Skagen should really explain this process in a video or at least photos. At the very least they should have a little diagram telling the names of the parts. I struggled with the text explanation and couldn't get it. Your video explained everything perfectly. Thank you!
Thank you so much. I was given a Skagen watch for a birthday gift four years ago but have not worn it because I could not work out how to adjust the band. Brilliant video. Much appreciated
This video saved the day for me to help adjust my new Skagen band. I am not sure if your business is temporarily closed but I can tell you were very knowledgeable, happy to help people, including me in the US. I wish you all the best. Thank you.
Thank u!!! Great close ups and very clear explanation--better than Skagen's video. I wondered about adjustments before ordering a mesh band--now I will!! Thank u!!!
i logged in specially just to say thank you so much! i just got this watch and the jeweller was talking of cutting things! thank you. may the universe help you too!
Thanks a lot I somehow knew how to unlock but fixing it back was an issue for a new watch I just bought I thought I had voided the warranty as well and spoilt. It I'm glad this tutorial helped me fix it,, thank you
Hello, my mesh watch isn't a Skagen one but it has this similar mesh band mechanism. I've run into the situation where I've either broken the the inner plate (not the safety clip) that looks like an "H". I'm basically left with 2 plates & the clasp with the two horizontal bars. So I guess my question is whether or not my mesh clasp is broken and if I can somehow put it back together. I tried watching your tutorial several times and then working backwards but I can't seem to fit the 2 plates back together. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance
+D2IY I really need to see the clasp to have any idea of what may have happened. Can you send me some photos of the clasp on its own, to info@asquithsjewellers.co.uk please. I need them to be fairly high-resolution, and most importantly I need them to be in focus. Alternatively, I'd suggest bringing your watch into one of our shops if you're nearby, or simply take it back to your local stockist and ask them to take a look. Ed
Thank your for this beneficial instructional video. Big help. But, the correct pronunciation for the brand of watch is "skein". It is an artist town in Denmark.
+Anthony Goetgeluck Yes, it's possible to fit a nato strap on some models. It's something I've never tested before. It would need to be a design with a spring bar holding the strap on - this watch in this video uses screws. Also, those mesh bands that use spring bars have a small gap between the bar and the case, so the new strap would need to be quite thin. if you want to pursue this further, visit a stockist with your preferred strap and have a look at the models available.
Hi Jacelynn, sounds like you must have very small wrists! Some models have replacement straps in a selection of lengths. I recommend getting in touch with the company who you bought it from & asking them to find out what lengths are available for you. They will need the model number which ought to be on your receipt, and it will also be on the case back. Ed
+autumnlove89, I think she must have taken it off and turned it round. Just check that the clasp is oriented the same way as in the video. Check the bit about taking the clasp off & putting it back on from 1:00 to 2:00
+Asquiths Jewellers hi there, thanks for the reply! My problem is that the watch is still too loose for my wrist even at the smallest groove tho, how will reversing it help? Kindly explain, and thanks in advance!!
If you cut through the strap it will leave frayed metal which is not especially safe... I don't recommend it. If you're dead set on shortening it then something like a dremel will work.
WILL NEVER BUY A SKAGEN MESH watch AGAIN. Mickey-mouse made.... I've got 2 that were bought around the same time- one has FALLEN off more than once -thank goodness the face hasn't cracked- because the clasp is so flimsy- and the second one barely closes. 6 months into one, and I'm sending it for repairs that I have a pay for because the cheap crown has knocked off. Don't sell these watches for Two Hundred Canadian if I can get a better functioning one at WAL-MART. I was fooled twice- what a twit I am.
It sounds like you've had some awful luck with Skagen, and I'm sorry to hear that. Several of our staff members have owned Skagens for a few years, and they have all run without incident. If there's a manufacturing problem, I would have thought your local Jeweller / watch supplier would have helped you get it sorted at no charge.

Thank you so much, it saved me at least twenty buck if I let it done by a shop in the mall :}
Wow, that's expensive! Glad it helped.
can u take off the whole mesh band? and add a nato strap on a skagen watch? or is that impossible?
