I’m totally sold on EGS grading. I’ve send so far Avengers 1 2 & 3, Fantastic Four 52, Marvel Spotlight 5 and Silver Surfer 4. I was so happy that sent 9 other Silver Age comics including my Hulk 5 from 1962.
I think they definitely could have done better in shipping, thin styrofoam isn't enough to protect. The "floating" top banner doesn't impress me at all. Do you think the grading would be the same if you submitted it to CGC? How bad is the slope in the case. Will the book move around inside?
The shipping was actually real good. The insert is specifically made to hold slabs and protect them. The grading... I find cgc to be wildly unpredictable, they don't adhere to their own system often. These egs grades seemed fair and I wouldn't expect them much different depending on a good or bad day at cgc
There are 2 reasons why their turnaround time was spot on; 1. They are the new kid on the block so they have to impress 2. It’s still a new company thus not many have heard or even if one had, may not place too much trust in them, hence the low numbers which meant quick turnaround time. Wait till they become huge & successful like cgc, then we can make a better judgement…if you ask me I think they should offer a cheaper slabbing price than the others…😅
I think so too, the pricing is ok but is a hard sale. Cheaper would be better. The turn around time reasons don't matter much in my opinion I just want them at the promised time or faster and they did that. If cgc misses it's window and their excuse is "we're too busy" I don't really gaf I just want my books. Thanks for watching and commenting! 😁
Awesome! They're great to deal with from this experience. The second part of the review with the closer look at cases and labels will be up in exactly 1 week!
If that foam breaks, 9 out of 10 odds with USPS employees tossing these around like they do Gemini mailers, ( like a hickey puck ), the Slabs will arrive cracked. That foam holder needs a bendable hard cardboard that would brace and stop the foam from breaking. I believe EGS uses a third party company to insert the slabs, and ship them-I could have misunderstood that info. As of yet, I have not sent in any comics to be graded and slabbed, maybe you’ll be able to email / call and confirm one way or the other. Really like the EGS Overstreet Grading, with Graders notes on every single grade they issue. Thank you.
Ya the included notes are great. I believe the insert is a third party company, anyone can buy the inserts for their own mailing. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Only CBCS will have legs against CGC in the long run because it's under the Beckett umbrella. So it's two giants going against each other. CGC vs CBCS. CGC leads in comics while Beckett in cards. So it's pretty even stevens. Neck and neck. All these smaller grading companies are better off focusing on other markets. I once wrote to them - I think it might have even been EGS. Told them the world of collecting is not just limited to the US and Canada. Those two are CGC and CBCS strongholds so forget about it. Go branch out into Europe, branch out into Asia, go to Dubai, go to places where there's little to no CGC and CBCS presence but have a wealth of Marvel and DC collectors nonetheless. There you will have more success. It doesn't mean that they have to close their US and Canadian operations. But branch out.
They recieved my books on 11/28/22 Still waiting now 5 months later. Its crazy. I hope its worth the wait because ive sent off to other companies and had my books back in a couple of weeks. Im really disappointed.
Wow that sucks! Wasn't my experience at all. I saw somewhere they had an issue with a batch of cases that had to be thrown out and so they fell behind. But they should have communicated that
@Comics Rediscovered oh they told me about it after i ask, but still its been a new excuse every couple of months. They have a certain turn around time posted wich seems to mean nothing because they just change the time frame over and over. I hope they grade my books right and refund some money because it seems like you sent yours after me and got yours back way before me. Feels like there screwing me but ive invested too much time to back out now. I was trying to give them a chance but they really need to get it together or there not going to make it.
These videos I keep seeing about EGS over the last 8 or so months all feel like paid infomercials for the company , you mention nothing about price ?? Sorry just feels like that.
hey man thanks for the comment. Def not a paid advertisement, I sent these in on my own dollar. I have some critiques that will be more obvious in the next video, but honestly I only had good customer service from these guys. Thanks for watching and commenting
@@ComicsRediscovered sorry wasn’t trying to be snarky, I was just waiting for a price to value comparison and in all honesty a lot of the videos I’ve seen from other content creators recently on EGS have seemed a bit biased as the creator’s received free books . You seem pretty above board in your videos so I was just waiting on the review of the price .
If you like Comic unboxings check out this one here, I got so lucky and it blew my mind! 🤯: ua-cam.com/video/WclDgP-fEYA/v-deo.html

That's some nice books to trust anyone with!
@@ComicsRediscovered I no longer trust CGC.

If you are going to send to EGS might as well get a color printer and a gater guard and do it yourself.
:')
Why do you say that?

I'm really interested in starting to do this. I believe I'll go with EGS when I do.
Awesome!! Was looking forward to this one for a long time. I'm definitely going to be sending them a few books . 👍

@Comics Rediscovered very much looking forward to that! Great books btw!
What about PGX ?? I like them to .
PGX and EGS are closer than with cgc or cbcs
@@ComicsRediscovered I can get some nice golden age comics with PGX at lower cost.. because they sell for less then CGC comics..
I usually use pgx on raw books I get for Christmas and birthdays because I want to display and I never get rid of gifts.
do they add microchamber paper or anything else to help neutralize acid over time?
Good question, hopefully they weigh in here as that can be important on older books
No, We do not.

Does EGS clean comic books and press comic books. Did you have your comic books cleaned and press if so by who.?
Yes.. We clean and press books.
I cleaned and pressed my own books, I do before every submission no matter which company is grading. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Awesome vid, I’ve heard of them but never tried them
Thanks for watching and the comment. The second part of the full review will be next week! Hit the notification bell so you get to watch it
thanks for an unbiased review.
Thanks for watching and commenting. I try to be as fair as I can

Good video. Made me decide to stick with CGC. Thx

Looks good. Great vid, bud. Looks like an interesting choice, but I think I’ll stick to the big two for a while
Thanks for watching!
recently the turn around time is pretty fast with cgc so the only defference is the price
Cgc seems to be doing a lot of work to get their outrageous TATs of previous years under control
Looks good if do it with modern books if the price is right
Great video buddy!
Thanks!
Do they do magazine size comics?
No I don't think they currently do magazine size.
@egscomics?
I just subscribed
much appreciated!
So is it just the owner still grading the books?
Yes.. I grade all the books.
@@tonytrombetta2562 thanks so much! I look forward to submitting some books!!
Always has been a conflict of interest for the owner to do the grading
If you plan on flipping a EGS slab you've definitely wasted your time and money. It would have been better spent investing in CGC.
Thanks for the comment, but that wasn't why I tried them out. It was to test them out, not everything is about flipping comics if you're a collector
There are three companies not two.
Well if we're being pedantic, then there is a handful. However there is only two that invite comparison for quality and wide acceptance
Are they even a business anymore?

Price is in line with cbcs. I paid $35 per book egs, and cbcs is $31-34. It's not great but it's not horrible either, the turn around was spot on.
$35/book you did the expedited? What was your turn around?
@@BS-ib2ch exactly what they said it would be. About a month door to door
