TLM 102 is not same leagues of U87, also technically differs a lot being a transformerless design and different capsule.
A good contender for U87 in cardioid mode can be the Gefell M930ts which is half price of a U87. Gefell offers just cardioid without any other option like the U87 (low cut, pad and polar patterns).
