It's weird how in Wani's E4 the various characters basically got to live their dreams, while Snoot feels a bit more realistic. The optimism of youth getting replaced by the mundane reality of adulthood. Anon and Lucy even spending years apart in the best case scenario, while Olivia and Inco are together in all but E1. Even some of the characters get mellowed out. Ben might be an a-hole, but he doesn't mean to be. Trish is far more unlikable and active in making you not like her, but she also gets more of a redemption than Ben, whose whole recovery in E4 happens off-screen.
Ngl, I disliked Trish far more than Ben... Idk Ben doesn't even kinda feel alive? Same with Mia. They're kinda carton characters

The worst thing about the Cavemanon games is when you get the fourth ending the first time, because then you realize that you have to go through all the others and personally destroy the happiness that you yourself built. I did this with Snoot Game and with Wani I will delay this moment until the bonus chapters appear.
I don’t know why, but I want to share my story with Snoot Game (probably because I’m writing this drunk). I spent a year in a very bad place, in the conscript army. I didn't want to be there, but the law obliged me to go through it. To say that I hated this place is an understatement. I had no rights, I was a nobody in the eyes of my superiors, I was just a tool that no one cared about, and all I could do was immerse myself in work so that time would pass faster. I saw a lot, heard a lot, I sent people to war (which I hated), knowing that many of them would not return and I knew many of them personally. All I wanted was to go home, forget this year and become myself again.
And when I came back and found this game. And honestly... I don’t even know how to describe what I felt, but this game made an indelible impression on me. This game helped me recover and overcome this traumatic experience.
It's funny, because when I started this game I thought I would see 4chan's shitpost on a woke game about dinosaurs. And I didn’t expect that this shitpost would make me cry. Thank you Cavemanon, thank you for helping me during this shitty time. And thank you to whoever reads this comment, wish you all the best.

Wani's ending 1 is heartbreaking but Snoot Game's ending 1 is so brutal that it is becomes too over the top.

@thelastdinosaur4978 My theory is that that ending was conceptualized first, inspired by the meme, and then the idea to take it more seriously grew from there.

I can disassociate with Snoot's Ending 1, but from what I've been spoiled regarding Wani's E1 route I feel like it's a lot more realistic and thus would probably be more gut wrenching when I get to it.
I think they did it that way to punish people who went for ending one first because they thought it would be funny, only to be hit in the face with how not funny it is.

Congratulations, your heart is in the right place considering you got both 4th Endings back to back. Still the curse of getting best ending first continues. I'd say that Snootgame is more "edgy" while wani played some themes and jokes on a safer side. Both are excellent

I really love how cavemanon deside that in order to get the epilogue you have to get the 4 endings , and most of the people will get the 4th or the 3th in their first run (and if you are realy bad the 2nd) and because of how the story is so charming, the curiosity of what happend the the others endings lead you to get the other and usually the last one is the ED 1
And the you get the epilogue, so they make sure that you have passed the living hell that are ed 1 and 2 to hit you with the wholesome epilogue so you could really appreciate it

Part of the reason I think Snoot Game has a better protagonist than Wani (Anon Vs. Inco) is that it feels much easier to both sympathize and empathize with Anon because he is much more of a blank slate compared to Inco.

Really ? They both most definitely aren't blank slates to me. Anon is a paranoid asshole that grows to be a better person by respecting and supporting others. Inco starts out as a fun loving guy that is way more outgoing (which gets him to stick his foot in his mouth) and grows as a person by sticking with his goals while also supporting and pushing others to make progress in their lives. I don't ship myself with fang I ship the character Anon with Fang.

I said that Anon is **MORE of a blank slate than Inco.** Yes, Anon has an established character going into the game, but Unlike Inco, Anon starts from the perspective of "I just want to breeze through this year without being noticed", which means that there's much more room for the player to internally decide how Anon feels and changes without experiencing cognitive dissonance.
Anon is the perspective you experience the story through; He simply makes for a smoother emotional proxy than Inco.

