This scene really showed the actress who portrayed Charlene her acting chops! The hurt, disappointment, but yet pride she displayed in this scene was great!
Jean Smart is a treasure. Grateful that her work has spanned so many decades and that the last couple of years have seen her continuing to slay quite prominently (“Hacks,” “Mare of Easttown,” “Watchmen,” “Legion,” “Fargo,” etc.) Her presence simply elevates any work.
Jim Hall That scene is at the end of this episode. Season 2, episode 14, entitled “Second Time Around”. A classic. But sadly one of the videos removed by UA-cam and is not viewable.
Charlene always reminds me of myself. When she loves, she loves all-out. But she has her pride. Unfortunately I never found my Colonel, just the trains that continues to run me down. And I will continue to say it doesn't hurt.
I think the Bill and Charlene love story has to be one of my all-time favorites. I've been looking for the full episode "I'll be seeing you" but can't find it.
Kat Reid: Their love story is a favorite of mine, as well. Charlene, even though she was a woman of a particular age, she did not settle!! I am confident that I'll be married one day very soon, even though I am 50+ and have never been married!! God IS In Control!!

I hate how he breaks her heart here. It was like he hurt someone so kind, warm and sweet just seemed unfair. Charlene you are a truly wondeful southern belle.

Everyone has been there, done that, concerning this scene.I always liked this show, the road trips were the funniest.I preferred the eps from before Charlene ever got pregnant. After she got pregnant, it was like she couldn't do anything with the others anymore, and she wasn't as funny.I always thought Delta Burke and Anita Potts had witty humor.Anthony was hilarious when he 'teamed up' with Delta Burke on any episode. You Tube used to have several complete eps of the show, but haven't been able to find them lately.
Bill should have told Charlene on date 1 that he had no interest in dating anyone because of his late wife. Alot of people never marry again because of their intense love for a deceased spouse. Charlene kept "chasing after" Bill. I never thought he was good looking, and for a military guy he acted like a wimp, even more so in the Nightmare from Hee Haw ep. He always acted odd. The eps were funniest before he ever showed up.
I’m back lol. That’s so true. My cousin’s husband was killed while changing a tire. Her daughters suffered in grief and so did she. Never married again.
I appreciate what you’ve said and for some, it’s true. Bill was ready for Charlene, he was simply feeling guilt and fear. Cause he was so devoted to Nancy (first wife). He felt as if he were cheating on her. He knew he wasn’t, but that didn’t stop him from grieving just a little bit more. He should’ve opened up more to Charlene, she could’ve helped him with that.
this really mames no sense why these qomen never won or even were nominated for Emmys..no one but susanne sugarbakker amd she should have freakin won for the class reunion scene qhen she had gained the weight
I have liked this show since it began new, and I always liked Charlene and Bill, but always thought she acted kinda hovering toward Bill while they dated. She seemed too clingy at times, like she was desperate for a steady guy and marriage. She mainly went on about him being a colonel, as if that was the most important thing about him.The funniest eps were those involving road trips, especially the one to Memphis. The show wasn't as funny after Charlene and Suzanne left the series. Those 2 created the main humor; Julia, Anthony, and Annie Potts had wry humor.Anthony and Suzanne were hilarious together, more so whenever he panicked.

She is great. And those shoulder pads!
@@pattyamato8758She's absolutely gorgeous, inside and out!
Id love to see the part where Julia has a talk with him and tells him no one expects him to stop loving his late wife just because she died.

One of favorite episodes. I love that song at the end.
Charlene is the most funniest of the 4 women!! Bill & Charlene are a cute couple.
This scene gives me chills!
Gives me chills & makes me cry...every single time!
At least he came out and said it. Most men will never.

Charlene you are a truly wondeful southern belle.
That shows you just how great these actors are. They take words from a page and transform them into characters we cry for. Truly gifted performers.
Where can I find the full video
Yikes, poor Charlene.
Do you have the beginning of the episode where he talks to Julia?
That's the end of the video
She's hurt
