As much as I wanted Sheamus to finish his quest to finally hold the IC title, it just makes so much sense too that they went with Gunther retaining and ultimately becoming the longest reigning champion.
@@soulessshadow5356 Agreed. It immediately establishes Gunther as a main event player and it will keep him in the history books for a very very long time.
The WM 20 Triple Threat is my favorite WM main event of all time. While the buildup overshadowed Benoit at some points the match was fantastic that had great workrate and a compelling story and that moment with Eddie in the end was awesome. Unfortunately it hasnt aged well due to Benoits immoral act
Yes, it will always be marred because of the actions of Chris Benoit. But taking my personal feelings about him out of it, it’s still one of the best examples on how to do a triple threat match. This is one of the examples that wrestler should study on how to do this style of match, regardless of how they feel about one of the participants.
Big Show was in the form of his life around 2003. His heel turn the previous year led to the best run of his career, with entertaining feuds with Eddie and Cena to come. Might be the most underrated run in wwe history, he was very definitely at his best.
Undertaker vs Angle vs Rock is one of my favorite early wrestling fan memories. I was just starting to watch around when the build was starting and the match is just excellent.

Very happy to see the Rock/Taker/Angle match here. That was my first live PPV I attended and have fond memories of it. Nice to know that even if I take off the rose tinted glasses that the match still is one of the greats.

Here's Another Honorable Mention That Fans Don't Remember Because It Seems to Be Forgotten: Brock Lesnar Vs Dean Ambrose Vs Roman Reigns At Fastlane 2016. It's An Underrated Triple Threat Match That Doesn't Get Talked about Enough Because It Was So Forgotten On A C Level Show Like Fastlane.
In terms of the Fastlane PPV/PLE over the years, though Fastlane had good matches, it's very much slept on & treated like a bathroom break at a NFL football game halftime show due to Fastlane being the last PPV/PLE before Wrestlemania. I think when people think of Fastlane, they think of the WWE Championship Number 1 Contender's match between Daniel Bryan & Roman Reigns at Fastlane 2015; WWE Championship Number 1 Contender's Triple Threat Match between Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose & Brock Lesnar; maybe even the WWE Championship Triple Threat Match between Mustafa Ali, Kevin Owens & defending WWE Champion, "The New" Daniel Bryan at Fastlane 2019(Shout out to Fastlane 2019 for featuring The Shield(Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins & Roman Reigns)'s Last Stand, which was their final match as a group against "Constable" Baron Corbin, Bobby Lashley(the early days of Lashley being referred to as the "All Mighty") & Drew McIntyre).
CM Punk vs The Miz vs Alberto Del Rio triple threat TLC match for the WWE Championship in 2011 deserved an honorable mention. Criminally underrated match
Great list! An underrated triple threat that I enjoyed was the Intercontinental Triple Threat Match between Shelton Benjamin, Chris Jericho, and Christian on the Raw after WrestleMania 21 in 2005. Had they just gotten a few more minutes, that easily could have become a PPV worthy classic. They had great chemistry! Also, I loved the WrestleMania Number One Contender Triple Threat between Triple H, Big Show, and RVD from Raw in February, 2006. Exciting match that led to the first HHH vs. Cena feud!
Wow! Not even an honorable mention to Kurt Angle versus Chris Benoit versus Chris Jericho for the Intercontinental & European Championships at WrestleMania 2000???
WM 20 might be favorite experience watching it in a crowded bar and yelling tap while HHH was in that cross face…but time had tarnished that memory. I want to fight recency bias, but it is hard to go against Gunther/Drew/Sheamus…one of the most brutal and impressive matches…and no weapons, no interference…just three men’s men trying to impose their wills on each other
The Rock 1:05 Undertaker vs. Kurt Angle, hands down the best of Triple Threat Sports Entertainment, WWE had to offer in 2003 ❤. Mad surprised this has become a bit of a forgotten classic
Summerslam 2000 might be my favourite ppv of all time. So many great matches on that card. The potentially disastrous main event being saved by Kurt Angle after he was concussed. Honorable mention to Stephanie who walked Kurt through the finish while he was out of it.
Regardless of what I think of Chris Benoit, that triple threat match from wrestlemania 20 is still one of the greatest matches ever. And one of the best examples of how to do a triple threat match. Three super workers at their absolute best! There wasn’t a lot of guys just laying around half the time (most the time when a guy got taken out he had a reason for not getting into the match right away and usually it was a competitor using strategy). There was a bit of everything in it too! Great technical wrestling, story driven wrestling, comedy with Angle being pissy about them not paying him any attention at the start and how he kept getting beat up on whenever he tried getting in at the start, there was sports entertainment/gimmicky spots with them all doing each other’s finishers which was absolute mayhem and so good, the drama with the constant last second pin breaks! It has it all!! And all three were top of their game!!
I might be wrong with this, but I remember either 2020 or 2021 being a weirdly great year for triple threat matches (of normal and tag variety)- obviously it's hard to go back to that era of wrestling, but Reigns/Edge/Bryan from WrestleMania 37 Night 2 and MSK/GYV/Legado Del Fantasma (NXT Stand and Deliver) were fantastic to watch.
