  • Time to test my personal jewel in my DF-02 collection 2023: My brushless and hopped-up Tamiya Aero Avante, a restored Rising Storm from the winter projects. Love it or hate it. Well, I love it, partly because I have zero "Avante Orthodox" feelings, but I think it needs some RPM or gear ratio adjustments. Definitely slower than the tractors in this video and almost the same top speed as the stock set-up.
This video was shot in the summer, a couple of months ago.

What is the kv of the brushless motor? Should have been faster the brushless motor and what are they all doing around you with those big tractors?

Hi Brad! I have not investigated what the KV is but it’s a 13.5T, so probably just above 3000 kv? Coupled with the gearing (just below 1:10) that would explain the low top speed. But yes, I was surprised too. So surprised, especially since my last DF-02 in the last video was faster with a 12T motor, that I re-calibrated the ESC and tried again. But the same speed. So I will have to gear it up or try another motor, since, yeah, it’s about the same speed as with the 27T silver can 😅 Uhh, yeah, harvest time in August it was … lot’s of tractors out here. Quite exiting for my youngest son. Better than the thousands of cars in the City we left 😊

Ouyeah, gotta love harvest season in Danish countryside, tractors and mejertärksers everywhere, ha ha!
It's been a joy watching your series on this old buggy chassis, Mikael, I guess you must be pretty familiar with it by now. What's next, TT-02B, or just something completely different? Happy to see you are still at it, making lovely videos, my friend, despite busy work life and family responsibilities and stuff. All the best, buddy!

Hi Mads! Thanks again for the outstanding support! Yeah, this was my first Tamiya 4WD and only my second Tamiya buggy. And I’ve had about 6-8 of them by now. Many of them second hand and restored and reassembled and re-specified endlessly. So yeah, together with the WT-01 and DT-02 I can assemble these ones in my sleep probably 😅 There’s something so quite fascinating about the ones you know so deeply. So familiar. Creates calmness in your mind.
Uhh, yeah, August was Danish harvest time. My youngest son loves it 😅

I recently got one of these to build. Personally I like the looks of it and I am looking forward to building it! Yours looks fantastic and run really well too!

Hi bro! Yeah, it’s a fascinating entry-level buggy. But don’t jump it too high - so fragile ☺️ Thanks for watching my brother

Who left those tractors in the way?!?!?! Beautiful DF02 my friend, like you I'm not offended by the use of the Avante name, it just looks so cool all the same! I was underwhelmed by the top speed from that brushless setup, though! Looks peppy enough on the grass. Wow, your kids are growing up fast! Best wishes, Mikael! 😎👌👍

Godaften Mark! Uhh yeah, not sure why they would park their tractors in the middle of my RC runway 😅 Yeah, I was underwhelmed too! So much I re-calibrated the ESC just to make sure. But yes, this 13.5T motor runs a lot slower than the previous 12T. So will have to gear it up or something. But yes, runs quite good on grass where it really needs the torque. Yeah, even the little one is beginnibg to speak now. One of his favorite words is ‘bil’ (‘car’) and he is fascinated with tractors and cars. So maybe I will have my future RC companion in him ☺️

Ha ha, yeah, even the tractors in the video can outrun this one 😅
