Almond to Almond isn’t a bad idea from my experience as long as it’s not from the same family. Done it with success and my young birds flew happy and healthy

Rubella is a sex-linked recessive gene, an allele of reduced. I have never bred it, I don't think we have the gene in Australia, but it seems highly variable.

No, I do not mix breeds. I actually keep immaculate records, my pedigrees and records go back to the 1940s. The pigeons I have without rings were bred by other breeders. That being said, you might be interested to know that the modern racing homer is a very recently developed breed (late 1800s), made up of many crosses.

Almond is dominant, so crossing the non-almond children together will not produce almond like it would if it were a recessive gene. You can post pictures on pigeongenetics.com/forum

If you pair almond to almond you'll get a lot of blind babies, pairing almond to red, bronze, or dark check is best.

Dilute (the gene behind dunn, yellow, etc) is sex-linked. Pair a dunn to her father or son and you'll start producing cockbirds in these colours.

No, you cannot substitute stipper for grizzle unfortunately. Stipper is the most important gene in the mix.

There is only one recipe, you need to combine all of those genes into the one pigeon.

How many generations would it take if starting from beginning and stock to produce an almond.
You could theoretically do it in 2 generations from four initial pigeons. It wouldn't be the best quality almond, but it would be an almond.

In that mating the check has nothing to do with it. Adding spread is what gives you the black.

As was very clearly stated in the video, you need stipper, kite, recessive red, and dark check. You cannot create classic almond any other way.

The stipper gene is dominant, a pigeon cannot carry it without expressing it.
