There is no one on social media has your purpose and intensity old mate as well as great form and technique. When you've trained with it for many years than see it else where you recognise it instantly.
Kick your foot through your target. Also push off your supporting heel this will help. The back kick he's doing is decent for karate. Watching other martial arts will help. Taekwondo has great demonstration on back kick watch them as well to see the difference.
Yes, I've seen many do that. But why? Lifting the knee to the front is using different muscle groups than those required to kick behind, so as far as I see it, nothing is being added to the kick by lifting in front first. Other kicks will have a front chamber because they are going in that direction. I am always open to hearing arguments against my reasoning though.
@@jkgardiner it's the same when doing kata , chamber everything but the knee up makes it look good as a form when doing kata but in a real fight or in kumite it's applied differently anyway here is what i think , allot karate senseis and shihans still haven't changed allot when it comes to the kihon techniques , they still want to preserve the old ways and , i still dont see allot of masters teaching their student to do moves more effectively instead instead they let the student find out for them selves wich i understand, they want their student to keep filling their dojos lol , but the more i think about it the more i realize that it's the lack of willing to change certain techniques to make them more effective , anyway that's why i train with different people like what bruce lee did , there is always more to laern from others
@crisalcantara7671 that's it, they are not willing to accept that maybe another way is more effective. A lot of it is from the times when questions just weren't asked in the dojo, I believe in questioning all of my Karate, if I'm doing something in a particular way, then why? And how could it be improved? On the other hand If someone wants to train to preserve the history of the art then that is absolutely fine as well and I understand that.
I have trained and taught martial arts for over 60 years. Just remember, there is always more than one way to skin a cat. There is more than one correct way to perform a technique , find what works best for you.
I agree with this, every body is different. What I show is what I find to be the most useful for me, and if that helps others then that's great. If someone else prefers another way, I'm open to see that. Take what you like and leave what you don't. 👍
No matter what I do mine always comes out bad because my hip open up. It is either nice and slow/weak or a powerful something that looks like the ushiro geris distanz cousin.....
But why would you lift the knee to the front to drive a kick behind you? The muscles of the posterior chain are being used in a back kick. bringing the knee to the front is an unnecessary movement as it adds nothing to the direction of the kick. If a logical reason can be given for lifting the knee to the front first then I'm open to hear it. Often things are taught in martial arts "because they've always been done that way" but asking WHY is something done is important, in my opinion.
@@jkgardiner this is a fantastic response. My sport science degree focused on anatomy, physiology, kinesiology and biomechanics. @@stevehanson2398 so maybe lift the knee not to high but also not have it to low , i think the high knee thingy is what they teach for beginner like in kata for example but later on you perfect your techniques and use less bigger movements , i forgot how they call it when you master a move and can do it effortlessly ( minimal movement with proper technique something like that i forgot the right words that were used to describe it ...
Great kick for sport sparring but doesn’t appear in any of the classical kata. Great for training balance and athleticism but not really necessary for self defense.
So many schools teach how you did it wrong. Heal up first, I'm with ya dude.
Agreed. Use the heel not the blade edge. OSU!
You use the heel
Technique Benny Urquidez 👊

I was taught originally to chamber the kick in front first, as I do with many other kicks.

why years ago ot was called a "Donkey kick" and you did lift your knee to the front I won't exactly put that red X as some schools still do it