I played both Cavemanon Visual novels recently, and have been violently ripped out of a rut. Not properly learning on the job, playing video games for years (also way too much), literally do not go out and zero same age relationships outside of work, just following the motions, wake up, go to work, come back home, play video games, go to sleep. Was bullied all the way through school since elementary school all the way up to graduation, and had to put on a act for the last few years of school to get into a "friend's group" and basically barely scooted by thanks to covid making basically anyone pass. Went to therapy for around a year, broke that off because they pushed me into group sessions when I really didn't want to, so I just went to the required ones and stopped soon after. When I started getting the job training, it felt better, people my age who didn't treat me like shit, for the first time in a literal decade. But I've been slacking off on learning for it properly and I know it's bad, but I can't stop doing literally anything else. After having suffered from a depressive episode (only realised it after the winter) and being a bit bored, I was like, sure, why not try out the Wani demo. Bought the full game the second the demo was over. Playing through Wani, got snoot game, got ending 4 blind first try on both games (yay me) and that just violently snapped me out of like a daily trance. I don't wanna play video games anymore, I want to finally be in a relationship, where my previous slump made me effectively just not care. So, now what. What do I do. What should I do.

I have got to see what they cooked up there. I heard about wani then heard about snoot seeing it was free I gave a try and wow was I pleasantly surprised. I got ending 3 on my first playthrough and the bitter sweetness of it all is just chef's kiss. I enjoy story driven games but have never gave a vn or dating sim like games an honest try. So glad I did with snoot

Nope, first playthrough was blind. I kept quiet the whole time because I believed what Fang needed at that moment was somebody to vent to. I wouldn't know what to say to somebody during a moment like that, so it fit with how I'd act. The advice that Spears gives earlier in the game also helped me keep my mouth shut.
I WAS worried that I fucked it up when she got a little upset at Anon not saying anything, though.

Snoot mods I've played: Fishing Trip, Culture Night, and Puppet Pals. They're all fantastic and recommended.
There's also the mini-VNs: She's a Bit Sluggish, A Star in Her Eyes, and She Likes You Alotl. Cavemanon are also currently making an rpg with the characters from those called Exit665.
I guess there's also the shitpost mod for Wani called "Little Gator," but it's a shitpost mod. It's mostly just silly.

I'm so happy to have been recommending this and have the pleasure of joining you on this journey, even if it was short, it felt like a whole 10 seasons of a series.
Snoot Game was a roundhouse kick to my heart.
I happily argue that the only good ending is 4, 3 is so damned painful because Fang loses everything, Her friends, her family, her passion, its all gone, she is a shell of who she was and is completely reliant on Anon for her emotional stability. No one should have that kind of control over a person and their mental health. You can only hope that Anon is going to treat her right and keep supporting her, because that is all she has left.

That's what fanfics are for! Bonds (and its prologue) was a good one for E3, for me. Been a bit since I read it, though. I had the expectation that fanfics were all "My Immortal" or MLP:FiM "Cupcakes"-tier garbage, but Snoot, Wani, Deltarune, and Undertale: Yellow fanfics have really turned me around on that. Some solid stories people have written out of a passion for an IP.
That makes sense…however the fear that I had the whole time on my blind playthrough that I was going for the bad ending only to get Ending 3, one of the 2 not horrible ones, was a huge relief
Damn mate, you good? I know Wani can hit like a truck right on the feelings but you seemed to take the hit worse with SG, but look at the bright side, your emotional strenght is up now by a 100 points after experiencing...all that, also, props for doing the E4 on the first run, with this game felt a little more tricky to actually choose the right options sometimes.
It was a bumpy ride to be honest, all the endings are fantastic but with SG feels...wrong is a certain way, not the bad kind obviously but the first two just hit very hard, and the bittersweet taste of the third is good but very sad at the same time. The song of the E4, the one of the Prom that Fang made was oustanding, such sweet and calming melody just with the guitar alone...I wonder how it can sound with some lyrics attached to it.
Anyhow, thanks to you for making the Wani video in the first place, the reactions and memes were fantastic, and this one was even better I say. Also, that sadness, that hollow feeling after you finish the game with all the endings and bonus chapters, my goodness is quite persistent, I finished the game a handful of days ago, and I still feeling down.

At the risk of getting lambasted, I recommend a VN called Echo. It's extremely furry and extremely gay, but its story goes to some dark yet fascinating places.

