    It sounds more like an old tractor than a motorbike. I like it.

      That's a new description, a friend of mine said it was like riding a cement mixer, and like you he liked it. Thank you for your comment.

    Beautiful bike. If I ever get a chance I'll grab one. I've got several Guzzis now including an Ercole.

      The Ercole is as rare as it gets in the UK, I do love the Falcone, and the Civile are not so common either it would make a great addition to your collection. I will contact you if I ever decide to move mine on.

    Hi beautiful bike. Being from the midwest in the United States, we don't see many Moto Guzzi bikes around. What year is your Falcone? Thanks.

    • @oldguyinshed1703
      @oldguyinshed1703  2 роки тому

      Hi thanks for your interest. The Falcone is a 1973 model, at least that's what the UK registration says. also I believe it is correct as this bike was a rehash of the the dated Miltire and Lino Tonti had a hand in its redesign, this of course is a bone of contention amongst the purist Tonti fan base. I believe Guzzi had a higher take up rate in California but I cannot be sure of that.

    At last, someone who understands that a motorcycle needs to get up to operating temperature by being ridden if ever started.
    Something about being mechanically sympathetic as opposed to being just pathetic.

      I always felt that just starting any engine without working the rest of the machine did more harm than good. Especially the clutch and gearbox.

    The combination of my poor hearing and the unsuitable acoustics of the place where you're recording means I have to really consentrate to understand what you say.

    Could the nutjob responsible for this be Lino Tonti?
    He worked for Benelli, Aermacchi, Bianchi, Gilera, Moto Guzzi, Paton and Mondial.

    • @oldguyinshed1703
      @oldguyinshed1703  3 роки тому +1

      Yes Lino Tonti did have a hand in its design although not total control as it was a derivative of the Aironi and the military spec, with this in mind maybe his in put was cosmetic. I really don't know for sure.

      @@oldguyinshed1703 At Aermacchi he was responsible for the Linto (surprise, surprise) and that is the only other 500 with a horizontal cylinder but having been used for racing I doubt it had a similarly steroid infused fly wheel.

    • @oldguyinshed1703
      @oldguyinshed1703  3 роки тому

      @@gustavmeyrink_2.0 The Linto was very different in that it was in essence two 250cc Aermacchi engines, as a twin it would not require the flywheel size, also the engine was oversquare allowing for much higher rev range. As a side comment some inventive people have in fact shaved the flywheel and fitted super chargers to the Falcone these guys really are why off centre field but have done beautiful work, check it out on the web.

      @@gustavmeyrink_2.0 I have watched this before but watched it again, fantastic, this is why all forced induction engine where assigned with a 1.6 capacity multiplier making the 650cc a 1040cc , it doesn't matter for Goodwood as it is more for the spectacle, although the riders all still want to ride the wheels of the bikes.
