    EXCELLENT! great breakdown of posture and staying on path

  • @dfboiler
    @dfboiler 3 роки тому +2

    Another thing that leads to poor direction is collapsing back into lateral tilt prior to turn, has the same affect of cutting across the zone and running out of barrel as not staying in posture does, even if you do stay in posture with collapsing back you are too far away from bat ball collision, and when you do make contact it’s often off the end of the bat. The difference is up and out vs. just out. Also steals power when you do connect well on the inside pitch. Diagnosed this too late for AF’s season. As his posture was great but he was missing ball and not knowing how that could be...really frustrating for him.

      Could you explain what lateral tilt is??

    • @dfboiler
      @dfboiler 3 роки тому +1

      Kobe Garcia the bend in your side or rib cage vs bend at your waste being your posture. To me that bend into lateral tilt should be created during the upper body turn and not by keeping your head back while you stride. Stay stacked. Bring your head with your belly button during stride phase, it then stays still during swing phase that way you don’t get stuck on backside and collapse. A major issue my son had for 3/4 of the season.

      @@dfboiler I have seen things where it says don’t bring your head beyond the back of your hip during your swing so you do not collapse

    • @dfboiler
      @dfboiler 3 роки тому +1

      @@stansmith2188 I would say the head stays in the center when you stride to balance and your back hip and knee by rotating around the spine drive forward and end up under the head, the finish is almost like you could easily just step through, vs feeling like you are leaning way back.

    Thank you so much! This is the biggest problem I have with my swing.

    Thanks for the tips! I learned to always keep the back elbow up to get better extension through the zone. That would explain why my timing was off on pitches up in the zone.

      Back elbow up is just a basic way to get hands in a workable starting position. Once your swing starts Matt's guidance applies.

    Thank you! Another great video! I feel like everyone talks about "Launch angle" when we can only truly control our "Attack angle". Can you discuss the difference between the two and why everyone focuses on "launch angle", when they should focus on what they can control "attack angle". Am i wrong?

    Hey Matt, I’m 14 about to start my first year of travel ball and high school baseball. So I have a pretty good eye at the plate so I get a lot of walks but also strike out looking a lot too. So obviously I’m just a kid and we don’t have the best umpires, so can you maybe do a video on how to swing at more pitches that are close to the plate instead of watching them go bye thanks!

      Your kids terrible how can he not hit outside pitches iTs So EaSy. Yah outside pitches are annoying especially when you are annoying. One thing that helped me a lot is if you can pitch to him in a batting cage and throw it to him decently hard so he is late more often than not and he learns to take pitches to the opposite field. Maybe it will not work but for me once I learned to take pitches to the opposite field it made it easier to hit the outside pitches

      @@stansmith2188 thanks man. Yes he’s been doing that now and it’s helped a ton. He has more bat coverage in the zone throughout the swing.

    Great video also you see a lot of baseball teams having elaborate homerun rituals and dances and moves they do at second base can you make a video giving context when you were in the pros