@@BuiBwee I also suggested this but I also recommend the rance series, yes the genre of game may be a red flag at first but that’s because a key detail is missing and that detail is in fact that is that Alice are f’ing wizards, it is surprising how much heart, detail and story there is in this kind of game, never played them myself but from I’ve seen it is slept on how good it is just because of the surface fact of the genre. There will be no regrets because the rabbit hole will suck you up in this bizarre world.

after my completionist run of snootgame, hearing Amberlight Brilliance always immediately wrecks me in the feels.
this was such an unforgettable experience of a game and I loved it so very much.
The part of Snoot Game that has actually actively caused a positive affect on me over the past year is simply letting someone who's emotionally speaking to let it all out before giving your input. Hell, even two days ago I applied this when my grandma was talking to me. It's small, but a permanent positive impact on my character, thanks to this game.
I just want you to know, that these twos videos, about I Wani Hug That Gator, and this one about Snoot Game, convinced me to finally play them both. I have to agree with you that they broke me emotionally. But they also made me realize that I have things to improve myself on, and that supporting others is truly the best way to show someone that you care about them. Thank you so much for these videos, and introducing me to my two new favorite games of all time, bar none.

I played through Snoot game a few months ago, and I had the same reactions as you. The games writing is so good and you do not expect it. It was my first introduction to a visual novel, and it made me happy and depressed (that first ending is brutal). TBH it has scared me from playing I wani hug that Gator.

Another game you could play that's pretty famous is Everlasting Summer. It was made by a russian imageboard and it's pretty fun(and free). Also, it has a single mod called 7ds that is pretty much a sequel to the first game, made by some of the original writers.
To give an idea, Everlasting Summer has around 12 unique endings. 7ds has around 60 unique endings.

Sixty endings... is quite a lot, especially if most of them aren't dead ends.
I just finished the last bonus chapter (I have been watching this video in chunks to avoid spoilers) and I legit teared up. I got E2 on my blind playthrough and it felt like a punch in the gut. I'll admit, I didn't go into the game expecting to fall in love with the characters but it got me.
My second playthrough was the bizarro run i.e. I picked the exact opposite of what I picked last time... and I got E1. It broke my heart but it also made me realize just how close I was to at least E3 on my first go. It made me feel determined to achieve the happier endings for these characters.
I then got E3 and intentionally saved E4 for last. I'm glad it turned out the way it did as finishing on the true ending made all of the heartache working up to it worth it. Bravo Cavemanon Studios. This is one of the best written romance stories I've ever experienced.

This game changed me so much im making a mod which replaces the characters with ones from different games (Anon=solid snake, Naser = Gunbuster, Fang = Boss(mgs)) so that more people will play it.
I heard him say he wasn't sure he was going to get emotionally invested into the game because it was a parody game, I can't wait to see that change. XD

Ending 1 for me it didn’t fuck me up like most people, during the ending I was just…. Shocked, like I can’t believe that they drew all of those pictures. Still, I have never been so shocked at an ending of a game like this, that shit is gonna stick with me

I just finished my second playthrough of snoot game in god dammit I've never been more emotionally invested in video game characters before
First time playing Snoot game was back in October of last year. I was depressed, alone, and an alcoholic (discard from the military, lol) got into a bad break up, my homies left me. So most of the time I was on my computer and gym. I remember seeing GVH on steam and thought about getting it cause I like story games like this. I check the reviews and everyone was talking about getting snoot game so I got snoot game and it was great. I ended up getting ending 4 as my first play through. ON GOD!! I never felt so lonely man. Man, we had the same playthrough experience....big ups and brutal downs. Moe and Spears are amazing men to look up to, give great advice, so rare to see depicted well. Ending 2 has a great fanfiction called Broken wings, I would recommend giving it a read.

When I completed my walkthrough in snoot game I felt the same way. After it all I did was playing my favorite maps in Gmod (i was walking around the map, while Good Faith playing on background)
After watching your first video I decided to buy I wani hug that gator when I get my next paycheck. When I saw this video about snoot game I knew I had to play this one right away. This is such a beautiful, heartwarming experience that it’s changed my life for the better. In real life I’m at that stage in my story with a beautiful wife and daughter which made this experience hit home the hardest. Thank you for showing me this and I can’t wait to see what the next game will be.
