just started learning this spring... and it’s so true about getting tight w your board. i was getting frustrated w myself and had a lil talk w my board that day, like yo, you n i are gonna be one, one day... she heard me :) been an awesome 6months since. lookin forward to what else you got commin for us!
Hey man, so I'm 47 and bought my 1st longboard 2 weeks ago. In 2 days I'm doing a 10 hour cruise for charity. I think I'll most likely spend most of my time on my arse but that's ok. I just wanted to say that your beginner tutorials have helped massively. Thanks bro.
For the stance...I like the people to play "Heaven and Hell' do you know the game? So the leg you start to jump with is the one that stays on the board and the other one is your pushing leg. Aaannddd if you are regular on the snowboard, you will be goofey on the skateboard.
There are several 15 minute video's that I watched, but this was the best one, and it doesn't even come in the search results man. Really grateful I found this video.
I hope you still read comments, especially to videos this old. I'm learning how to ride right now and your video was a lot of help, bit what REALLY spoke to me was the spirit connection, board-feeling part. It just took me back to when I was a teen, my dad was teaching me to drive a manual-transmission car, and I was having a really hard time understanding how to get the car moving, and everyone had their own dumb advice for how to do it and it didn't work. Then my dad just sat down with me in the car, and he said "Just feel the car. Feel when it's starting to stall out, just sit down, close your eyes and listen to it" and we sat quietly and felt the car and it's hard to explain but that's absolutely a real deal, dude. Idk, it's like 3 am but that spoke to me and took me back to a simpler time. Thanks for the video
Ive had my longboard for a week now i think (atom drop through) and i regret not looking at tutorials when i started bc it ended up frustrating me or me getting hurt, but after these videos really helped me improve and enjoy a lees stressful cruise
I use to skate alot when I was younger on a normal board. 31 now and just bought a longboard to get into a healthy hobby that gets me outside again thanka for the short video. Hopefully not to old/broken to learn 😂
Just bought my first longboard at 57yrs old. I love to cross country cycle so I’m always looking for a new adventure. Gonna make it electric too, because HEY, the way the world is going, I might as well live life to the fullest! ✌️🌍✌️
late late late to the party, but I've been trying to learn the longboard over covid quarantine season and this is the most helpful, good-vibey, understanding pointer video I've seen yet, especially the breaking process (which I'm still trying to work on haha). thank you for the time and effort you put into this!
Have never heard anyone talk about the one foot balance exercise before and I think that is what has been missing for me! Have yet to master braking - always end up just stepping off. This has been super helpful 👏👏👏👏👏 Merci beaucoup !
I’ve looked at like 20 videos on how to longboard since I’ve been wanting to learn and this is the best video I’ve found so far and this is the most simple video ever and I love it and you’ve reached me well sir :)
Why on this bloody earth am i wtching this if I've been riding for 8 years lmaoo but trust me it feels sooooo good you're just free Great video though...
This vid came up on my feed recently n I remembered watching it a couple years back! Now I've got several pairs of shoes with over-polished soles XD Belated thanks to Lotfi for the foot-braking tutorial!!
I love your point about the spirit connection. I named my board Zuro since it is a Zenit Turo board and anytime we go for a skate I shout, "Zuro let's move!"
Yesss c'est cool d'avoir des conseils comme ça👍super vidéo 👌(c'est la première vidéo que je regarde de cette chaîne et j'aurais pas deviner qu'il parle français 😂)
I used to street/vert skate as a kid. But hadn't skated for about 11-12 years. I'm nearly 28 now, and certainly not 16 anymore. But in getting a new job that I can walk to in a half hour, I decided to start skating again. I just got a new long board, since I wanted something better than my street board. Got a 37" Madrid longboard(this snowboard shape) and I love it. I picked out all the parts and built it myself. I'm not quite used to the length of it, but overall, love it. I had always wanted a longboard as a kid, but they were too expensive lol. I'm too old now to be taking any real spills though, so wasn't looking to get into street skating again.
Je faisais le one foot exercice sans m'en rendre compte hahah c'est vrai que ça aide beaucoup même que des fois quand je perds l'équilibre ça me permet de repositionner mes pieds sur la planche plus confortablement ! Merci et Love from Morocco
I've been trying to learn how to brake properly for a couple weeks now and man you make it so much easier to understand. I'm definitely gonna have to have a skate session today to try it out. I appreciate the help man! Ya get a sub from me
Well, I'm pretty excited about alternating between my cruiser and the new longboard I got TODAY! Woohoo! I'll be spending the next 2 or 3 days getting used to it. Btw, awesome video and channel! One more sub here!
What up Big L? Glad to see you bustin' out with these break down videos. LIke I've told you in the past I did your Instagram on the go, but I enjoy watching you on the big screen on the UA-cam. Keep up the good work, on and the bloopers are the best!
@@Lotfiwoodwalker Je viens juste de commencer le longbard pr faire du dancing alors je vais continuer de m’entraîner à freiner haha Mais avec plaisir, j'espère que tu feras d'autres vidéos comme celle là, elle est top! :)
Thank you! I’m on day 4 with my new board. I keep messing up the push- losing my balance, cutting it short to get the foot back on the board bc I’m unsteady, etc. can you break it down more/ provide Any other tips for improving my push quickly??? 🙏🏻🙏🏻💖
Hey a bit late but anyone interested, personally I try to pay attention to my stance, weight, and distribution of that through the board. It helps to stay in one place sometimes and stand on the board in skating stance and feel the way the board moves on its own. I practice this where I can skate and not be interrupted like on a empty basketball court or parking lot.
Malissa Richmond I felt the same way, my problem was that I wasn’t bending my knees, wasn’t putting weight on my front foot, and using my WHOLE foot to push. I would say put your front foot on, slight bend your knees and when you push pretty much just tap the ground with your toes as to pushing with your whole foot. It helped my improve my pushing and find my balance.
Keep going!! I'm a beginner and started practising two days ago for the first time properly as well. I'm managing to put both feet on and stay on with more confidence and for longer everyday :)

