Just one thing to make clear while monsters are a thing in the witcher universe, there are not that many 9f them, and towns usually have walls and multiple guards and probably one or two mages just around so it's usually not a huge problem. Small vilages and countryside they are more common but still not as common as you might think, the witcher games makes it feel like there are just monsters roaming around everywhere, when in reality its not really like that and it's there more for gameplay reasons.
"Płotka" is the Polish term for a female horse, and it's also an informal version of the word "płoć," which literally translates to “roach” or “roachy.” Geralt is known for favoring mares over stallions, therefore, the monster hunter's preference ties his steed's name to Polish terminology.
That's not it, the reason he names his mares "Roach" or "Płotka" is due to the fact that plotki are a common type of fish living in shallow waters. In essence, he names his horses "Shallow" because he doesn't want to give them a proper name just so he doesn't attach and go through emotional trauma.

It has nothing to do with the cockroach, and nothing directly to do with the either the French given name "Roche" or the character Vernon Roche. Though the English term for the fish ("roach") does in fact share its origin with "Roche": both terms come from the French word for "rock".
It's worth noting that the original name for the horse in Polish is "Płotka", a diminutive form of the word "Płoć" (meaning "roach"). Diminutives are endearing in Polish, so a more direct translation would have been something along the lines of "Roachy" or "Roachie".
Moreover, the Polish word is female gendered which corresponds with Geralt's preference for mares - it would be odd for a stallion to be called "Płotka". The tender tone as well as the gender of the name is lost in the translation.
However, "Płotka" has another meaning which is "small fry". In the Polish version of the third game, this is brought up during Broken Flowers if Geralt beats Morvran Voorhis in a race, who will praise him by saying "Impressive rider skills from someone for whom every horse is a small fry." In this meaning the name becomes gender neutral, thus can be used for a stallion as well." It would appear that we are both correct.

So I shared the explanations that they gave and thought it would be interesting for Roshi to see. I apologize if I insulted you in some way. When you made your comment about the fish I thought it was odd so I chose to look it up further and see why that would be and found the previously listed couple paragraphs that mentioned that you are correct about the fish but that it is also an interesting word play for a maire, and thought that it would be interesting to share that as well. I don't think the show explains it but yes the black eyes thing is to do with the toxicity of his potions, the more potions/the stronger the potion the more toxicity builds up, he can't drink too much of it or it could kill him
if a scene has Ciri, then it's the present, if it's geralt then it's flashback, the only episode wherein both are in present is the last episode.

But then again its open world game. Its really long, I finished it with both dlc after 150+ hours

The Witcher is great, but yall should check out Trollhunters on Netflix. Their are 3 different shows and a movie. Watch 3below 2nd and Wizards 3rd. Watch the movie last. It will appear kind of kiddy at first but it is totally worth the watch.

I don’t necessarily think he left it for that guy(though i dont know), probably passed on it so it could be used on someone else, like a child. I did wonder if we were going to see that guy again at some point, dont think we saw him die and he seems like a badass.
I thought he refused bc the poisons are for the women and children but the men have to find another way to off themselves. It’s medieval times so that’s what I thought

The Witcher Wild Hunt is one of the most viewed gameplay on yt from my knowledge. It's an epic adventure, story driven and probably the only game where you don't actually want to miss the secondary quests. Worth giving a try. You're proly going to love it!

I actually didn’t watch it before starting season 2 and I regretted it cause I would’ve understood certain names and personalities better

So this show is messing around with 3 timelines pretty much, Yennefer's, which is if i can recall 60 something years in the past, Geralt's timeline, which is 15ish years in the past, and then there's Ciri's timeline, which is considered the present. So you can basically tell by the characters in what timeline you are currently in. That's the easiest way to understand this uhh, interesting pacing of the show.

@@NikKliaf I mean I don't really care, it's true that there are many clues, but the "oh these are the different timelines" it's kinda a surprise. Even knowing there are timelines, they didn't understand who was when, it's clearly a major narrative trick to keep the viewers on their seats.

@@JacopoBasanisi Ironically it's people warning them about the confusion about different timelines that led them to believe ciri=renfri. People should just stfu and let people react to these shows authentically instead of trying to guide the reaction to their personal preference.

For the timeline (without spoilers) just to help y’all kinda keep track of what’s what, each main character is on their own timeline until they meet each other. So, Geralt is one timeline, Ciri is another timeline, and someone else you’ll meet later is another timeline. That shit never really gets clear until like the end of the damn season 😂

Never understood why people had such a issue with the different timelines, I thought it was great.
It’s mainly people Who don’t pay too much attention that complain lol. I admit it can be a bit difficult to tell sometimes, but if you really pay attention you can see it easily lol
I can't remember another show that has had time skips that were so confusing! It's almost as if the writers did that intentionally to play with the viewers mind!

There was literally no reason for it and it should have just been a linear story. The world building in the show just has been terrible and writing was meh.

The witcher does not take place on Earth or a alt earth. The land is generally called the Continent. Humans like most of the monsters in this show came to this land during the Conjunction of the spheres. Basically portals opened all over reality and creaturers from other worlds and dimensions arrived on the continent. Humans came from a dying earth...
So is the witcher "world" only the size of a continent?
@@michaelnieva9870 The Continent is made up of different regions but there are other places that may or may not be on the Continent like this nation called Ofir (which is heavily Eastern/Middle Eastern looking people) which can only be reached by going across the seas. We don't really know. All we know is the story that takes place on the Continent.

If you are going to watch it fully blind then you are going to feel some confusion in S1 but it's worth it.

It sucks the person spoiled the fact that some scenes were flashbacks. Discovering that was part of the charm of the show.

The Netflix Witcher show doesn't follow the books that much so its mostly just the Witcher in name. But the show is decent and season 1 is watchable because of how much Henry Cavill carries the show.
whoever told you about the flashbacks really fucked--up, first it's not, it's character arcs in different timelines and second you need to figure it out yourselves
The games and books are far better imo, this show just goes downhill especially in season 2. Tis a shame i dont think the showrunners understood the source material. Henry cavill knew the most on set.

Second: In this episode you’ll understand why Geralt killed Renfri, he saw himself in her and understood that she would never, ever stop killing
Third: This is an important part in Geralt’s story because this is the moment he got the moniker: the Butcher of Blaviken
And forth: you’ll understand as it goes along, but this episodes aren’t completely in order, just to help you ease the questions
He also learned to make a choice and not just stand back, because it makes things worse moving forward if you don't.
