@HooNda Hell THE DENVER LANES " STARTED AT LOCKE HIGH SCHOOL". "DL" SETS DID'NT POP UP IN INGLEWOOD TIL THE 200O'S ALONG WITH INGLEWOOD PIRU SETS. CAN'T UNDERSTAND WHY " INGLEWOOD 'DL'S AND IFG' ARE GOING AT EACH OTHER. FROM THE START " THE CHAINGANG /IFG" WERE 100% ANTI-CRIP..." THAT'S THE WHOLE REASON IT STARTED WAS TO FIGHT AGAINST THE CRIPS.
The actual Blood gang attachment started in 1977 in the Low Bottoms and also technically in 1973 when the Villians added on Bloodstone. When people say Brims are the first Bloods,They're talking about the first anti Crip gang to sport red bandana's. Brims been wearing different color bandana's since 1969 but in 1973,The Red flag was chosen as the permanent color for the Brims and the Black Stones. What A.C saying is simply the L.A.P.D labelled everyone as Bloods in 1974 but the Piru's kept it Piru,They never attactched the Blood title like the gangs in L.A did. So there's actually 3 different Blood origins, The 1st Bloods with the Red bandana The 1st to use Blood as a gang lingo And the 1st gang to add Blood in name
@@TheFinancialFrank I'm not just talking about colors though. I'm talking about bandana's. Even in today's time, Every Blood & Crip gang got they own personal gang color but my point was that Red bandana became the identity of all Bloods in the Los Angeles area.
@@mrla3910 No doubt. I can't speak for the L.A. streets but The P. Stones, I can vouch on their identity. They didn't & still don't wear bandanas outside of L.A.. They originally wore Red Berets. But I see where you're coming from bro.
@@TheFinancialFrank Yeah in LA it's all about the of your color bandana fam And yeah the Bps in Chicago has alot of influence from the Muslim culture so that's why you see them move how they move.Red,Black and green berets like Africans in Africa and then one of they laws is not eating pork like the Muslims. They most definitely really militant out there in Chicago.
When I mention " Bloods "..... I mean "ANY GANG THAT WAS AGAINST THE CRIPS "...... The term wasn't a Gang thing til the "FLAGS " Came into play. The colors kicked in around late 73 or early 74....SINBAD
These interviews are therapeutic for me. I was born in 83 at Centinela and grew up on 120th and Normandie. Most of that area of LA and Inglewood was still all black. It's cool hearing about how it used to and all the places these dudes used to hang out at. I remember Devil's Dips, the batting cages on Western, Southwest Bowling Alley, The Mirage Club, Brolly Hut. Those were local landmarks back in the day
THAT is a FACT !! I was close with the "O.G. DENVER LANES "..... TRUE O.G.'s... BEAN, WILL, SLIM AND MICHAEL " FOREHEAD " BERRY. They rolled in a pack of VW BUGS...... Till this day "VW's are associated with Bloods in L.A. And INGLEWOOD....SINBAD
Salute Bro Kev! Man this seriously good History! I appreciate things Inglewood. Bro Sinbad, brought History on Inglewood that I hadn't heard before. Salute Bro Sinbad. Some of my Family live in some of places he spoke on. Definitely like wat he said about the Black Karate group. I was deep into Bruce Lee, and as a result got into martial arts. My Dad took me 3-4 nights a week to train starting at 8yrs of age. Bro Kev, I look forward to the rest of this series. Kev u on a roll Homie! One great piece of work after another. Respect Kev! Respect Sinbad!
@drunken master ah man, that had me laughing! U prolly right tho! The dude I learned martial arts from, once told all the students, that wen he arrived here n america that he had n altercation, with a big brother. N the brother tore his ass up. The instructor's point was never underestimate ur opponent. I was 9 at the time. Sounded to me like he just cudn't handle a big brother! But he later stated, he had since then perfected his skills. Hmmm . . . 😑
There are too many stories about how the bloods and crips started in L.A.!!! Shit it seems like nobody knows the actual story. All these years people were calling Pirus bloods and now there not??? SMFH
MADNEW YORKER Fool shut up & go figure out who gave OG Mack The Snitch permission to start the Bloods in NYC. The real & only true Bloods are them riders out of New Jersey. They actually was politicking with real LA Bloods before they start pushing the B. If you ask me, NJ is the true home of the Blood Kar on the east coast.
No Sinbad said it but maybe you didnt catch it, " eventually became blood " so he is not saying they were blood at the time but the first to put the blood moniker as time went on was the Brims. And mind you he is a LA cat, Compton is a whole different ball game.
To my understanding bloods formed in YA 1974..Piru Bounty Hunters Brims united..so technically there can't be a first blood set..if there was it's Piru..there were a lot of anti crip gangs though
My mother's friend "Micey" had three son's that were from Inglewood Family around the same time of 1971-72. I was still in elementary school at the time and those dudes were in Jr High, if they were even going to school. Them dudes were bad as hell. They had me hanging with them and they use to steal everywhere we went, all up and down Manchester and Century, from San Pedro Ave, all the way to Inglewood. Also, on stolen bikes, from the Eastside, we would go straight up Manchester while holding onto cars, all the way to Playa Del Rey. There use to be the lawnmower shop on Manchester around 8th Ave or so, on the South side of the street. They also sold mini bikes and Honda Mini Trails there. They stole a couple of the Mini Trails from there. I was rolling stolen Honda's and mini bikes at 9 & 10 years old. With them, we use to sneak into both the 5th Avenue and the Academy theatres. Keep in mind that I was only in elementary school 😎
I’m surprised you didn’t ask him about Barefoot Pookie. He was a leader of the Smacks and has talked about going to the movie theaters getting active back in the 70s.
I don’t know what people are talking about. Big Mumpy is HANDS DOWN THE BEST INTERVIEW IN THIS ENTIRE LIBRARY!! Not even close. I’ve easily watched it at least 8 times!!!
The end of this video made me think of AC, but then I went back and listened to what he said again about the origin of the Blood sets, key wording...he says what he remembers, keeps both guys valid, but some wont understand...cant wait for more
The confusion is Brims never named they gang the Bloods, They went by Brims than and go by Brims now... So when we say Brims are the 1st Bloods we actually mean the 1st anti Crips with the Red bandana
A lot of families migrated from the South to escape the racism, depressed atmospheres, and the lack of equal opportunities. The families generally migrated to the larger cities to the West, or to the North, mainly places like Los Angeles, Chicago, Detroit, and Philadelphia. Los Angeles was the future home of many that were hugely migrating from the states of Texas, Louisiana, and Alabama. There were mass migrations from Mississippi that landed them in the "Windy City" of Chicago. Many African Americans in the city of Detroit have their U.S. origins stemming from the state of Arkansas. And finally, many African American migrants in the state of Pennsylvania, residing in the cities of Pittsburgh and Philadelphia, hugely migrated from the Southern areas such as Virginia and Washington D.C. As many individuals are not aware that the "South" was considered to be from the District of Columbia (D.C.), and down😐
If you take what you heard in this interview and remember what Hawk, Barefoot Pookie, Nugget and Ceaser discussed in their interviews that early Inglewood/southern part of the west side is becoming A LOT more clear about how everything was and came to be. Early Inglewood Crip and early Denver Lane history would fill in a lot of the blanks about the big picture....obviously Hoovers too but not banking on that one.
That is what up. I went to Curtiss Junior High. We called it gangsta Curtiss. No lie, Curtiss was one of the baddest junior highs in LA County. I don’t what it is like now. I remember the gang fights and sadly even a Armored truck driver was robbed and killed on our campus.
Shout out to the original Chain Gang/Inglewood Family, Denver Lanes, Athens park and Brims, they were all approached and pressed by the Crips to turn Crip, however they stood their ground unlike others hoods, like the Smacks, Sportsman park boys, and Al Capones, they got pressed and were forced to turn Crip.
@@roneducator , I wouldn't necessarily say that. A lot of the more prominent gangs of the present, "powerhouses," many of them began as just "wannabe's." Remember that, Raymond Washington, the founder and the originator of the modern day Black gang banger, he himself was a "wannabe. Raymond wanted to be a part of the Avenues. He wanted to be a part of Craig Munson's crew, that was a huge factor in the area, after the reign of the Slausons. After Raymond's "Crips," there were numerous "pop-up factions. Many we've heard of here on Kev Mac Videos, and many more that we'll hear of in the future. So, in most of these cases, the term "wannabe" does'nt necessarily carry a negative connotation😼
It would be interesting to hear him speak more on the Denver Lanes, I've read their history of anti-crip activity existed even before the Blood identity.