I'm so STOKED that you're doing longboard tutorial vids now, Lotfi!
Myke Triplitt glad you liked the content ! More to come ... soon :)
4 years later still a great and helpful tutorial. Merci Lotfi 🙏🏼

Wish I saw this before I broke my arm trying to foot break
Braking is the the second most important thing after gaining speed. Thanks for sharing this simple braking technique.
I really loved the part about not forgetting to breathe. I just got a skateboard. And going through that now

Un longboarder français qui se mets a UA-cam !
La qualité de ta vidéo est incroyable !
Il n est pas français il est arabe
I did the find your stance thing and none of my foot went forward
oop-
This is an underrated comment. A+
I myself am trying to learn with both feet now. Left is WAY harder for me than the right but eventually I'll make it.
I surf with my left forward and skate with my right foot. I’m still Trying to figure out which I prefer.💩
Then you're Michael Jackson
Much more valuable/applicable for a fresh beginner than the other ones I saw until now. Hats off, good video!
My boyfriend got us both skateboards the other day and he knows how to so he's teaching me and this video is super helpful!

Ok your personality is so cute, you made me smile so many times and I am one depressed human. Thank you!
Great tips and instruction. I'm contemplating buying longboard at age 59! Crazy huh?
I just got my first longboard and so excited to find your page. Loved the video. Can’t wait to try your tips and tricks! Also you funny 😂❤🎉
Definatley agree always trust in yourself and your board more relaxed and balanced you are the better chance of a less painfree riding expirience.
that leaning C tho, very helpful, and how to slow down without just running off of it XD

I have a way smaller cruiser board but I watch these longboard videos are the only one who help
Right before I watched this I fell on the street and I scraped my whole elbow and I have road burn now
Wear pads and a helmet, it's going to make you much more confident!
Ouch
bruh no youtuber can explain it better than you do, thanks man
Thank you so much. Just picked up a Long Island Longboard....great for a beginner like me. Much love from Arizona, USA.

I just ordered a longboard cause I’ve wanted one since I was 17 (I’m 24) and I can’t wait for it to get here so I can start 🥲
Thanks for actually doing basics, I've watched 3 videos that claim to be for beginners but they're really more intermediate
I did it for the first time!! 🎉 Thanks for your encouragement
I love your energy ❤

I just started practicing today and I cant balance at all. I cant stay still in the board for even 5 seconds

Is it too wobbly? Try tightening your trucks
How about now?
