I went back and watched an interview where he was claiming he's not any better than anyone else, blah blah blah. He ONLY accepted responsibility because he was forced to. He was genuinely shocked that they were going to arrest him. Not only that, but he was forced to admit what he did, and he DID try to cover it up. He refused to allow the city to release the body cam video to the media until he had no choice there, either. He was only humble because he was forced into it by the officers doing their jobs. His orders didn't work on them and when he was apologizing to the media, he apologized to his family, his staff, and the voters. HE FORGOT TO APOLOGIZE TO THE OFFICERS from that night. Ordering them around like sled dogs, demanding names, intimidating them. He apologized to all the wrong people! Silly old POS.

His mother-in-law seemed pretty down to earth and even-tempered and polite when she was getting settled into the backseat cage of the officers vehicle in order to be driven home. The officer had been apologizing that it wasn’t going to be comfortable and implying it could feel a little jarring for her to be there versus a regular seat like up front. But when she was getting in, she was like, “Oh I’m just happy to be going home,” and “well it’s not supposed to be cushy, is it?” and stuff like that.
