Just something I noticed doing this for the first time, it would be great if you’d have mentioned leaving the scout canopy beams on before you show the model with them cut off, and then show it again with them on.

You know, in about 20 years of playing 40k - this is probably the absolute best magnetising video I've seen.
Coincidentally - I just bought 3x sentinels today, so this video will be the perfect guide!

I like the idea of when it dies you just leave the legs on the table

Great video, you should consider doing another video for the updated sentinel model when it comes out,

Good video. I did something similar with the old style sentinel kit quite some time ago. Never tried magnetizing the canopies.
One tip, if you want to avoid gluing magnets together, place a small piece of wax paper between them. It's a bit easier than trying to separate them with a metal hobby knife later.

Excellent advice. That's definitely going into my general guide (when I get the time for it).

    Great video!
More than halfway through magnetizing my own sentinel and if I'd seen this beforehand it would've been a lot easier-

Awesome tutorial! I was thinking about getting into magnetizing my future minis and was wondering what sort of stuff I should think about. Seeing the different sizes, drill bits, etc was a super informative crash course. Thanks!

Amazing stuff, When I build my first Sentinel in the next moths after I finish some of my other guard Vehicles I will try this Sentinel magnetizing video for sure :)
I hope we see more of this on other vehicles too.

Excellent video - great detail and perfect explanations! I have a sentinil kit which ive not yet built. Not going to do so until I have some magnets so I can do this with it. I used to collect and paly 40k back in 2nd eddition and had a 25 year break until quite recently. Started collecting Imperial Guard as well as Blood Angels. Those citadel side cutters are so sharp and lovely to use but not cheap! I have a pair of cheap ones for most cutting and use my citadels for more akward and precice sniping so they should stay razor sharp for many years im hoping.
Im an electrician and often find my modeling techniques are far too brutal and heavy handed as im used to drilling and cutting steel all day long at work then have to turn to a more delicate surgical kind of aproach in the evenings - which is easier said than done!! Also Im used to trying to do things as fast as possible when at work and unfortunatly then have a tendancy to rush things like this which can end in complete disaster!!

Welcome back to the hobby and thanks for sharing! I'm sure those electrician skills will come in handy at some point. Maybe you need to wire up some LEDs in that Sentinel 😉

Did you glue the leg pieces together, or did you magnitise them? Was a bit fast to see in the video even slowed down

    • @TableTopAckley
      @TableTopAckley  2 роки тому +1

Sorry about that! The legs are glued. I don't think the fully assembled model would be stable with Magnetized legs without also pinning them, though I could be wrong.

I have a Cadia Stands army set waiting for pickup. As soon as I get my hands on it I plan on magnetizing that bad boy. i can't promise a quick turnaround on the video though. 😅

A fair point, though I don't think the guard is so concerned with safety. Just gotta put the missile into place after the pilot gets in, and make sure you use the thing!
