- Homemade 10 ft Tunnel Hull Hydroplane on Lake Muskoka in Ontario. Boat was built with plans bought from Glen L. Has a 25hp Yamaha outboard and goes about 36 MPH.
im in gravenhurst and always see a little tunnel boat running around on the lake i wonder if that's you
Great sounding ride. Can you share if your motor, the 25 Yamaha is stock? Lower unit and prop all stock? Deadman throttle or standard? We have a 20hp Yamaha lined up. 36mph is decent. We are rebuilding the same boat from the 70s. Summer 2024
Yes, mine does the same thing. It feels like at that speed the tunnel isn't out of the water enough and it just wants to go straight.
My grandpa built me one of these. I live right on the Columbia river and can go drive it a lot.
Nice. Would be good to see the boat though!! Listening to your engine, I'm thinking you could gain a good deal of top end with a different pitched prop. Or, maybe a yamato 302.
I'm not sure what the weight of the boat is. It's pretty heavy though so we always use a trailer. Sorry I don't have a better answer for you.
I built one of these too. See the you tube video "tunnel mite".
Tell me; when you go 1/2 speed or so, does the thing surprise you by pulling to one side or another? Wondering how common this is...
If you don't mind do you know the weight of the vessel without motor.
Thanks