Kev Mac playing the whole map this week...compton to inglewood. Good interview. Lots of west side information that hasn't been told. I lived on Van Ness between 104th and 108th from 67-70, and he is right about inglewood being 95 % white at the time.
I lived over there between the ages of 5 -8 years old. I went to Clyde Woodworth elem. That little patch bordered by Van Ness and Crenshaw to the east / west and Century & Imperial hwy. To the north /south was the blackest part of inglewood at that time. The rest was as white as the top of mount everest
@@peppajack2149 As far as who ran that area at that time i think it was open territory ,tho niggas were thugging pretty hard already. My older cousins who lived off 92nd and cimmaron were already fighting with crips by '70. And a dude named Davion was making noise at Inglewood high in an early version of the IFG.
The more I learn, the more it's Confirmed that Crip'n caused the Blood Alliance to occur and now get what that OG Brim meant. Just like when HIP HOP was born in 1972, it didn't get a name til 79...
Blood is a response to Crip, plain and simple. There would be no Bloods if not for Crips, and I don't mean that as an insult or diss, it just is what it is. Crips was an overwhelming force of bullies all over LA so the only options for all the remaining non-Crip gangs was to either turn Crip, get they hood took or click up and get some numbers so they could fight back. Bloods picked to unite and fight. Got to respect that.
Yes... That is exactly true. Prince Racketeers were based around Kipling school.... On 93rd and Wallace. I lived on 95th and Parnell and went to Kipling. What's your grandma's name I might know her from school ?...SINBAD

