Wow, what a great first flight / test flight! It's great that your only issues were GoPro issues! 😂😂😂 I prefer that camera view, I like to see the pilots eye view! 🙂
Long time ago , I bought a Sterling U Control Great Lakes biplane at a Los Angeles hobby shop. I was a DC 8 71 Captain , we stayed at Double Tree Hotel for four days. I used to walk to Manhattan Beach Pier or Marina del Rey . Also went to Chino Airport and Hawthorne Airport. Lovely times ! I remember Sade was on every radio station and got addicted to : " The Wave " 94.7 radio.
@@ronrogers It's been too long since I've flown. I'll be flying a Citabria next week to get back in the swing, then into the T-6. So, I hope to be ready.
I enjoy your videos. If you would have shown a few more minutes I would have made it in it, we were standing by the taxiway as you turned in by your hangar.
There should be no ripple. Once the dope is applied and the fabric tightened, it is good for the life of the fabric, which is about 30-40 years depending upon sun exposure etc.
So, your camera seems not to be hard mounted to the airplane. Small bank angles without significant g-loading show dipping of the wings back and forth, but the horizon remains basically level like the camera is on a pendulum. However, when you go into a sustained turn the horizon also moves. If the camera were hard mounted, the orientation of the plane on the screen would never change and the horizon would always move. What's the setup?
Beautiful bird, Ron! Glad she’s back in the nest!
Me too!
What a beautiful aircraft. Thanks for such frequent vids, look forward to every one
Glad you like them!
Glad you got it back. I look forward to see some aerobatics, Ron.
You and me both!
Looked like a great functional check flight. Glad you got her back 👍🏻 It’s gonna be a summer of full on aerobatics. Enjoy Sir.
Can't wait!
I read somewhere that platinum blonde hair is a crown of glory there Ron.
I’m happy for you that N727KR flies again. With improved rigging no less!

Thanks 👍 I was going to change the view but I will keep it the same on the flight I plan later today. Had to fix some camera settings.
Glad to see you back in the air.
Nice flight, I enjoyed it.
Glad you enjoyed it
It’s like watching Indiana Jones in Raiders or The Last Crusade flying in those bi-planes!

I like the camera view. Of course an IMAX setup would be better. 😀 I enjoyed the relo
Thanks 👍
15 kts crosswind in a 7ECA - full rudder deflection on 3 point touchdown. Your Great Lakes looks fantastic.
Thanks!
Glad you have your GL back home. Now if would just finish mine.
When do you expect to get yours?
@@ronrogers They promised beginning of July, we'll see. I have my medical back and I'm ready to go.
Yes mine kept slipping. About a month or more late after first promised.

Oh that is funny! You should have many more opportunities!
I would love to go for a flight in that thing
Ron, do you wear a parachute when you’re flying in the Great Lakes?
When I’m do aerobatics
Early in WW1, it wasn’t considered manly / it indicated a lack of courage for RFC pilots to use a parachute.
So they lost pilots.
How much “ripple” is acceptable on a skin aircraft? Does the fabric require some sort of tensioning from time to time?
There should be no ripple. Once the dope is applied and the fabric tightened, it is good for the life of the fabric, which is about 30-40 years depending upon sun exposure etc.
@@ronrogers It looked like there was rippling on the bottom of the upper wing after you took off. That’s why I asked.
I think that probably just reflections. I have never seen any ripping.
Ron, if you have the video, just upload it. Why let it go to waste.
Being it’s an open cockpit test flight did you wear a parachute? 😄
No. Only when I fly aerobatics

The GoPro auto level was accidentally turned on. I usually have it off to avoid this.
@ronrogers However it was configured, I think the effect was more appealing. I was just wondering how it was achieved. Beautiful airplane.
