, if someone is recommended to you by another streamer while you're offline, they can get to know what you're doing and who you are more easily, and are more likely to check you out the next time you're live. Also a Don't I thought of (that you kind of covered) is Don't worry too much about what other people are doing. What works for them might not necessarily work for you, and you have to figure out what would be best for your channel and your style.
I had a guy come into my stream, quickly say hi, then advertised another streamer. I'd be more understanding if he was plugging his own content, but to be a mouthpiece for a similar sized streamer was weird. I was so confused that I actually bottled my response. I won't be so laid back next time. So yeah, don't do that!
Good tips... always interesting to get insight from smaller channels (less than 1m subs) because at the end of the day, we all come from different starts and what might have been relevant for someone in the past might not be relevant now. Also, sometimes bigger channels forget that what might work for them with their reach doesn't necessarily work for someone with less reach, and sometimes they forget.
Been sharing this in my DC server too as your channel along with some others have helped. quite a ton for the past 5 months. I love watching DeeBee for entertainment too, so this is a double win. Thank you all for this wonderful video! 💗
Love the rapid fire style! Great reminders of earlier videos you made to go back and reference. I always appreciate that you reject the “grind mentality.” I work full time and stream consistently on top of that. I need to maximize the time I have to make content and it is a challenge feeling like I’m never doing enough.
As someone who created a discord community before she started streaming, I can confirm that people meme all over and get very frustrated with @everyone pings. I personally find it much better to have targeted pings for such things, so that you are less likely to cause people to mute your discord.
I’ve never had complaints and it seems to be generally accepted if you join a streamers discord but thanks for the input. I’ll keep that in mind for sure!:)
Fantastic Video as always! This video is the perfect introduction to anyone interested in streaming. You covered basically everything in just 15 minutes, very impressive.
Another super helpful video, as usual! The majority of points are things I already do, but it was good to have someone much further along than me further cement them and keep them relevant in my mind. Thanks for the encouraging content mate 🤗
Deebee gave the best advice which is simply to make a youtube channel, twitch discovery is non existant unless you get raided and can collab with bigger streamers, but anyone can learn to make good youtube videos and get discovered that way.
This is quite awesome brother! I feel like you gave me a overview of all the stuff I’ve been studying for the past couple months! Haha! Totally awesomeness brother! I’ll see you soon my dude!
Awesome video, happy to see k already follow most of the do's and Don't's. Only issue I seem to have is finding a way to pull content from my streams for other platforms, maybe a video on how to go about it would be dope
Just got my pc just about got everything ready for streaming as well only have 4 games played. Just wanted to say thanks ☺️ for the information boss I already agreed with 90% of everything you said the other %10 I didn’t really understand
Oops. Did the self-deprecating thing on a previous stream the other day (joking that I'm ugly and shit, even if in a not-serious manner.) Note taken! (To be fair, about a second later my internal brain note-takers were like "uh, let's not do that self deprecating stuff again in future, that's not a good look") Actually many notes taken--I have watched many of your fantastic videos and will definitely watch more in the future! Also, yep, did the using same titles every day thing. Definitely taking major note of that one too! I guess I'd been thinking "well I'm playing the same game again so it probably doesn't matter." But as you've shown, YES. Yes it does matter! (Also, will help with pumping the creativity muscle too!)
An awesome video as per usual, Dan! 😆👍👍 As ever, I appreciate you for taking the time to create this content as well as highlight some of the best practices to undertake when it comes to content creation and twitch etiquette. Some of the do's and don't's you'd expect or at the very least hope to be common courtesy as well as common sense. However, even with that being said, even purely as a watcher of other people's streams the amount of link drops and attempts at leeching or poaching of viewers I've seen leaves me absolutely flabbergasted every single time. 😲 Cheers to you, my man! 🍻 P.S. I've just dropped Dee Bee Geek a subscription to his UA-cam channel and a follow on his Twitch. ☺👌📷💡🎤🎧🎮
Should you have a separate social media account from your personal account? (example I have a twitter account, should I make a separate twitter or Facebook account etc for my twitch channel )?
I see no reason to start from scratch if you already have a couple of followers on your personal page:) But this is kind of preference:) Either will work tbh!
Do you have any any advice for art streamers? I do both digital art and game streams and the vibes are quite different. Game streams are obviously much more high energy and active but the art streams are a lot more chill since I'm also just genuinely trying to get some work done. Any tips on audience engagement for more chill, low energy streams? Thanks!
Thanks for the video ! however when you say use Instagram or twitter to promote that 'you' are live how can I do it if I have no followers. I mean Tiktok is the easiest but instagram and twitter ? Do i need to use # ?
As your stream grows, your social channels will see some uptick naturally. Use your stream to promote those socials and drive traffic to em. So if someone misses your stream notification, they might see your twitter/IG post:) You are just maximising reach this way:)
Do: Subscribe to xTwoShoes on UA-cam and Twitch Don't: Ignore his advice, he knows what he's talking about! Great seeing Deebee on here as well! Awesome vid
Fairly new to twitch streaming. The tags seem limited to me. Can I use ones I create or is it only the ones within twitch? I'm used to UA-cam and its tag system
Paused the video for this; Using the @everyone in Discord is, for me, an instant mute on the server / channel that it's being used in. Personally I would really advice against it, and go for the more targeted approach with a special role. Reasoning behind it is, simply put, the reason you give just before that specific 'Do'. Use @everyone for important announcements surrounding your stream / videos / life updates / whatever. The moment that you use @everyone for going live, you devalue the use of the tag and people who mute it will likely miss out on any actual important announcements down the line. I personally very rarely use @everyone, because I want people in my Discord to know that, if I use it, it's at least something 'important' (which is subjective anyway :P)
I see your point here:) But that is why I also recommend having a section for this within your discord. Having spoken at length with my community about the use of @everyone. No one seemed to have any issues with it on my end, but hey, every community is different:)
@@xTwoShoes If your community is fine with it, then by all means :D As you said, every community is different, but it just felt a bit as a DO that requires a bit more consideration before actually DOing it. I guess it also depends a bit of the size of the community, it's finicky at least and especially early on, you don't really want to chase people away from your Discord, since the more lively it is, the more traction it can gain.
DO address everyone joining your stream, and have at least some enthusiasm behind the greeting. So many times I have entered a stream checking it out the first time and said HEYO! and was greeted with a very labored "sup" or NOTHING AT ALL! It made me leave immediately when I wasn't acknowledged at all.
What are your biggest Do's and Dont's?: Let me know below! Also be sure to follow me on Twitch :D www.twitch.tv/xtwoshoes

You're limited to Twitch's tags but they have a bunch of them. Full list should be here: www.twitch.tv/directory/all/tags
Twitch will also automatically apply tags to your stream depending on what you are doing/playing. But super handy to add your own:)