I don’t know how you linked this to follow up from swan . Not it was perfect timing. He basically says the same thing mentioned about the Inglewood crips. I’m wondering why Raymond cousin hasn’t been mentioned as an original west side. Or maybe I just haven’t heard it.
If you watch the " Jimmy Lavender " videos . He talks about " Michael ' FOREHEAD ' Berry" and other east side O.G.s all going to school with him..... SINBAD

So there's actually 3 different Blood origins,
The 1st Bloods with the Red bandana
The 1st to use Blood as a gang lingo
And the 1st gang to add Blood in name
The Black P. Stones colors were always Green, Red & Black since 1959 in Chicago. So it would only be natural for them to sport Red, even in L.A..
@@TheFinancialFrank Yeah in LA it's all about the of your color bandana fam
And yeah the Bps in Chicago has alot of influence from the Muslim culture so that's why you see them move how they move.Red,Black and green berets like Africans in Africa and then one of they laws is not eating pork like the Muslims.

Some of my Family live in some of places he spoke on. Definitely like wat he said about the Black Karate group. I was deep into Bruce Lee, and as a result got into martial arts.
@@mauriceschaeffer5070Still L.A comes before Compton in the gang world
To my understanding bloods formed in YA 1974..Piru Bounty Hunters Brims united..so technically there can't be a first blood set..if there was it's Piru..there were a lot of anti crip gangs though
Real informative! Good shit!

The end of this video made me think of AC, but then I went back and listened to what he said again about the origin of the Blood sets, key wording...he says what he remembers, keeps both guys valid, but some wont understand...cant wait for more
The confusion is Brims never named they gang the Bloods,
They went by Brims than and go by Brims now...
So when we say Brims are the 1st Bloods we actually mean the 1st anti Crips with the Red bandana
That’s the entire problem with this history is people don’t know how to receive the information. Keywords and dates are important.

It’s funny...all the triple OG’s weren’t even born in California...their all from the south...says a lot
I'm From Chicago.....SINBAD
Most black families are from the South, when they migrated they came to LA and Chicago, also New York!
Black ppl in general came from the South duh they later migrated to L.A Chicago NY Detroit Boston etc
As many individuals are not aware that the "South" was considered to be from the District of Columbia (D.C.), and down😐
I’m born and raised in south central. My family is all from Texas and Louisiana...makes sense
I attended Monroe Jr High 4 years later, in 1975🏣
If you take what you heard in this interview and remember what Hawk, Barefoot Pookie, Nugget and Ceaser discussed in their interviews that early Inglewood/southern part of the west side is becoming A LOT more clear about how everything was and came to be. Early Inglewood Crip and early Denver Lane history would fill in a lot of the blanks about the big picture....obviously Hoovers too but not banking on that one.

Man. Didn't know Curtiss went that way.... It was still new and cool when I was there
Very good
Kev,
When are you going to do that movie on the the birth of the bloods and crips??? I see you doing that, no one else!!!
Some gangs wanted to become Crips, the Smacks were a Bull Shit wana be gang!
Lol Haha ain’t shit funny That’s right
@@roneducator , I wouldn't necessarily say that.

May I ask who ran that area at that time and did you go to Century park/Clay and Wash?
I lived over there between the ages of 5 -8 years old. I went to Clyde Woodworth elem. That little patch bordered by Van Ness and Crenshaw to the east / west and Century & Imperial hwy.
