"You're right! ... I have no idea what he's talking about" hahah I feel like that at least 3 times a practice on our 7U team. The youth coaching tips are great, thanks!
I love that this kids personality shows through in every video. My 7 year old likes these videos because of a Mattys engagement. I'd like his dad to embrace it a little more though. Lol.
Far too many coaches want to teach the young kids right away with live pitching. Tee work is such great tool to teach and work with. Thanks coach for the video !
I’ve been using some of your hitting drills as well as yougoprobaseball hitting drills and i feel like my son has done some improvement within a month on his hitting this year for little league he went 5 games with out getting a hit and if he did hit the ball he would pull them foul or just hit grounders the past 3 games he has gotten a solid hit every game thank you for these videos really appreciated
Great video. Far too many people treat the tee as a chore instead of a tool, and they certainly don't make sure it's being used the right way mechanically.
Another way to make sure young players start their stance in the right place: first when they come to the plate take their bat from them and put two marks in the ground, each mark will be where you want them to put their feet, then adjust the tee from there. Also tell them to keep the same swing everytime. This allows the young kids to stand in the same place every time while you manipulate the tee to dictate where you want to ball to go.
Great video - thanks for the rundown on the proper positioning (which I find is almost always overlooked). Do you have any advise for drills that can be done on a tee to work on players who are casting their bat? I know of the "two tee drill" and the fence drill, but would welcome any other suggestions. Thanks!
Awesome video as always. I am genuinely interested in at what age you will begin addressing his bat drag/leading back elbow. It would be cool if you did a video progression series to demo progress. Thank you!
Love the response from dad. Too many parents want their kids to have polished mlb ready swings and fill their heads with way too much mechanical nonsense. Even top high school level kids are often still growing into their swing. As he learns to control his body during the swing it will most likely correct itself.
Hey Matt, great video. I’m going to be coaching my son’s tee ball time this fall. How do I figure out the best height to place the tee for 4 to 6 year olds?
"you're right" *Under his breath* "I have no idea what he's talkin' about." 🤣 That's why little kids kill me. Matt did what every grown up does: basically just "smile and nod." 🤣
"He's apparently going to move onto base running, he just slid into first base." Matt wraps it up, and the kid running into second pretending to slide "You're out!" Would have loved to have a coach like Matt. 🤣
Noticed the wood bat. Do you think I should encourage my son to use the heaviest bat he can handle? His technique is definitely better with the lighter aluminum.
I am (27 years) tossing to my little brother (13 years). I’m a lefty, he’s a righty and he hits everything over the shortstops head. How can I help him hit against righty’s or progress his swing? Do I need to learn to toss righty?
@@AntonelliBaseball Thanks for the response. Sorry to follow up but I have another question. Would you saying making contact with the bad swing is better or trying to fix the elbow and possibly losing contact accuracy? Thanks
Hey Matt I notice you seem to let your son just swing freely for the most part. You don't address the back foot staying still or maybe the hands up & bat off shoulder? I was curious if you believe that at his age there 8s no need for it yet or is it ok to teach this at his age? I have an 11 & 7 I overemphasize this a lot am I wrong in your opinion? Thanks Shawn

Thanks Matt. Been watching our team improve with help from your videos.
My son and I never use a tee. His first baseball game dads or coaches can’t pitch so we got tee work to do. Thanks for the tips 🔥
This is such valuable content.
You have always made great videos, but now as a Dad there is a new perspective that enriches the content!
Kid is a stud!
Thanks for the video ive been working with my 5 year old off the Tee this has helped tremendously.
Great video! This is such an overlooked aspect of practice. On a side note, his finish reminds me of Ortiz. Thanks for all the great baseball content.

This is great, hopefully I get a kid to teach him how to pull the ball at ALL TIMES (Haha joke). I wish I knew this back in the day.
Great video. Kids got some power thanks matt

I won’t do anything for another few years probably. He’s so young and swinging a really heavy bat, so I’ll just let him hit for a while
@@AntonelliBaseball makes sense. Thank you

Last interview i saw of Chipper Jones he was in a cage hitting off a tee

What bat do you have your son swinging with? And how old was he when you had him start using wood?

What size wooden bat he swinging would like to know I also have a 7 year old kid an am looking for him to better on his swing
He is hitting the ball farther than my 9 year old.

Notice how the child rests the bat on the neck. This helps him get the correct swing angle in my opinion.
Any particular reason your not using the cage pro tee any more? I was just about to order one for my son's team
They are at our facility and this one was in my car
@@AntonelliBaseball cool just wanted to make sure there wasn't a problem with them! Just ordered one
@@jakeledyard6310 no they are great!
I noticed that your sons back elbow is down. My son does the same. At what age do we address it or is that fine?
I would like it up more. We have talked about it. Some of it has to do with strength. Some is due to him forgetting to emphasize it
@@AntonelliBaseball Thanks for the response. Sorry to follow up but I have another question. Would you saying making contact with the bad swing is better or trying to fix the elbow and possibly losing contact accuracy? Thanks
@@MegA1_16 I don’t worry about results when first making swing changes. Eventually it should lead to better results, but could take some time
@@AntonelliBaseball Thank you!!!
Great video... and he is OFF rounding 1st 😆
Isn’t he dragging a bit? How do you teach a young kid like that to hit properly? I’m currently coaching up my 6 yr old
Kids better than Harper
Lol true

I just let him hit as his age. I give a few tips here and there, but I just want him to be aggressive and hit the ball hard.
Is there a particular reason why your son is using a wood bat?
Just cause he likes it
My son is 16 months old and has a better swing
Doosh bag.
