All aboard to the S.S. Yonabar! (On a serious note: This ship doesn't have that much of a fanbase until this episode, this isn't some shipping material that was popular.)
Yep, I totally ship Yona and Sandbar like UPS! I also like how they gave Sandbar so much more character in this episode! Also also, Dead5p1k3 totally needs to be a recurring thing.
12:51 "The ponies really love twirling in these latest seasons, don't they?" All the better to give the fan artists every possible angle of their subjects.
7:25 Rarity: "The weather is quite agreeable today." Luffy: "The faces really sell it!" The animators must have put in some overtime coming up with all these new Rarity faces.
So good to finally see you react to this! I totally feel you man, that song was a treat!!! Yona is my favourite, too! Not many liked this ep actually, but it is one of my favourites, too. Yandbar/Sona is just too sweet, ship it like crazy! Btw. I loved that Sandbar is so chill, that while he was not happy about Yona's change, he was also open to embrace it and enjoy the night with her anyway.
6:23 "Oh, I don't recognize this writer." Brian Hohlfeld was one of the new season 8 writers. He gave us the brilliant CMC episode "Surf And/or Turf", and the student episode "The Hearth's Warming Club".
This episodes song is another favorite of mine when it comes to Rarity. It’s got a good beat and I love hearing Kazumi’s vocals for Rarity as well, with the inclusion of Yona’s singing too.
Any episode with good songs will catch your heart huh Luffyiscool . I'm not saying that's a bad thing heck the songs were a big part of how I got into MLP.
the big thing about Yona being like that... Is that she herself wanted to be like that. She was the one who specifically asked to be more pony. It wasn't anything the others did to force her into it. She wanted to learn herself. It literally falls on to her not the main 6, even though they take the blame for it anyway. Granted the main 6 should probably have noticed that she was wanting to try to be too pony. The biggest thing I think people miss is that Yona is the one who wanted to be the best pony pal, probably because it was forced so hard. I wish there were more non ponies in the school though. It would actually help with the whole trying to be more inclusive.
I really liked this episode a lot and I feel the plot, while predictable, it was still intriguing and executed very well. I expected (to my dismay still) a good number of people not liking the episode because that's just the way the MLP fanbase is. I can respect someone's right to have an opinion, but it's hard for me to take anyone seriously when I sincerely think they're twisting and warping the actual intentions and message behind an episode and wrongly accusing the show of doing something bad or insulting. That shit right there frustrates me to no end, but of course that's not everybody so I'm not trying to generalize. What can you do I suppose.
Was this episode very predictable yes it is but you know what I actually really enjoy this episode so much actually it was really cute and sweet episode
2:20 So I'm watching this MUCH later than expected but I'm here. I, personally, believe that that Yona is both best student and best yak. It's a shame that she's almost been killed like three times now. Love the DWK reference that was made! Last thought: that moment when Sandbar approached Yona to ask her to the dance was so sweet. I mean, zero thought...straight to Yona after hearing about the dance.
This is your basic "Pygmalion" troupe. Rarity is Prof. Henry Higgins and Yona as Elisa Doolittle. Though I think you need to re-watch the Rarity shop song, during it you closed your eyes commenting on it's rhythm and missed Yona transforming into an Uber cute Yona-pony at the 9:23 mark.
One thing's for sure, Sandbar likes his women big. ;D Another thing being that Yona may be able to be a little more agile from now on. ;) And... were you imploding from cringe when the new Yona arrived at the ball?
No, I thought it was funny! I only feel cringe when the show plays something as straight up awkward then drags it out, like Spike singing improv lyrics to that huge crowd in season 4. Yona's scene wasn't anywhere near that, it was kept humorous and light hearted.
If Yona is capable of being ponified, I'd like to now see what the Young Six's EQG counterparts would look like. (9:37) And a nice callback to the Season 5 finale episode!
First, What Lies Beneath sold me on Gallus X Silverstream (after A Matter of Principals and The Hearth's Warming Club got me interested) - now this episode sells me on Sandbar X Yona. I wonder, will a future season 9 episode fully sell me on Smolder X Ocellus? I doubt it, but ya never know. Or considering what tomorrow's episode is, will I instead be sold on Spike X Smolder? I see them more as being like siblings to one another right now. (For anyone who watched the early Italian releases, no spoilers in replies plz - It wouldn't be fair to me or Luffy to have that happen)
I really hate that ending, fantastic episode though. The ponies had nothing to apologize for! They did exactly what Yona wanted them to do for her, and she was great at adapting to the pony lifestyle. Of course she didn't have to go through the trouble, but she wanted to, nobody had a problem with it, and she was great at it. If anything, the only thing that went wrong were situations she wasn't prepared for. Tripping on a too-long dress and and having a panic attack over being blinded by a wig have nothing to do with the moral, so who's to blame?
The ponies apologized as a way of showing courteousness and understandably feeling responsible for what happened to Yona because they played a part in changing her appearance and attitude. It's not entirely their fault, but you have to realize why they still felt guilty regardless.
I think they were apologizing because they didn't look deeply enough into _why_ Yona was requesting those changes, to realize that she was changing herself because she thought she _had_ to. They only focused on the substance of those changes, and if Yona wanted them or not, rather than questioning her logic, and realizing that, as the adults in the situation, they probably should've tried harder to understand the reasoning and potentially talk Yona out of it, since she is just a child (or teen). I feel like if Twilight was more a part of the proceedings, that would've happened, so it's understandable why she was only really present in the beginning and end.
Sandbar and Yona sitting in a tree. K-I-S-S-I-N-G! Looks like with practice anyone can be good at anything. Yona looked cute as a pony, but there is a matter of taking things too far, so it's better to be yourself and there is no need to be afraid. As for my other points: 7:14 Don't talk with your mouth full! 7:33 Yaks are best at burping. 7:56 Yona should learn ninjutsu using Earth style. When Yona gets to higher levels, she should learn Water style. Combine the two, and Yona will be able to grow trees. Call captain Yamato right away. 11:38 No one likes a show off Angel. 12:07 Go with the flow? You should feel the flow. Yuma Tsukumo feels it. 13:27 Does she wants them to puke? 16:21 That pony should be selling ice cream. 19:55 Why are they playing cards? Bored already? 24:04 Did the blue unicorn got his cutie mark for making fried eggs for breakfast? 24:37 Great. Keep it up, and the whole school will collapse.
This episode ships Sandbar and Yona. They are cute together! A pony and a yak...Interesting! You can love whoever you want, a girl, a boy, black, white, it doesn't matter.

