OMG, I'd searched for this quite awhile but had no idea Al DeLory did this version, but I remember pressing my transistor radio to my ear so I could lusten to tunes in bed lol! Quintissential feel of the early 70s. I've always loved the swing and free feel of this arrangement. Finding it at last, it simply made my day!!
This was released to compete with the original recording (from the movie soundtrack) by a studio vocal group billed as "The Mash" which was issued on Columbia. That version did not chart here, but 10 years later in 1980, it made #1 on the UK charts (BMRB, NME, MM).
Tendrá 50años q no escuchaba esta interpretación. Allá en los 70s era parte de la programación de radio 6.20. ",la música q Yego para quedarse ". Q recuerdos!
Al de Lory was a member of the Wrecking Crew who also produced and/or arranged Glen Campbell‘s great Jimmy Webb-penned hits (Wichita Lineman, By The Time…Phoenix, Galveston).

Remember hearing that engaging piano riff as a kid in the 1970s on radio station KQUE.

A really good arrangement.
A guy on Australian radio David Gubay plays this everyday, love it.
Súper recuerdo pentrexil
The bossa rhythm fits nicely with this song

So I'm guessing this specific copy you have scanned here is from at least 1972 then, instead of the original from 1970?
This single was released in 1970 - the label fonts look like a Scranton pressing.
Is this the same version I heard on the radio in 1970?
Probably. It spent 15 weeks on the adult-contemporary radio airplay chart, peaking at #7.
Nice elevator music tho
