How does the driver open/close, unlock/lock the door on a school bus? A 1990 Blue Bird AARE diesel.

A different door control setup than our more modern CNG and Electric school buses.
That’s a cool bus! The county I drive for has some of the newer bluebirds and some internationals, but we still have a few cab over bluebird buses that we use as spares and all I can say is, I can’t wait for my bus to either break down or needs servicing because I love driving the older buses 😂
Did the lock come with the bus or is it aftermarket?
Came from the factory this way. I believe we had 6 buses with this lock system at one time.
That locking mechanism on that bus is not the best one because you can easily take wire cutters and cut the wire and open the door I would use a padlock
True, after these most went to internal locking mechanisms. I used to use and Iron post with a welded loop on the bottom and length of chain on my 2nd personal bus it works great because the public can't figure out how it is locked.

When it's locked yes.