I love Yonabar as a ship; that moment when Sandbar asked her to the dance was adorable. It's interesting that he literally had no thought or hesitation when he heard there was a dance, just immediately went to Yona. I can't speak for others but the only thing I didn't really like about the episode was how Rarity was changing Yona's appearance, manner of talking, and manner of carrying herself, especially when Twilight specifically opened the event up for all creatures. I mean, at the dance, you didn't see anyone else in a dress or talking/acting like Rarity was teaching her. It's admirable that Yona wanted to do this for Sandbar though(and I'm slightly biased cause she's now my favorite of the Student Six) and the moment between them at the end was sweet. Overall, I did really like the episode. That's the only bone I have to pick with it.
I don’t think rarity is trying to take away her culture or who she is she’s just trying to make her feel that she can fit in I mean my friend Kinda did the same thing
To be honest this was my least favorite episode of this season so far, but I won’t call it bad. Yona was adorable and Sandbar was a perfect gentleman, I totally ship them. The song was great too. I just don’t like the story.
Hi I really like your channel. I am really wanting to start a reaction channel of my own but I am concerned about copyright laws when you are playing a song or a video, how do you get around that or get permission to post full episodes on your channel do you have any advice for me. Thank you and luv your channel.
Usually, songs and audio aren't automatically blocked. The company just claims and monetizes your upload. Episodes of shows are usually blocked if detected, and you have to dispute the claim with a plea for letting the video stay public. Since this step has become harder, a common trick is to do what I've done in this video. Stretching the video out can trick the robots that detect the footage. Doesn't work every time though.
Awww I like the way how sandbar is so shy asking yona to the dance 😊
Yona and sandbar are cute together & the song was good. Overall This episode was just adorable.

Interspecies romance is now canon! (Sparity doesn't count, as that only went one-way)
I wonder how Yona and Sandbars parents will take this. XD
From what little we've seen, I get the feeling that Sandbar's parents would be cool with just about anything.

Brian Hohlfeld was one of the new season 8 writers. He gave us the brilliant CMC episode "Surf And/or Turf", and the student episode "The Hearth's Warming Club".

Yona is such a sweet cinnamon roll and she needs to be protected at all costs! 💕💕
This really was a sweet and cute episode. I don't care too much if it was predictable. It was too adorable for that to matter.

For me every episode where Rarity singing is my favorite. I love Rarity and her style❤❤. She's perfect character, only I love Sunset more.

Exactly, that's what makes this episode feel so fresh.
Yona wanted this for herself, which isn't usually the case in stories like this.
This is a great episode. Yona gets some great development. Sandbar is great. Yona going full pony is great.

Since this step has become harder, a common trick is to do what I've done in this video. Stretching the video out can trick the robots that detect the footage. Doesn't work every time though.
