How GD Players Acquired 1,153 Stars in 5 Minutes

I have very briefly covered this story before but nowhere near in-depth enough to actually consider the full details of this intricate story. Despite being such a brief event, it actually has a lot of strange and interesting aspects surrounding it, some of which will never be revealed. Hope you enjoy listening to this surprisingly cryptic story.
There are two massive video projects in the works which will probably require me to upload once a month again to actually ensure they get finished in time. My videos are simply too grand in scale to keep up with consistently uploading and I refuse to enter the UA-cam mindset that they encourage; uploading frequently for good results. So I am taking my time with this as always to produce good quality. As always, be ready for things that have never been done on the GD UA-cam platform before.

one of the most interesting GD stories i've heard, from the tiny chance of this weird bug happening to random users in the past, to the crazy simple way the game's security was breached, really happy that this story is finally out there, this was super fun to work on! :D

Ever since 2016 when I saw SEA1997s video on the hell series I've always been intrigued by mysterious events that occurred in the past of this game, so please continue to keep doing videos exactly like this
I love how you get into the more technical stuff and explain how exactly some things worked. I don't know much about programming, or that stuff in general but I'm 100% sure that there's someone out here who appreciates it. Not many youtubers do this.

UDID is actually not collected when the game is opened. It is only collected when a user does something write-related on the server, such as updating stats, uploading levels, and making comments.
It is saved into the save file on first launch and this is the step that had to break to get this effect
@@Cvolton Ah, that makes sense. I just knew that the server itself never receives the udid until it has to make a player-related change to the database.

Hackers today are cheating levels for clout on the demonlist. Hackers back then...... "Ehhhh, I'll just fuck around."
Yeah, I get that part of the hacker's motive was to call Robtop out on poor server side security, but other than that the hacker just screwed around and not much else.
This is one of those scandals that you can look back on and have a good chuckle at the rather odd behavior of a hacker. Because other than trying to point out a security issue, it was pointless.
Yeah hacking scandals like this are damaging no doubt, but it's always fun to look back on these things

I remember this incident i think I beat 1 or 2 of these 127 star tiny demons before stats didnt work for a while and then the day after i didnt have the stars anymore

Oh that's interesting, I never knew that a UDID Is random. Propably the funny part, well for me at least, is one of the levels having a *penis* which is strange but funny for me for some reason. I also was 4 or 3 when this happened so I wasn't playing the game at that time but started playing in early 2.1 so 2017 when I was 6 or 7, I'm 12 now And knowing all of this makes me wonder, Was Robtop really that bad with server security?
rob's security only really started taking off in 2.0, before then there was basically no authentication and even in 1.9 you could basically log into anyone's account if you knew how (do note that these exploits have been patched on the 1.9 gdps if you want to try them there lol)
@@Cvolton yea. I wouldn't try that because I'm not a *bad* person, I actually did not think someone like you would comment on my side lol. I'm guessing robtop didn't really know how to protect the servers because of the PHP format until 2.0 but we will never know for sure.

Well, UDID's are unique. But the (bugged) copy of the UDID which GD stores may not always be.
