I think the foreshadowing of Edward and Gordon connects well with this story because he explains you can’t have it forever which explains that he will be replaced by something permanent also something that will meet timetables faster than any old engine like Edward and earnest (aka Gordon) not to mention it’s the same with pip and Emma when Gordon retires
As soon as the new 4-4-0 express engines were mentioned in the last installment, I had a feeling that Earnest's replacement was going to be Edward. And now Earnest's parting words have foreshadowed the later arrival of Gordon... very clever writing!
Woah, that was quite a cold, but tense ending. I wasn't expecting that. I guess Earnest learnt his lesson the hard way. But I do hope he can make amends and put things right soon.
Poor Ernest, indeed this was during a time where railways improve and so do the advancement of Express engines being made bigger, faster and stronger throughout the different decades and years.
That was amazing even though we ended this part on a forlorn and worrying note since we all knew what happened next regarding the Railway Series involving Edward. It's also incredible to learn how Edward came to be the express engine at the time and how he first came to Sodor in his youth. It's incredible to discover that he was far different from the sagely engine we know him as and how vulnerable he felt after learning that not everything lasts forever despite his worth as a really useful engine and his friendly character. But, honestly, while I do like Earnest, what he did in response to his coming to the island, he ended up becoming an ass towards Edward based on what we found out from his perspective and what he foolishly did to hold on (in vain) to what he loved doing most despite his issues revealed in the previous part as the railway changed with time. In this case, the hard lesson of how pride comes before a fall has never rung truer for anybody and that's what happened to Earnest and what he did in his bloated ego and wounded pride despite his sympathetic plights. This is an incredible mini-saga we're all dealing with and I'm hoping it'll go out with a bang regarding what happens in the final part and what ultimately happened to Earnest and if he and Edward would somehow meet again and put the unintentional strife between the pair behind them and become good friends. I love it!
Very nice story! It’s a shame that Earnest let his ego get the best of him but at least he admitted his faults. Also very nice to include Edward in this! I imagine that he arranges to have Earnest’s portrait done.
Now I'm not going to lie, that ending feels rather ominous, and I like it! Great part 3 Narrow, can't wait to see how the fourth part of this saga will unfold given the fate of Earnest here!
To me Earnest made a complete fool out of himself and not only he refused help, he damaged himself in the process making the railway board decision to withdraw him from service. His beef with Edward was unwarranted (while i understand he didn't want to lose his job as a premier express engine), it was no excuse to be a complete ass to Edward. He did it to himself.
Well from what I’ve seen on the Kiefer Adams story, Earnest was now living at the museum and he runs a small demonstration line and in Thomas in trouble, there was a portrait of Earnest in the fat controller’s mansion, that was somehow a good thing wasn’t it
I thought the engine who would outshine Earnest would be either Whiff, Taylor or Joseph from Fan of Hiro's tales, not only because they've got four driving wheels each but also because they were Sodor and Mainland engines and the latter shares a name with you, Narrow Gauge
Loved the story but just a little nitpick is You said four smaller trailing wheels, but the term would be leading or pilot wheels. Trailing wheels are when the unpowered wheels are behind the driving wheels. Like an 0-4-4 has 4 trailing wheels a 4-4-0 has four leading wheels
Edward definitely offers a nice paradox for Earnest. The kind soul is the biggest threat to the main character. Very well done.
Are you saying Edward was a wolf in sheep's clothing, so to speak?
@@evanclarke5561 not exactly. You could look at it that way but Edward is only the villain in Earnest’s mind, nobody else.

Nice inclusion of Edward in this story. I love the Earnest Saga since the start, and I hope it ends well!

6:32-6:38 What a roast! XD
Kind of a sad story, in a way
Splendid video
I like these audio series about Earnest. I don't know what's gonna happen to him in Part 4, but still.
#saveearnest

6:03 I heard that from those videos about If Characters Were Charged For Their Crimes.
Its good! Very well done!

Better withdrawn than scrapped.
Technically Edward did never receive his fate(Yes he lost the express but was and never will be scrapped)so....never
I think it's more him being retired from the express than being scrapped.
Yes but then Henry who replaced Edward got replaced by Tyler, Reginald and Gordon on the express who eventually got replaced by Pip and Emma
Uh-oh... Looks like it's the end of the line for Earnest...😧

Is there gonna be a part 4?
It did said "to be concluded" at the end, so yes. There will be a part four.
Who's the banker engine?
I don't know dude. After all Narrow Gauge didn't reveal her name in the story. And also have you seen Fan of Hiro's videos recently?
@@evanclarke5561 no, why?
@@jamesthomas5109 just wondering
I wonder if Earnest ever met engines like Bloomer, Neil, Stephen or Glynn?
@narrowgauge9717
Can I ask what locomotives Lilly and Liam are based on?
@narrowgauge9717
I think they're Coffee Pots
They are glynns siblings. I hope we see Glynn in Part 4.
