  • Join me on a walking tour of Castellfollit de la Roca, Spain. This truly spectacular medieval town is dramatically perched on a kilometre-long cliff.
This video has two parts. I start with a walk at the bottom of the cliff, which shows the town's dramatic position. Then, I video the old town from the top of the cliff, wandering through the ancient cobbled streets amongst the medieval buildings.
We also see dramatic views over the surrounding countryside from several positions around the town.

Castellfollit de la Roca is a small municipality in Girona, Catalonia, Spain. It is situated in the comarca of Garrotxa, a region known for its natural beauty and volcanic landscapes.
The village is perched dramatically on the edge of a basalt cliff formed by the convergence of the Fluvia and Toronell rivers, creating a striking geological feature that defines the area's landscape.
The basalt cliff on which the village stands is about 50 meters high and nearly a kilometre long, providing breathtaking views of the surrounding countryside. The unique position of the village on this cliff has made it a point of interest for visitors and photographers.
The village's historic center is characterized by narrow, cobbled streets and traditional stone houses, some dating back to the Middle Ages. The Church of Sant Salvador, built in the 13th century and later reconstructed in the 18th century, is a notable landmark in the village.
Its location on the cliff edge adds to its picturesque quality. The village also features a small museum that offers insights into the area's history and geology.
One of Castellfollit de la Roca's main attractions is its scenic beauty. The panoramic views from the cliff are particularly impressive, offering vistas of the lush Garrotxa Volcanic Zone Natural Park.
